  1. I assume the master code is the last 3 digits of YOUR vin but its not specifically clear. Try it.
  2. Hi It sounds to me as if the unit needs resetting as its software has gone haywire. You could try disconnecting the battery for at least 20 secs and make sure the ignition isn't on. The radio will lose its pre-sets but so what given the nature of the problem. Alternatively, before doing so have a look/search in the audio forum.
  3. Have you taken the advice from steve2006? If you follow the instructions in the link http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html it says to set it up and turn on the ignition, not start the engine. If you haven't done it have a go, then come back with the results. It sounds like the car is in "get me home mode.*
  4. It looks like I must reluctantly concede on this little project. I’m sure it can be done but I'm supposing you'd need to get into the ECU and get to the firmware to find the “switch”. I need a pal at a Lexus dealership for the inside track on this. So no quick fix here. I'm going to get out the dash and see if I can get at that LED and perhaps take it out or just tape over it. Whatever the result is I won't be looking at it for much longer. Hi. Before you start, you could try these guys http://www.justanswer.com/Thanks.aspx?survey=3&TID=5153081 If they can help, it will cost a small fee maybe £15 but I have saved no-end by using them.
  5. The very chart I was going to refer to! There are 2 other whites although only 051 covers the entire period. Double check on the plate for 051 and you will be good to go.
  6. The plate lists various thinks but includes (last line if I remember)colour and trim. Its that string you need to post to verify. I'll have a look for you but not without the coding.
  7. Have a look at the bottom of the windscreen.
  8. Oh goodie Mine must be worth five grand, albeit my oil filter didn't cost £170! I'm open to offers above 5k mind.
  9. Hi 1) Do you mean there are no lights adjacent to the selector? What about on the dash board? You should be able to carefully prise-up the console top, find the bulb/s and replace it/them with little hassle. 2) Cant help with this as my Scorpion alarm was long obsolte by the time your car was first registered.
  10. It can be removed and blanked off although I am not sure what, if any, effect this could have on the overall emmissions. The objective of the egr is to reduce the temperature of combustion and in turn reduce nitrous oxide. I wouldn't recommend doing away with it.
  11. Hi I recalled replying to this issue previously - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=66117&st=0&p=714941&hl=+egr%20+pipe&fromsearch=1entry714941 That should get you going.
  12. Hi again This is a copy of the procedure to remove the steering wheel to get to that relevant bit. If its not sufficient, you could sign-up to http://www.justanswer.com for the full version. Hope it helps. Care must be taken to replace parts properly because they could affect the performance of the steering system and result in a driving hazard. The LEXUS LS430 is equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) such as the driver airbag and front passenger airbag. Failure to carry out service operation in the correct sequence could cause the SRS to unexpectedly deploy during servicing, possibly leading to a serious accident. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts, inspection or replacement), be sure to read the precautionary notices in Restraint Systems. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD NOTICE: If the airbag connector is disconnected with the ignition switch at ON, DTCs will be recorded. Place the front wheels facing straight ahead. Remove the steering wheel lower No. 2 cover and pad switch modulator cover. Using a torx driver, loosen the 2 torx screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case. Disconnect the connector. Pull out the wheel pad from the steering wheel. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the airbag connectors as shown in the illustration. CAUTION: When storing the wheel pad, keep the upper surface of the pad facing upward. Never disassemble the wheel pad. NOTICE: When removing the wheel pad, take care not to pull the airbag wire harness. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL Disconnect the connectors. Remove the steering wheel set nut. Place matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft assembly. Using SST, remove the steering wheel. 13. The LS400 (the original Lexus) was designed to just pop-up to avoid water getting in when it rains. Mine behaves in this manner so yours is just fine.
  14. You would be too excited to remember everything - getting in and driving was all that mattered! Anyway, good result for now.
  15. Are you sure that you can't get to the other screws by turning the steering wheel? I assume its the shroud that you need to remove to expose the motor. The wheel doesn't have to come off on the LS400.
  16. I'm assuming that the mechanism is similar to that on the LS400. Please have a plough through the search facility because there's plenty of stuff to help you.
  17. Hi No problem, it is normal for an auto to roll backwards on an incline in Drive when idling. This is particularly noticeable with such a low idle speed.
  18. Before deciding on new wheels and tyres, have a look at this http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html
  19. Insurance was "covered" in this thread recently http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=68630
  20. Before you go to any expense, its worth clearing out any c..p from below the air intake. This alone could cure the musty smell and increase airflow and all it takes is a bit of time.
