  1. Hi People. My LS430 went in for an MOT today and passed. They moaned again about the front suspension bushes being more perished so these are going to be changed under warrenty. Again, I didn't ask which ones as it is a warrenty claim. Also will need two front tyres as they have worn badly on the front outside edges. Rear pads were down to 60% and the rear discs are suffering from corosion and pitting. Now for the really bad news. Lexus were trying to fit my SL2Vi iPod adapter today. They were having all sorts of trouble getting it to connect to the head unit. When it finally began working, the touch screen went dead. No satnav, aircon etc. I've been given an IS250 for the weekend and they will be in contact with me on Monday to find out what is going on. All I know is that the iPod box is going straight back to the States for a refund. IT'S JUST NOT MY DAY Appart from that, Lexus Woodford have been brilliant yet again. Thanks to everyone there if you are reading this. I've also extended my warrenty for another two years. Probably a waste of time in alot of peoples opinions but it will put my mind at ease. Just thought I would let you all know what happend. Have a good weekend everyone, Jim.
  2. Thanks for that Janey. I shall get my reading specs on tonight. I also don't want to make a pigs ear of my LS430 either. Cheers, Jim.
  3. Hi People. My Meguiars DA polisher turned up along with three pads (2 polishing and 1 finishing), and the Meguiars three stage car cleaning kit. Could anyone give me some advice on using this DA polisher as I'm a newbie to all of this. I will thoroughly wash and dry the car before I use it. What sort of pressure do I need to apply when using it and is it safe to use with the three stage polishing bottles? Thanks peeps. Jim.
  4. As a driving instructor, I recomend a thorough read of Roadcraft and the highway code. Then, go and have a go at the Rospa driving course. I like to think of it as legallised lunacy. It is based very much around making progress but sticking to the letter of the law. I've had no experiance of the IAM so I can't really comment about them, but I certainly recomend doing the Rospa test.
  5. 1. Original Cast (from what I remember) The soundtrack album is in my IS200's CD player ! :D That might explain why you might get the "ERROR 3" some time in the near future.
  6. I might not be there for an evening's disco but I have a couple of sugestions. I would also like to add at this time I am of sound mind. 1, The Timewarp (No idea who sings it but the original from the film would be a giggle) 2, The Macarena (Again, no idea. I believe it was two foreign blokes with lots of very thin women wearing short shorts.) I must also add this now that I appologise to the poor sod who is fitting my SL2Vi iPod connector at Lexus Woodford this friday when he tests it using one of my play lists. Can I get into trouble for an extremely bad taste in music?
  7. I hope Dr Gillian McKeith isn't reading this thread. :winky:
  8. I've been on the list for two tickets. I'm coming for one day though. Can I show my LS430 off for the day with everyone elses? I promise to make sure it is cleaned. Where can I get my tickets in advance? If someone could PM me with the info that would be great. I'd also like my car on the club stand if we have one please. Preety please. Sugar on top etc. Also Mr Wozza, will you be playing any classics like Tom Jones, Rick Astley, Pointer Sisters? P.S. If anyone finds my iPod, please don't destroy it. P.P.S. I have just bought my tickets so please ignore the question about buying tickets in advance.
  9. I got my aerotwin wipers from wiperblades.co.uk. I got a set for my Micra but they don't do Bosch Aerotwin Retro for the LS430 which is anoying.
  10. Hi Pete. Thanks again for your advice. It's always helpfull as usuall. I was driving it today and it feels as tight as a drum. There is no creaking, groaning, it doesn't pull to either side, the air suspension still goes up and down if you want it too (still havn't found out why you would want to do this), the sports suspension still makes it firmer and more uncomfortable. If it does fail, I shall take it to the garage down the road who used to fix all my Peugeot driving school cars, and believe me, they fixed them quite alot. When they did an oil change on it a few months ago, they said nothing was wrong with it as I asked them to look. I will keep you posted on what happens. I would have had a go myself at fitting the SL2Vi but what puts me off is I need to take out the touch screen display and knowing my luck I would break somthing. Lexus said they were more than happy to fit it for me because they didn't need to cut into the original wiring loom. The worst is putting a hole into the glovebox to feed the cable through for it. Suspension wyse, I parked mine up today and they do look slightly high on the front. I have also noticed this on the few I see parked up as well. Perhaps I shall have mine dropped just a little as well. Cheers, Jim.
  11. Hi Pete. It went in for a service at Lexus Woodford and the report that the mecanic sent through to the service department said that the front suspension bushes are starting to perish. They could last a week or two years was what I was told and not to worry as my wheels wouldn't fall off. I just love it when they are specific about these things. As far as symptoms go there is a little bit of tramlining which you would expect from having 245 tyres so at the moment I'm not worried at all. It goes in for it's MOT on Friday and to have the SL2Vi iPod adapter fitted so I will update you on what happens after that. It is a 2004 Mk2 with 64,000 miles on the clock. It still feels like it needs running in. I'm more concerned for getting it cleaned for JAE at the moment. Cheers, Jim.
  12. You also forgot to mention the Thai Ladyboy Tronic option and automatic body lotion dispensor. On a serious note, it does look better with a lower front. I might look at doing that when I get my front suspension bushes done when Lexus moan about them on another service. Are the front bushes somthing that Tony could do at WIM?
  13. Thanks for your advice as regards to using Scratch X with the polishing machine. I've been on the Meguiars website again and bought the three step cleaning and another pad for the polisher. Will post some pics when all my new toys turn up. Thanks again.
  14. Good Evening everyone. I went on to the Meguires website tonight and bought myself the DA Polishing Machine, Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad, and the Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pad. I really want to give the old girl a good going over before JAE. Has anyone used this before with Meguires Scratch X and then Tech Wax? I've looked on Detailingworld and find the amount of information a bit bewildering. If anyone is in the Hertfordshire area and can show me the ropes when it comes to using these machine's I would be very greatfull. Many thanks everyone.
  15. I was always of the opinion that the more horses you coaxed from the engine, there was a compromise in reliability. As nice as the Bugatti Veyron is, I can't see it munching up the mile that an LS400/430/460 would. But still, 700bhp, I'd love that in the LS.
  16. I had a 2001 GS300 for two years and 20,000 miles and now have a 2004 LS430 and have done 10,000 relaxed miles in it. Neither had a problem, only servicing, fuel etc. There is nothing like having a waft in an LS after spending all week in my Nissan Micra driving school car.
  17. I spent all day yesterday on mine. I used Meguires gold class car wash, did the whole thing in scratch x and then polished it with Tech Wax. If anyone needs me, I shall be on ebay looking for a new arm and elbow. P.S. Nice looking car you got there mate.
  18. I bought a Vaistech SL2Vi from the States and I'm having Lexus Woodford fit it for me in August as well as having my MOT done. Lexus say they don't do anything for the LS430 in terms of iPod connection. This unit is plug and play. I will put some pics up once fitted. I have to put my songs into play lists though but I think it is a small price to pay to not use the tape adapter any more. It will also play video from the iPod to the touch screen so long as the gear selector is in park and the handbrake is on. Vaistech also do connections for the new IS series so it might be worth having a look if your not happy with the Lexus one. I wonder what unit that Lexus use to do this.
  19. On my LS430 I have used Castrol Edge 0W30 and found it to be very good. With the oil that Lexus puts in it, when the engine first started it would rev to about 1,300 rpm and then settle down to about 750. Not it goes up to 2,000 rpm and settles down to 750 on cold starts. It's expensive but I noticed that my mpg has improved slightly. It is also what Castrol recomends on their website. I found it to be quite informative.
  20. Good evening everyone. I've been internet shopping today and bought some Scratch X from Meguires as I thought I would give the car a good going over. Astral black is a nightmare to keep clean and shows up every tiny little swirl mark and scratch. Is it best to apply this stuff my hand or am I better off getting one of those machine's to do it? Also, if I do need a machine, which is the best one to get and where can you get them from? I take it I need to give it a good polish after applying the Scratch X. I have some Meguires Tech Wax I thought I would use. Is it also necessasary to but that blue tape on all the rubbers around the door and sunroof? Sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit lost as what to do. I really want to give the old girl a good going over for when I take it to JAE this year. Thanks everyone.
  21. Could someone tell me what size the wipers are for a 2004 LS430 as I want the Bosch aerotwin wipers for mine. Many thanks and have a good weekend. Jim.
  22. As far as I was aware, if you buy an oil filter from Lexus it has a Toyota badge on it. I also believe it is the same for air filters, serpentine and camshaft belts etc. If money is tight, then Toyota is the place to go. Isn't the same engine from the 220d in the Avensis and Auris anyway? I must also add that when I look at changing to another Lexus in a few years time, I will only buy it as long as it has a full Lexus service history. That makes me feel better.
  23. I have orderd the Vais Technology SL2Vi adapter direct from the states. Also, Lexus Woodford have said that as it is a plug and play setup, they are more than happy to fit it for me. I'm looking forward to playing some video's from my iPod on the satnav screen. Apparently it emulates a Mini Disc player for the iPod and brings up a DVD screen. I will put up some pics as soon as it arives and is fitted.
  24. I had a chat with my local Lexus dealer the other day and they said they don't have anything to fit to the LS430 for Ipod connectivity. They did give me the number of a guy who has somthing he can fit, but it doesn't display track information and I will possibly loose the six disc cd changer. He said he hasn't done an LS430 before so it didn't fill me with confidence. Perhaps he could do my eye operation as well, he probably hasn't done one of those either but he could probably gove it a go . Does anyone know of a professional audio installer in Hertfordshire or sourounding areas who might be able to help me if I get the new all singing all dancing Ipod adapter from the states? Many thanks and have a good weekend everyone.
  25. My LS430 is going in for a service at Lexus Woodford in a couple of weeks time. If I ask them to fit an Ipod dock or what ever they are called, is this the same system that they would use? I'm not too worried about getting rid of the "I Agree" button as I have been known not to agree with it most times anyway.
