  1. It should be correct, Chris does work for a Lexus dealer :winky:
  2. You are meant to keep the same wheel/tyre circumference. Bigger wheel means a lower profile tyres. Otherwise the speedo, odometer, Sat Nav don't work correctly.
  3. Most seats don't fit well in the IS. You should always check with the seat manufacturer for compatibility and be shown how to fit it correctly. Something like 6-8 out of 10 seats aren't installed correctly and are therefore not as safe as they could be in an accident.
  4. Yes their stuff is very good. Whatever you use to remove the paint will also probably remove the dye. If you send off a headrest or something to these guys they will make you up a dye to match. They will probably also be able to advise the best thing to remove the paint. http://www.liquidleather.com/
  5. Not a MKI and a MKII, both were MKII (series II) however the 300 was a pre-facelift and my current one is post. Yes there is a difference in a positive way. The ride is better and it doesn't crash as much over bumps - I can now go over speed bumps without wanting to come to a complete stop and just crawl over them. Not sure if it is only a difference in shocks, springs and bushes may well have been uprated as well. However it does still crash over an ant in the road and wallow and wander. I am also looking at the Tein CS coilovers. The wander can be reduced by having a full wheel geometry check. I would do this first because if may solve your problems. The GS chassis does have a lot of flex in it so chassis braces are probably a good thing to try. Don't think the prolex braces have been tried though. The Toms ones are the best for the GS but are expensive and I am reluctant to buy them without being able to try them first. Due to the lack of GSs in the UK you will probably be one of the first to try suspension/chassis mods and therefore you will take on a risk of wasting money.
  6. You would need to plug one of the sensor holes and just use the other one. This is not ideal because you are only 'looking' at half the engine and the other half could be running richer, although on a fully working engine this shouldn't be the case. I take it you plan to swap over the downpipe just for the ESVA and then put the other back again? If so it may work. Clearly the pre-cats are required to pass emmision on the ESVA, however you can just have the main cat for a pass on the MOT.
  7. Please don't type in CAPS and don't swear in posts. How old is your vehicle. CD players are covered by a 5 year warranty.
  8. It is good for it's proper purpose which is limescale removal - use it in the bathroom. If you polish/wax your wheels it will probably be a bit too strong and remove it all.
  9. O2 sensor after the cat is only used to check the cat is working and not to correct mixture, that is the job of the front sensor(s). I guess the JDM vehicles don't have this O2 sensor because they are not OBD-II compliant.
  10. and only OBD-II device capable of the IS0 9141/14230 protocol.
  11. Does every thing else work on the car? When you say the immobiliser is not responding I take it you me the security light doesn't go out when you put the key in the ignition?
  12. all series II RXs will be in warranty (if they have less than 60k miles on the clock) so I would let your dealer sort that out.
  13. handbrake light may just be the level not coming all the way up when you release the handbrake. Try pulling it up with your hand/foot when you release it - may just need a lube. ABS/VSC lights coming on could mean several faults so you need to get the error code read, a common fault seems to be a faulty master cylinder. Hopefully it isn't that as it costs about £1800
  14. No, the TEXT button is for the optional MiniDisc changer.
  15. The new engine won't be in either car until 2006. It has the lowest compression ratio of any diesel on the market to reduce the harshness you normally get. Should have best economy for class of engine (not confirmed as they are still working on it?) and it has an electric pre-spool on the turbo to reduce lag.
  16. But the Avensis, along with the new IS, won't have that engine until 2006. Steve, how did you manage to test drive it when it's not ready yet?
  17. If you are going to keep your car past 100k then you could get it done now. Or inspect the belt and see if there is any wear on it.
  18. IS repeater lens aren't very clear, but the LS ones are.
  19. Do you mean standard ones for aftermarket? New sensor, do you mean MAF sensor?
  20. Never had anything too stupid but every year I get a quote from the AA and every year they are at least double what I end up paying! Cannot believe people actually buy insurance from them.
  21. SP60 is actually 'Undefined speed limit offence' It seems SP60s are given when national speed limit applies .
  22. In an perfect world you would want zero back pressure so the engine doesn't have to do any work to expell the gases, this however is not possible and trying to achieve low pressures results in other problems. Increasing the diameter would reduce pressure but it will also decrease the exhaust gas speed which can reduce power/torque. The mapping of an engine ECU is based on a certain amount of pressure so changing the exhaust may not give great benefits unless other work is also done.
  23. Use any of those ratings. You could even use V rated tyres as the top speed of the GS300 is 143mph and V rating is 149mph although you probably wouldn't find V rating on that size of tyre. W - 168 mph Y - 186 mph Z - 150+ mph
