  1. It should have that ability - it may just be disabled at the moment. I was driving around in a new IS250 Premier courtesy car, and that locked the doors above 15mph. Have you trawled through the vehicle settings menu in the nav screen?
  2. Awww... the Germans having a crack at hybrid powertrains... that's cute :P
  3. I wonder when will Lexus roll out the next LS. The current model has been on sale for almost 8 years.
  4. Very good read, thanks for sharing, Steve :) Will have a peek under the car later to see if the GS is fortunate enough to be blessed with golf ball dimples on the suspension arms too...
  5. Congrats Nigel, the car looks ace! :D I actually like the GS sport wheels on it ;)
  6. Looks good! Would the TPMS sensors swap over with no issues then?
  7. I reckon that for the low speeds in which the Lexus hybrids travel silently, you'd be slow enough to come to a halt should anyone come in your path unknowingly. Any quicker, you'd get tyre noise, and quicker still, the engine fires up. That said, it freaked my dad out the first few times he rode in my car when the engine would just shut off while waiting at roundabouts or junctions. :P
  8. Thanks for clearing that up Roheel. Just checked the website again and my car is back on the list.
  9. Just checked mine and it's no longer recalled too? So this weirdness stretches to more than one model then...
  10. I'm 31 and a bit of a tech lover, so decided to experiment with more advanced powertrains. Just swapped my IS200 and 745i for a GS hybrid, and boy am I blown away. In fact, I love its powertrain so much that my next cars will most definitely be electrified in some form or shape, be it a hybrid or full EV. It will also need to be able to self-drive through traffic jams (we're getting there). So here's something for you, Santa: 3rd-gen Lexus IS + GS450h powertrain. 0-60mph in 5 sec, 40mpg average, with instant, smooth, and continuous supply of torque. One can only dream :)
  11. Don't think so. I've got a similar (if not identical) system in my GS, and had to get used to putting it in "Park" before switching it off.
  12. Nigel, that looks mint! I think you and I are going to be good friends. Here's mine: Originally powered by the L20S but now fitted with an L24E that was lifted off an R30 saloon. Just celebrated her 32nd birthday last month too. :) Oh, and welcome to the Lexus owners club! :D
  13. Taken from another thread in this forum, here's an alternative site to check if your vehicle is subject to the recall: http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/reference-library/#/RecallInformation Mine is affected...
  14. Pah... mine is affected too <_< Thanks for sharing the site. This would be the 3rd recall for my car; the first two being the engine valve-spring and the towbar mounting points (although it never had one fitted...)
  15. I've still got a set of winter tyres from my IS200. Seeing that early high-milers can be had for several hundred quid these days, I am considering buying one back as a winter runabout :)
  16. I will also keep an eye on this thread. Not because I need a 60k service on an IS-F, but rather curious on how dealers can have such huge variances on their pricing!
  17. I saw more Lamborghinis than Lexuses during my last roadtrip around the continent :P
  18. Here you go matey: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-third-generation/531188-turn-off-power-easy-access-system.html Oh, and congratulations on the RX! Photos or it didn't happen... :P
  19. I should be free on that day and I'm up for either (pub/Bluewater). So whatever the venue, count me in! :)
  20. I'd contest it mate. It either has a warranty or it doesn't. There is no such thing as 50% warranty. If it passed the hybrid health check, then it will be warranted for a year. They should have a copy of the report if you last serviced the car there. Let us know how you get on :) My copy of the health check warranty is in the glove box of the car, which is at Lexus at the moment (corrosion repair). Will share the details when I receive the car on Sunday if no one else has by then.
  21. Hi Paul, that GS looks the business (not sure about the roof racks though!) Tony is a veteran with the GS450h, although this one does have rather low milage so I think very little could go wrong. The usual suspect for early 3rd gen GS's is interior trim rattle/creaks, so do listen out for them during the test drive. I noticed that the cup holder lid on the centre console is open in the photos - make sure it shuts and stays shut. The latch on mine is a bit dodgy so sometimes it self-opens when I go over a bump! There is a valve-spring recall for that engine so please make sure that there are records of it having been addressed at Lexus. Servicing of this car is similar to that of its petrol-only counterparts (oil, filter, and such), so I think a mix of dealer and independant stamps shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure they were carried out at the correct intervals (10k/1 year). That's all I can think of at the moment other than the usual used car buying proviso (check that all accessories work, rust bubbles, etc..). Apart from that, it's a cracking car to drive! :D
