  1. Michelins. I have them now. There was a noticeable difference from the OEM dunlop Sp sport 270 in terms of noise and grip. Economy has improved by 2 mpg too overnight which is good considering old tyres give better mpg readings compared to a new one. Also worth noting, they are m+s marked so theoretically should be better than a summer tyre in snow Best bit - 4k miles and only 0.5mm wear lol. They'll be running for 48k miles before they need changing!
  2. That wasnt connected services hacking. It was OBD2 port thefts, completely different. Connected services just gives you traffic and stuff - you cant really access the cars locking system or ignition system from the connected services
  3. Yeah it'll be 20 days overdue but either bang on 30k or about 30,100 at most.
  4. Shouldn't be a problem. Mpg wise you should see about the same mpg or higher. Road tax should be similar to the IS250 too. Sat nav will be ok. It'll work and take you on all the major routes but of course, it won't know the latest roads unless it's been updated which you can get done for about £150 at the dealers. Main thing to look out for on the older RXs are the wheels which can corrode, sticking brake calipers and rust on the underside. Sunroofs tend to play up and air suspension has issues on some. Make sure the belt is changed as it costs a fair bit unless the price is really good
  5. Warranty finished yesterday anyway lol. Yeah it was quite weird that the receipt said service and MOT but only MOT had been done. Any chances this would affect resale value at all? Or trade in price?
  6. Long story short, I booked the 30k service at Lexus Bradford for my RX450h along with an MOT and full valet for the 27th of May. I picked my car up on the 29th but the service book hadn't been stamped. The aftersales person said they'd stamp it and I could pick it up the following week. I totally forgot that week so went this week on the 10th of June to get my service book. Apparently a service hadn't been done on the 27th, they basically kept my car for 2 days to do a full valet and an MOT! :O Now the service has been booked for the 17th of June, being just 10 days shy of a full month overdue because of this. Does this lead to any major issues? Should I get them to put 27th May as the date in the book and on their service checklist?
  7. Expensive products are just a waste. What you want is something cheap and effective. Look at Autosmart Products, it's what the valeters use
  8. On the upside, I'd rather have a written off car than a repaired one
  9. No need to be worried - the sonus one is quite good in that it finishes down very well. You can use a Finishing pad to max out the gloss and a polishing pad to get rid of swirls if need be. Most of the time, I just end up using a Finishing pad and Megs 205 as it seems to remove the small swirls without being OTT and buffs the gloss up too. I wash the car myself so it never really gets too bad - just a quick finishing pad and polish once a year is fine for me.
  10. Worth noting that if you wash your car over the winter, dont leave the parking brake on. It'll seize up. Either wash and go for a drive to dry the brakes and then put the parking brake on or just leave the parking brake off.
  11. Meguiars 205 or Sonus Perfect Finish with a DAS6 on a finishing or polishing pad. Then stick a coat of wax/sealant on.
  12. I've got a Merc too. The Lexus ones seem to hold up better than Merc wheels
  13. The car is always cleaned after the service, blame the valeter mate. Also, worth noting that in the US there is a huge lawsuit of unintended acceleration on the RXh. Could be that and not the mat itself.
  14. I have to disagree on you there. I have had 2 Lexus RX's, one was a 2004 RX300 which I owned from new, no corrosion on wheels when selling at 8 years old with 55k miles. Those wheels weren't even sealed in their lifetime as I wasnt into it then. My RXh is 3 years old and I have had a kerbed wheel for 2.5 years. Noc orrosion from the bare alloy on show, 30k miles completed too. Few questions I always ask when someone complains of corrosion: 1) Are there any kerbing marks or stone chips? 2) Who cleans the wheels? 3) What wheel cleaner is being used? and at what dilution? 4) How many miles has the wheel covered? 5) Have the tyres been changed at any point? Even if fitting winter tyres! (which miraculously people tend to forget) 6) Are the wheels sealed? 7) Any Tar remover or Iron remover ever been used on them? The purpose of these questions are not to blame you if there is a discrepancy but its to make sure it doesnt happen again when you get a new set.
  15. Except dealers are giving close to £8k discounts off new bringing the price pretty close to a 300h. I think the current going on the GS300h is £3k new
  16. Direct Injection mate, GS250's are pretty much bulletproof. Is it like a "turbo" surge or a sensation of more power. 4k RPM is pretty close to peak power in the 250, could just be that.
  17. Yep, same here. You can remove the programming. Im not sure how but there must be some owners who can chime in or you could always take a look at youtube lol
  18. Simples! You must have held the unlock button on the fob causing all the windows and sunroof to open Then, as the car senses that the door has not been opened, it locks itself which would induce the alarm to go off. Small vibrations can set it off including wind or something moving inside. The new RX's are programmed not to open their windows when holding the unlock button as there were a lot of complaints about this happening. Some people woke up to soaked vehicles after a night of heavy rain.
  19. 100% DVLA error. It should say 26,100 miles. Therefore in 20 days the owner will have done 219 miles which makes 109.5 miles in 10 days which is pretty realistic
  20. I did that 3 years ago when I got my car. I collected on a Saturday morning at 9, rolled up in the house at 10 and got on with protection (I asked for no PDI, just removal of stickers and inspection). My wife was like "WTF?!" Hmm beans on toast you say? Toast is valuable, beans and a spoon should suffice!
  21. or....... you could just keep it a secret :P Just roll up in it one day lol
  22. The side profile doesn't look right, could be mistaken for any other car on the road too! Looks abit odd at the rear. The IS looks just right from the side IMO.
  23. I was originally looking at a Toyota Auris Hybrid (although really wanted the Lexus), and came the same reasoning with that, the difference in cost meant I might as well just get a brand new one from drive the deal. But then I looked at what that money could buy on a 1 year old car and then got quite excited when I realised that an IS300h was (almost) within my grasp, but what are credit for if not bridging the Gap! Good luck. If you do find any nasty surprises you can reject the car of course :)
