  1. If it helps I got the Eibachs and they did not effect the ride quality too much but dropped the car really nicely and improved the handling. However once i added the anti-roll bars over rough surfaces it can be quite crashy at low speeds.
  2. JVC AVX-810 Double DIN HU has a removable face and can take a camera input I believe.
  3. Yeah i've got a 2001 X and its got black speakers with no bar
  4. From having read around Toyota say that it means nothing and is just supposed to be a name that infers Luxery and Elegance and Lexus Australia are the ones who say Luxery Exports to the US, probably in an attempt to sell more cars.
  5. From Reference.com: "Brand development In 1986, Toyota’s longtime advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi formed a specialized unit, Team One, to handle marketing for the new luxury brand. Image consulting firm Lippincott & Margulies was hired to develop a list of 219 prospective names; Vectre, Verone, Chaparel, Calibre and Alexis were chosen as top candidates. While Alexis quickly became the front runner (also associated with the Alexis Carrington character on the popular 1980s primetime drama Dynasty) and later morphed to Lexus, the name has been attributed to the combination of the words "luxury" and "elegance. According to Team One interviews, the name has no specific meaning and simply denotes a luxurious and technological image, although Lexus in Australia claim the original name is short for Luxury Export to United States. (LExUS)." Still no idea if there is a shred of truth in the article. And yes v slow day at work.
  6. I've heard it stands for Luxury EXports to the US, that it was after the character Alexis in Dynasty or that it means nothing.
  7. C-One, as they are the ones i have. They retain the feel of the car while almost eliminating body roll. The TTE bars have roughly the same stiffness as do the Cusco. However neither come with new bushes and brackets and the C-Ones do. IMO the hotchkis are too stiff and may encourage more overstear, but thats a good thing if you want your back out more often. Also may get a little bit a waddling at the rear, where the back end wobbles a lot on uneven roads. The links Steve provided above should give you all the info you need.
  8. So glad Jason fitted mine for me. Would have been a disaster if i had tried. Patrik yours look fantastic however.
  9. I also had C-Ones fitted recently along with Eibach springs. There is still a tiny bit of roll but the car might as well be flat round the corners compared with before. Put it this was im going round some corners at 40 where i wasn't confident of going much faster than 30 round before.
  10. I've got a JVC AVX-810 with bluetooth and cd changer attached. Think its great. About £500 in total IIRC.
  11. nope no cruise control on mine, hence the snow mode helps. :)
  12. I also had this problem every so often, but it went away when i changed my spark plugs for IK20s.
  13. I found snow mode helps most on long motorway runs as it stops the small variations in accelerator pedal movement being transmitted to the engine due to heavier damping on the throttle response. Mines manual however.
  14. My car pours out tonnes of steam when the engines cold and stopped at the lights - more than most anyway. Are we sure its not this yet?
  15. Well i understand Mac why a hyabusa engine would be useless in a car as there is f all torque but the BHP figure is because of the very high revs, 15k is it? The thing is the camcon is not raising the rev limit on the car so the increase in BHP has to be a torque increase. However i did ask if there was a graph available for his car as then we could see where the torque increases are.
  16. Ah yes - so it does. Didn't think the airbo was that restricted on the IS. Care to explain how that was done too? :) Would be interested in doing this if not too much work is involved.
  17. Lexus Park Lane ask to see my card every time I buy parts. Though i can blag it if i forget.
  18. Can you confirm the only mods you had before that could increase power are panel filter, ik20's and a blueflame exhaust? Was the 153.7BHP the before Camcon figure with these fitted? Do you have a dyno graph you could post with the figures? cheers, Ed
  19. Dave I rang TDI to check if they had the TTE arbs in stock, before I decided to get the C-Ones via yourself, and they did. Was pretty surprised myself too.
  20. Yeah i think the droplink problem when it comes to ARBs will be to do with age not mileage as it seems to be a rust problem. Though i have heard they are more likely to fail the further you go over 80,000 miles, not 100% sure of this though.
  21. My allen key bit was what had failed. It had rusted so badly that when the allen key put any force on it disintegrated into a circle so no purchase could be found. Hence i've had to get a set of droplinks as well. X reg, 70k miles.
  22. Thats great news Steve. Glad it's all fitted and working nicely :) Shame they are going to cost us both a lot more than we thought, but i think they're worth it. Getting mine fitted at WIM on Friday :) Did you fit all 4 droplinks in the end? As a heads up to those thinking about getting their ARBs done all 4 droplinks cost me ~£180 with my 10% Gold Discount and 15% VAT from Lexus Park Lane. I think Steve called a couple of other Lexus dealers and they all quoted the same price. Lexus park lane said that they will take back unused parts up to 14 days after collection though. Does anyone else agree that a cleaned up version of this should be made a sticky like the Exhaust one? Also the same with the ECU thread that was done recently? Ed
  23. My double din unit has a removable screen and if you dont want to ever detach it you can screw it on permanently. JVC AVX-810 IIRC.
  24. Just got mine lowered on eibach springs from Sport springs. Dropped it about 2-3cm and has made the car feel slightly tauter round corners. The ride is still the same but handling has improved. Springs still need to settle so the handling may loosen a little more over this week. Was going to get my arbs done at the same time but my droplinks failed so couldn't.
