  1. Rear wheel bearings gone? Quite simple to fix - I doubt itd be the rear differential unless theyve messed with it :O
  2. NX has too much weight to carry around so fuel economy is always going to bad. Bigger engines seem to get better fuel efficiency in bigger cars as they are not under as much strain as a smaller engine. For reference my RXh is heavier than an NX, I don't try to get great mpg, I just drive normally and i'm getting a good 30mpg consistently. If I really try, I can get athe claimed 45mpg which makes the NX300H quite pathetic really. However, having said that, I was talking to a good friend of mine who is an engineer at Jaguar. He said that an engine should be driven the way you'd normally drive the car and that helps long term with fuel efficiency. He says that run in periods are a bit hit and miss and it's designed to suit the average driving style.
  3. Surprised at that mpg, is it manual or auto? I've had mine since new (13 reg), it's now done 21000 miles, no rattles, quiet for a diesel - in fact silent at the side of my b-i-l's Mondeo. From what I've read on here, the Lexus won't return the mpg I'm getting, but as petrol is cheaper than diesel, it shouldn't matter. Can't wait to get it! Wife's has 74k on it now and it's an auto. I'm on about the engine specifically, it rattles too much IMO, but then, this is my first experience with a diesel. I've only ever owned petrol cars
  4. You do realise its illegal to have speed camera warnings in France right? lol
  5. My wife has a C220 albeit an older version without the stop start. Frankly, I think its crap lol - rattles like a ship, things going wrong, only 27mpg in my hands - my RX gets more lol
  6. You can just keep them in the boot. Figured out why the Lexus sat nav turns off camera warnings in France - because its illegal lol
  7. Except you'll be pretty shocked on the pricing front. The new Q7 with a bog standard 3.0 TDI in S-Line guise (the only one actually worth buying if you dont want to take a huge hit on depreciation) hits £65-68k specified to the level of the 2016 RX450h F-Sport which is estimated to be around that price too. Put hybrid into the equation in an Audi and you have a car which will easily be £85k if not more! Also - its rather ugly isn't it?
  8. Air pollution my arse lol, surely a car going at 60mph is going to take longer to get from A to B than a car going at 70mph. I bet there isn't much difference at all.
  9. As above! Next time you go on a long trip, spray wd40 on the front before setting off. It stops the bugs sticking and you'll just need a microfiber to clean it up
  10. Itll happen on most cars. If you wash the car a thin layer of rust will form on the brakes. When combined with a lot of water and sub zero temperatures, it tends to freeze pretty badly. Only happened once mind and that was because I left it for 3 weeks after washing with the parking brake on. It wont happen if the parking brake isnt on
  11. Probably my driving style then :/ I did drive it like I stole it. I loved the car, goes as well as you'd want in day to day driving and stops pretty good too
  12. No brake creaking on the 64 plate loaner I had. No sounds at all actually apart from the whine when coming to a stop and slight whine when moving along in EV
  13. To my knowledge, no plans for the IS-F yet - but have been told that its not completely off the cards. The only problem Lexus have now is, if they bring out the IS-F, the RC-F is going to get a pretty bad hit and tbh I think itll be obsolete. The GS-F will have to be very competitive on price. As far as Im concerned, its probably not worth paying anymore than £65k for a basic GS-F as I cant see it offering much more than the RC-F apart from 2 extra doors, an extra seat and a larger boot. Putting a price hike of £10k + would be very silly.
  14. The interface is a good 3 years old now. You can't use Google maps. Probably not what you want to hear after buying a new one but the 4th Gen RX is coming out end of this year so that'll have all the updates to the interface with connected services and the lot. Still no Google maps but a much better looking map though
  15. It causes extra stress on the engine components. There used to be cooling issues back in the 80's and you had to cool the car down for 2 minutes before turning it off. I think this is states in the NX200t owners manual too, but dont know how relevant this actually is in modern engines. There was a lawsuit against BMW for the N54 engine back in the states. They had to put the car under warranty for 10 years/120k miles as it had pump issues. No manufacturer worth their salt would produce an engine that over stressed components nowadays. Things have moved on considerably since the 80's, particularly on the design and manufacturing tolerances side. Look at all the Mitsubishi Evo's (FQ300's and FQ400's as an example) and Subaru WRX's out there that have done many thousands of miles with no hitches. This engine looks quite interesting to me, and i'm curious why they have gone for an air to water intercooler as that introduces quite a lot of weight, but maybe in a less sporty car like the IS weight is not the biggest consideration. I'll be interested to test drive it when it is launched. No matter what the manufacturers say, it always causes more stress on the components than an NA engine. Apparently the weight of the engine is only 167kg. No idea if that's good or not lol but it's lower than the 250
  16. Honda you can truant, Renault and Ford not so much. I can see IS200T selling very well in America as it has a good balance of power and cost. With enough torque as the IS350, it'll feel pretty spritely

  18. The Lexus drivetrains are designed to outlast the likes of BMW, Mercedes etc. Hell, Mercedes just got 181hp out of a 2.0l in the C200 lol. We all know 340hp from a 2.0 turbo is possible but itll start having problems near 100k guaranteed. My Merc C220 is already having things going wrong, its only 150hp and 74k miles. I applaud Lexus for doing that but unfortunately 99% of new car buyers will never see 100k miles and just buy on performance spec. Only USA where high miles are the norm Lexus outsell BMW. They'll realise when it goes POP lol. Lexus main market is USA anyway and hence they need a car which works well over there more so than it does here We all know 340hp from a 2.0 turbo is possible but itll start having problems near 100k guaranteed. Why's that then? It causes extra stress on the engine components. There used to be cooling issues back in the 80's and you had to cool the car down for 2 minutes before turning it off. 19. Id buy it - but it'd probably have to be an ex-demo or something. No way am I taking a £15k hit in the first 6 months lol
  20. Hybrid brakes are slightly different. They'll essentially use regenerative braking which stops the car when braking lightly. Under heavy braking it switches to the actual brakes. Its slightly tricky at first to judge it but you get used to it in the end. No idea on the suspension - the loaner I had did not make any unusual noises including rattles or suspension noises. Again, don't use the 12V power cord apart from pumping up the tyres with a compressor.
  21. Lexus dont try to squeeze out every drop of power though. Im sure they could get 300 hp out of the turbo but it wouldnt be as reliable. Id like to see how this Alfa lasts as well, i'd imagine its more than £54k, close to £65k

  23. Latitude Tour HP. Absolutely faultless so far, nice soft ride, grips well too and eerily quiet. Nothing comes close to them in terms of low noise levels. Only bad thing I guess would be that it has loads and loads of sipes which stones of various sizes get stuck into if you've been on a gravel road or driveway.
