  1. Yesterday I finally got my seat and mirrors into their correct position and thought I would store the position in memory. Went to press the button but there were none! Cannot believe I didn't spot it when looking at the vehicle. I have since looked on the Lexus web site under the used vehicles and looking at the pictures it seems all X reg 2000 GS300 and 430 do not have them. 2001 X and 2001 Y all seem to have them. It seems a batch of vehicles left Japan without them on as all the specs I have read say they should be there. I feel a bit better knowing that it's not just my car but it is very strange. I have emailed Lexus and I am waiting for a reply. Took the door panel off and the wiring connector is there and voltage is present on some of the pins so it may just need the switches rather than the control unit Anybody else have a X 2000 GS?
  2. Do you require the whole light? The lens is available on its own which is much cheaper.
  3. Welcome to the club Daz, The price seems good for a Lexus dealer taking into account the low mileage.
  4. A trip for the dealer for you! The switch is sealed within the lock mechanism, which in itself is a pain to get to. I think the only fix is replace the lock. Must be a common problem as my off-side passenger door had the same problem.
  5. I had the same marks on my car. Nail polish remover will get rid of most things. Use a very small amount and wash off straight away. WARNING: I would recommend testing on an area that cannot be seen first.
  6. Car crime wasn't a big problem in Japan (until people started nicking them for export) so it may not have an imobiliser.
  7. Looks good although you've made a right mess of the pavement and bushes :P
  8. There should only be two blues. The early ones are Royal Sapphire and the later Strathcaron. If you look at photos then yes Strathcaron blues always seems different, in the flesh there are the same. I would go with the blue, there are so many silver ones about. The grey is also nice. On the VW/Audi front I would say there are not above average in reliability. Certainly not in JD power or Which? studies. I know people with A3, A4, S3, Bora, Golf and Polo and all have had problems. The 1.8T engine is very troublesome, with poor dump valves and the ignition system is weak. The dealers never seems to fix the problems on the first go either.
  9. I'd go with the blue. Far too many silver ones on the road.
  10. I just got 10.5k for my '98 SE Sat Nav. A couple of Lexus dealers offered 9k. It will probably go on sale for 13.5k and will drop 1k after a month or two. My trade in offers were comparable with http://www.parkers.co.uk Remember that the price will be dropping about £200 per month. I brought mine 2.5 years ago for 18k. Take off the 3k difference between retail and trade-in and it's lost 5k in that time, 2k per year.
  11. Central locking from the passenger door and illuminated locks shouldn't be a problem as you have the remote locking button on the key. Using the doors locks doesn't arm the alarm or the deadlocks.
  12. What version and date is your CD. Only the first couple of CDs didn't have the whole of the UK. Version 3.2 (based on 11/1999 data) should contain all roads provided they existed at the time. I have just tried on Version 3.4 CD. Using city/street option Bramhall is defined and there are 517 streets listed.
  13. After 2.5 years of trouble-free motoring I no longer have my GS300 Still the good news is I am still a Lexus owner having just purchased a Nov 2000 GS 430 SE :D :D :D I have tomorrow off work so I will be spending a bit of time cleaning and checking everything over. Hopefully I will post some pics tomorrow as well. One thing I noticed was on the way home there was more wind noise than my old car. It seems to me coming from above rather that from the door. The sunroof seems to sit slightly lower than the roof line so maybe that's it. Anybody know how to adjust the sunroof alignment?
  14. No fuel computer, no seat lumbar adjustment, no memory for seat/mirror, lack of boot space due to the boot lid design and lack of power on the 2.0l engine. Cruise control is not an issue for me, hardly ever used it in the last 5 years I have had it on my Supra/GS300.
  15. Have a read of Richard Kember's experience with his Jaguar, it's very well written. http://www.channel4.com/apps26/4car/jsp/ma...=6&reviewid=148
  16. Is that not more to do with the size of the car rather than the badge on the front? If Toyota were to sell the IS in the UK rather than Lexus, I wouldn't have a problem owning/driving one.
  17. The AA and RAC inspections that customers pay for should include a road test. Maybe the dealer inspections are just cosmetic?
  18. I think the system can only check the brake circuit once you press the brake pedal so not seeing the warning light when first starting up makes sense. I would recommend removing the bulbs and clean the terminals and check for corrosion in the bulb holder.
  19. Ignore my previous post, i've just checked on my car and all the buttons light up (including the seat heater switches) as do the gear selector positions. Don't know why I thought they didn't :duh:
  20. The RX8 has poor fuel economy for it's size. I guess only time will tell if the engines will last 60,000miles +. I know people who have owned Mazdas and they have all said they are expensive to own.
  21. Maybe they put in super by mistake?
