  1. £2010 actually, RC-F has 252g/km so misses out on highest band but then have to pay £310 extra! Theyll pay £450 for the next 4 years too. Currently, owners have to pay £860 in the first year and £500 thereafter The good thing with the new VED bands is that you can buy a 5 year old RC-F and only pay £140 tax lol.
  2. Nice! You won't be disappointed. It's a much improved car compared to the 350. Price should be set between £5850 - £6275, obviously towards the lower end if you want a quick sale but bear in mind that you want to give your elf room for negotiations.
  3. I'd say buying an NX300H after 1st April 2017 or any hybrid for that matter will not be worth it. Tax is only based on CO2 for one year and then itll be £140 a year or £450 for first 5 years if car is more than £40k
  4. I had clear wrap on my black RX300 - took it off after 2 years as I got fed up with it. The main issues I noticed: 1) Its expensive for what you actually get - a respray a year is cheaper if only using for 2 years 2) Although the paint doesnt come off, it pits, leaving a golf ball effect on the car. On my RX300 it wasnt too bad as the bumper is quite high, still noticeable though! Id imagine its worse on the IS-F considering the bumper is lower 3) Scratches are ALWAYS put in when the clear wrap is installed - you can sometimes see these in sunlight under the wrap! That particularly ****** me off as I couldnt polish them out! 4) Did have a slight tinge of yellow to it making the car appear darker at the front - not a cool look at all. This was supposed to be the 3M industry standard. 5) You can see the clear coat sitting on top of the paint if you're close enough
  5. Hmm coming back to that - after my service, the service tech put my tyre pressures down to 32. Im getting 26mpg now in my RX lol. Plan is to fill back up to 37psi on Friday! No noticeable difference in ride at all, handling seems adversely affected by low pressures however. The RX just doesnt like corners at 32psi. 37psi and it can handle them pretty well taking its heft into account. Might be worth pumping all pressures to 37psi to see what happens?
  6. You sure they been refurbed? Some Lexus dealers just change the wheels out and save the other ones until they get 4, repaint and then stick them on another car all the same colour
  7. Worth remembering though that any option you do add to the car will diminish in value over time. IE if selling a car optioned with £2k sat nav and £1k panoramic roof, itll only be worth £1-1.5k more than the same car without them 6 months down the line
  8. White is pretty bad too - if you drive enough and have deep stone chips, the base coat on the Arctic Pearl cars is actually black lol. It ends up looking like you have tar spots all over
  9. Older people with low mileage tend to get rock bottom insurance prices lol - Im paying close to £600!!
  10. With all things being identical, surely going for the one with less mileage makes more sense? Its been used less, hence, less wear on certain components on the car. Everyone knows a Lexus can handle high mileage but do you really want to be closer to its death whenever that may be? Cosmetically id expect a lower mileage one to be better too although there are exceptions Worth noting that dealers have more leeway on pricing and the condition of the vehicles are usually top notch, again there are exceptions but this is the general case.
  11. Nope, 30k here in 3 years. Still as quiet as day 1
  12. My car list is tiny! 1982 Ford fiesta in some shade of blue - bought in an auction in 1996 1999 VW Passat Sport 1.8T - again bought in auction in 2002. It was in Futura Yellow and had bulletproof glass lol 2004 Lexus RX300 SE in astral black - from new 2004 Mercedes C220 CDI in perlite grey- 2 years old from dealer. Still got this one 2012 Lexus RX450H F Sport in Arctic pearl- from new
  13. Although I would have liked a panoramic sunroof - I opted not to have one. For me, dark interiors feel more cosy and I like how the interior stays dark at night.
  14. This is where agreed value policies come in. If your Lexus really is your pride & joy then I would definitely recommend getting an agreed value policy, it saves any debate and delay if the worst does happen. I have one of these on my Supra, due to its rarity. The ones ive checked always seem to have certain criteria you need to fill eg: 1) Car must be over 20 years old 2) Driven less than 5000 miles a year 3) Not your main car 4) Named drivers over a certain age etc etc
  15. Definitely in the case with the 300h. But then they've cornered themselves by only having the 200t available in F-Sport trim. Im sure they'd sell more if they were in Premier or Luxury spec
  16. The original colour is the way to go - be warned however, get all 4 done as there is no official colour code for Lexus wheels so just try to match them as close as possible.
  17. Is there any chance water could have gone through the mats in those areas during the winter and stayed there causing mold growth?
  18. In the wrong section mate, hopefully Colin can get it moved to the IS300h section. Anyways - You could try higher profile tyres, although its best to check with the insurance company first. Which IS trim have you got? If you have the Premier or F-Sport, you may have some luck moving to 17" or even 16" wheels. Personally I find the suspension very good - its great for handling, yet smooth enough to be comfortable. You may have to move up to the RX for a smoother ride as the IS is pretty comfortable.
  19. When it comes to insurance companies I go for the cheapest deal and this is why - 1) its highly unlikely im going to claim on it unless I get hit or hit someone, or my car is severely vandalised ie petrol bombed or sprayed all over with brake fluid (or something of that severity) 2) Ive been with 40+ different insurance companies, I switch every year on both cars - they all have crap customer service anyway when something needs changing - even when you go for a company which is defaqto rated. ATM I am with Chris Knott and fingers crossed, I have had no problems, even when some details needed changing (other companies take the ***** sometimes and try to charge you admin costs when they got it wrong in the first place) 3) Paying extra doesnt necessarily give you better return if you do crash your car. They'll all give you rock bottom trade price if you have an accident and the car is written off and they all give you a new car in the first year and if you are the first owner so there's barely any difference in policies apart from if you add extras
  20. Well the NX300h system has been lifted from the ES300h, not the IS300h/GS300h which have a different setup. Lexus tend to make yearly revisions though, so its very likely that all options may eventually become available in the UK. Its also possible that another trim grade could surface, for example an NX Advance. If the new RX450h F-Sport is £65k (which I think is very likely), then id be considering an RX200t as I have heard the gearing on the 200t is very good from insiders. Of course, I may also just purchase an ex-demo, they're mostly in good condition (nothing that I cant sort out with a DA polisher), i predict the RX to take a £15k hit in the first 6 months anyway and I have no interest of having my name as number 1 on the logbook lol. oh and ive finally got the figures on the 4RX weight! Its a whole 10kg lighter than the current model at 2030kg!! OK now that doesn't sound like much but when you consider its got 12cm longer with extra stiffening and more sheet metal, they've probably saved about 100kg from what it would have been
  21. Classic example of all or nothing principle - IS250 or no IS at all! However, the IS250 is not actually very much shorter or narrower than an RX400h. The only area she'll be downsizing in is height, boot space and rear legroom.
  22. The main problem with the NX is that it has no power to fuel economy ratio lol. The RX has a bigger engine and weighs more yet still manages similar mpg figures. This is also set to improve with the new RX, with mpg figures identical to the NX300H. In that case, Lexus screwed the NX over with a 300h in order to save customers £30 or so in road tax and enhance their frustration when climbing hills Im guessing the 450h in the NX in a detuned state at around 230-240 combined hp would be providing real world 40mpg on a regular basis too taking into account the lower strain the engine has to cope with compared to an RX and of course the NX has slimmer tyres on it whichll help
  23. Also, the current RX is not much larger than an NX but is much smoother with greater sound deadening. Of course, MPG wise, im getting 30mpg regularly and I have not adjusted my driving style in any way. I have achieved 40-42mpg on a 30mile run when actually trying so it almost renders the NX economy as an embarassment considering its got 101hp less with poor rolling acceleration. The worst aspect of the NX is the lack of features available on F-Sport grades. Lexus is targeting younger buyers but the features arent available, even as an option so thats the main deal breaker for a lot of people I have spoken to. They have either bought an RX or moved to another brand. From driving the NX, I found it a pain on hills. I live in Yorkshire so hills are everywhere, going up them in an NX is a rather annoying affair. It seems like it can't pull itself up steep hills sometimes. Also, the middle seatbelt comes from the roof! That annoyed the hell out of me on the motorway with my kid in the middle seat! Im not a fan of the touchpad either. I dont find it anywhere as good as the Remote Touch system - I accidently click things by pressing down on it too hard! In terms of in car tech - Id rate the Premier as great but the others are frankly rubbish - half of the features just arent available!!
  24. Have you shampooed the carpets to see if it comes off? I have the same problem in my wife's merc which has a full grey interior. apparently it's bleaching of the carpets and won't come off
  25. I'm thinking may be fitting the F-sport front bumper/nose on to our non-sport version once prices fall, and parts starts appearing on eBay etc. Cannot see it been that hard to do :) The parts wont be a problem - the hardest bit will be matching the Sonic Titanium lol
