  1. Cheers chaps. We weren't sure how they would look. Now, now Mr Wozza sir, tell the truth - Thats a good idea Stevie. I'll try that. Stav Yes - I think that would make all the difference.
  2. Marks right - join in. You don't need a specific reason to post here. Talk about anything, post some car pics up, anything really. It's a community here and we aren't that bad really. Even come to a meet sometime?
  3. When you say you'll probably use the internet an hour a day or so, I think you will be surprised as a lot of apps you can get use real time (or close) data in the Iphone so you may find this sort of thing useful - its not just about browsing. I had one but it wasn't for me because: 1. You can't transfer all contacts in a single action. This may not affect you as yours are already in the Lex system and I assume you would be transferring new or just deleting the odd ones. I work on different contracts for a couple of months at a time so will have a good 60+ phone numbers of the subbies, etc so transfer, remove and add knew ones with each project. Couldn't be done in a single pass with the Iphone. It could be an issue for you if ever they were cleared. As a one off, it would be worth fiddling around with a PC and another bluetooth device (like keeping your existing SE) in getting them back on. Doing it frequently is just a pain. 2. I wasn't impressed with the handset sound as a phone. 3. On the Lex, If I received a second call but can't take it, then get an answerphone txt, it would lockup the bluetooth and the phone would hang. 4. I use the cut and paste a lot and it is important to me. Possibly a utility for this now or even the latest software perhaps? Some of these may have been addressed in the latest versions. If not, there may be hacks but I guess you wouldn't be doing that sort of thing so would lose out. There are other things that you may need applications for (like MMS) so it would be handy if you knew someone if you don't like to play at installing these things yourself. No one can deny it is a great piece of kit but if possible, try and borrow one and test for yourself because, and I know someone will find this hard to accept, it may just not be right for you at the moment. Whether the Lex's fault or the Iphones fault - it still amounts to the same and worth thinking about.
  4. Sounds like the current sensor is kaputski. It is actually part of and attached to the motor (unmarked so you can't replace). I'm not even sure if you can get the motor separately to a complete mirror housing. You can disconnect for now. Take off the kick panel in the passenger footwell and look at the connectors around the fuses. Find the loom that goes into the door. The connector should be near the top left if I remember rightly. The closure motor cables are light green and light green/red stripe. Pop the pin out of the connector or even cut the wire to reconnect later. At least it will stop the mirror closure motor working. Adjusters and heater will still be fine, as will the drivers side mirror.
  5. Its under electrical wiring diagram, system circuits, radio and player, then your model. (e.g. LHD, 6 speaker, RHD 6, speaker) Clicky here for RHD, 8 speaker If you can't follow the menu, should you be reading the wiring diagram? Only winding you up mate. What you up to?
  6. That's really bad news Chris and I'm sorry to hear it.
  7. Unfortunately, in the real world it ISN'T the most important thing. It's not a question of evaporating from the brain. If the money isn't there, it isn't there. If its out of somebodies budget then it is unachievable and people have to get what they can get. Anyway, we have established he can't go down the Apple route so discussing Apple further is just hijacking the thread really. (No surprise there then) Soz Y2k
  8. Hello Matt, welcome to the club. Enjoy the car mate.
  9. 990,984 (Duplicate with steviewevie there Mr spikes sir)
  10. So that's why you're always skint Woz......
  11. Oh yes - they do have a team. I know because I see a few thousand people walking home disappointed every other saturday.... You can get their "Wonder Years" video for £400. (£1 for the video, £399 for the betamax video recorder to watch it on )
  12. Mac would be better without question. Budget denies this as said earlier.
  13. At these speeds and software you aren't going to massive a difference, especially with the periphery components - you are at the point of diminishing return. Overclocking will just add increased risk for so little benefit. As steviewevie is saying, better off now looking towards your drive and stuff. I'd say get a sas card and 2TB sas station (6G per sec) but guess you haven't a spare £4k hanging around...
  14. Use the Cat6 if you can. Cat5e gigbit doesn't lend itself to the noisy mains environment of a house. It will drop down a renegotiate a lot. There will be loads of crc errors too. It will still be fast mind, just experience has shown me you will lose a lot. I'll see if I can dig out some Fluke reports.
  15. Had a few of these on the IS - pop the mirror glass out and clean/lubricate the motor section and gearing unit. Try that before they try and charge you for a new one (Assuming its out of warranty)
  16. I'd go for quad core if cost isn't a great concern. Although there still isn't a lot of software specifically written for it, it is the internal threading capability that makes the difference. Non specific software will cause an overhead but will still be faster than the duo. Graphics programs are the first to take advantage, surprisingly enough over the majority of games. Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and all the biggies have taken advantage.
  17. Happy Birthday fella, Sorry it's late! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
