  1. 12V battery will be flat causing this. Likely due to Lexus Link app. Turn it off and you won't have the problem
  2. Supagard is rubbish. Its a sealant and not a very good one. Most of the time slapped on by valeters without proper preparation. I dont think anyone has got it to last 6 months nevermind 1 year or whatever they claim In the first instance I would use a hairdryer on the bird marks - they certainly dont need polishing straight away. Sustained heat for 5 minutes should cause it to disappear. Secondly, I would try to get a refund of the supagard and get a detailer to apply a proper ceramic coating
  3. Although its not really a fair comparison. Ive got the Merc W205 and the build quality is rubbish in comparison. Squeaks, rattles all over which I had to rectify, and its the same with all the newer models. Not just an isolated case either, the forums are rife with it. Ride quality is okay but only after removing the run flats - still relatively harsh and nowhere near as quiet as the Lexus on a move. I dont think many Lexus come with passenger memory seats..... Merc reliability is rubbish too - Ive had about £3k worth of work done on a car with 40k miles. And lets not forget about the "Artico" pleather which screams vinyl. The Lexus offering is much better. I do genuinely think the Merc is very good at looking very good and giving the impression of quality, but its certainly not a quality product. I believe the W206 is even worse - material quality is worse lower down than the W205
  4. As above should be covered.
  5. Yes - and the reason for it is its supposed to allow the driver to understand whether a vehicle is moving towards them or away from them in an instant.
  6. So the RX came back on Wednesday but my wife had to check it as I had quite bad vertigo (probably would chopping induced the day before) Anyway I checked it over on Thursday and it's perfect. Couldn't even tell it'd been hit. Went over it with a LED to check for holograms and everything but it all looks bang on.
  7. You mean anti glare? Potentially for safety reasons on passenger side particularly for cyclists. This has been a thing on Mercs for years if it is truly the anti glare dimming mirrors you mean
  8. Don't be silly All the premium manufacturers are doing it. Can't get folding mirrors on some, or sound systems on top spec Mercs at the moment. Sane price, just no sound systems or certain extras which should be in the package, they don't come with it
  9. I think they're only on the fronts. Last time I checked they only lit up at the front too. Not really sure why
  10. I would snap back at that email with a reply and CC it to the CEO along with your views on Lexus customer service. Has always worked for me.
  11. So thought I would provide an update - everything has been very smooth so far. I called LV - they sent an email to the bodyshop for an estimate. I sent my bodyshop pictures of the vehicle and they priced it up and sent to LV. LV accepted the quote and arranged a hire care which I picked up on Monday evening. Bodyshop trailered the RX away on Tuesday and i've had confirmation that its coming back on Wednesday next week. In the meantime, I have been given a Volvo XC90 B5 mild hybrid. I don't like it at all apart from the practicality side of things. Its quiet, little road noise but that diesel engine sounds awful, like a goat! The suspension is odd, there's way too much lateral movement over rough roads and you can feel all that weight shifting when turning the car. Something else I noticed after driving an XC90 for the first time. The interior quality is unusual. Its built well but the materials below the amrest are horrid. The plastics are so thin and tinny in the door cards that the VW Golf we've bought has better quality door cards (which are also felt lined). Odd vehicle. RX handles better than this and is more refined overall in my opinion. XC90 seems to be smoother on the motorway and larger roads but I dont know if thats because mine is an F-Sport.
  12. I have strong suspicions that this is a cloned car - I have reported it to the Met Police online so will see if anything comes of it. It looks like the dealer has bought it from an auction as the previous pictures before the dealer ones are all auction pics
  13. Thats usually because its been overtightened and the threads have got stuck, so the head keeps moving when trying to screw off and pings back into the original position until it eventually snaps right off.
  14. My car has the plastic screws - never had an issue with them to be honest but I do spray them with silicone before I screw them on. The other issue is when the dealer overtightens them so they dont come out. Other cars have got WURTH number plate surrounds which are much better in my view.
  15. I was looking at the back one! Mainly because the left side looks like the little bump is more visible!
  16. Looks very nice - I think the Takumi / less sportier specs suit the type of car much more. However....... am i seeing a wonky number plate or is it just the angle 😅
  17. It seems a bit suspicious. I would definitely report this. The reg and MOT is showing registered in 2017 which it obviously isnt as it has the new bumpers and the interior as well
  18. Its just one of those things though isn't it. Likely an exception to the rule. I dont think theres been that many RCF shock failures at all even when looking at the US which sell a lot more of these cars. From the RC-F crew you're probably the first in the UK to have had this From an overall perspective Lexus as a brand are massively reliable compared to other premium marques
  19. Thats a thing of the past. Most manufacturers only change the affected side - they dont sag or droop like they did in the old days
  20. Be persistent. Ive tried it a few times it works very well. My RX was 3 days of out Relax warranty mainly based on the date I could schedule the service for and it had a dodgy wheel bearing. Would have been covered if 3 days earlier. Email to Lexus UK and they refunded half. Your car has low miles, it shouldn't have happened and isnt really wear and tear on the basis of low mileage. 60k miles and above it may be a different story
  21. https://www.lexus.co.uk/help-centre Scroll down to Still need assistance and fill in the Contact Lexus form. Generally speaking the cars are bombproof and extremely reliable. Doesnt make them absolutely immune to all problems and it usually is bad batch of parts on a very small number of cars causing the issues.
  22. Shock absorbers and springs arent included in the relax warranty. Does make sense I suppose from a wear and tear perspective especially with the state of our roads However, the car does have low mileage. I suggest a strong email to Lexus customer services will get you some sort of compensation as the mileage is quite low, especially if there is a full Lexus service history. The IS300h had a shock absorber go at 20k miles. Had some kind of leak in the rear shocks. Its well known part issue on some of them. Another problem is that its clear the car hasnt been driven enough. Normally you'd expect 13k miles to be done in 13 months so well within manufacturers warranty but it gets complicated on low mileage cars
  23. Be careful A lot of these ceramic sprays dont actually have true ceramic in them. Its just a marketing term in the majority of these sprays. A true ceramic spray will require some sort of cure time, usually about 24 hours and need applying to polished, prepared paint. There is one I know of called Infinity wax synergy lite that has a 30 mins cure time and can be used outdoors. The rest of these sprays are actually just quick detailers with a bit of ceramic in there.
  24. I have only had the solenoid issue and it was quite a common problem with the earlier ones. The new part has been revised and no problems since. I run mine from the mains electric.
  25. Zappi V2 is good. Great customer service when the locking solenoid stopped working under warranty. Guy was out within 2 days to sort it.
