  1. Whereabouts does the oil control valve sit? And what does it do?
  2. To be honest, @B1RMA, I feel that this colour (body and wheel) combo looks best on the RC-F 😉
  3. Lovely car, welcome to the club! As @royoftherovers said, these cars are stealthily quick and so keep a keen watch over the speedo! 😉👍
  4. This one's got me bobbing my head today 🙂 Duke Dumont - I Got U
  5. I think you'll also find that "the actor" is none other than Toyota's CEO 😉
  6. Nicely written review. Sometimes I wonder if the 3.5 V6 feels less refined than the 2.5 V6 because of the direct injection system (tappety-like noise). If you're achieving 20mpg town / 30mpg motorway, then the hybrid system would certainly feel like glorified stop-start 😛 Either that or HV batt is nearing EoL, but doubtful at such low miles.
  7. Very neat, John, many thanks for sharing! My car has had the VVTi cam gear replaced under warranty but I might just attempt this this summer as preventative maintenance. I'm sure other V6 Lexus models would also benefit from this mod?
  8. Do you mean one needs to do a zero point calibration whenever one resets a check engine light via Techstream?
  9. My bad, John - poorly worded. Meant to express my surprise learning that the SC was that much stiffer than the 3GS, based on your experience comparing the two.
  10. Being put off by the ride after coming from a 3GS is really saying something!! 😱😅
  11. Yup, looks about right. And yes, it is a beep fest. Mine also goes a step further and chooses to immobilize itself during the snow by spinning the rear wheels helplessly. Must be a safety thing.
  12. For the rear, the same shock absorber is used on the left and right. That said, there are 2 different part numbers for the rear shocks, depending on the date of manufacture of your car. The prices of both are slightly different. If you send a message to Lexus Parts Direct with your vehicle reg, they will be able to advise the correct ones for your car.
  13. Fantastic car, fantastic condition, fantastic pictures! Thanks for sharing 🙂 Also refreshing to see the indicator and wiper stalks the "correct way around" 😀 Hope you can bring it to the club meet in April!
  14. Lovely car, welcome to the club! There is a club meet in April at the British Motor Museum in Warwickshire if you're keen 🙂
  15. Wow score! Late model with such low miles - you're off to a good start 😉 Answers to your questions: Not sure sorry - mine's an early model with analogue radio and cassette player 😛 Yes, but get ready to splice some wires (link). Yes, they do. You don't get real-time pressure shown on the display but you do get a warning sign when pressure on any of the tyres is low. Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy your car!
  16. Indeed! My rear shock failed MOT due to a leak whilst under extended warranty and three different Lexus dealers refused to replace it! Same with a hole in my centre exhaust section as well - their reasoning for the shock and exhaust were normal wear and tear and not manufacturing defect..
  17. My 2007 GS450h developed a knocking noise at the rear at roughly the same mileage. More audible at speeds <30mph and over uneven roads. My first thought was worn swaybar links but the real culprit was the rear shock absorber. The noise has disappeared since replacing the rear shock. That shock was also leaking quite badly at the point when it was replaced.
  18. Lee @Farqui, thanks for sharing 🙂 I've had mine for 5 years and almost 50k, and it's been fairly consistent throughout. The new shocks seem to have improved the ride comfort a little, and the car feels less floaty at higher speeds. Mine certainly needed replacing as the NSF and OSR shocks had been leaking quite badly. There was also a knocking noise coming from the rear shock. I replaced all four as I figured it was only a matter of time before the other two leaked as well. This is when I found out that cars before and after 2008 had different part numbers for the springs and shocks. I'm running Pirellis all round, at the default tyre pressure (35psi). Wheel alignment has been maintained by WIM over the years, and the car is generally pretty stable on the motorway, even with the heavy winds lately. Might experiment with different pressures as you mentioned. Interior rattles occur at various spots and come and go depending on the outside temperature. There is one set of rattles for winter and another for summer 😄. The sweet spot for this car seems to be 18 deg C (almost no rattles). I have fixed several along the way, such as the glovebox door rattle and rear power shade rattle, but just continue living with the others (very minor) 🙂
  19. But pies are supposed to be good at least for the ride comfort side of things, no? All those extra mass that the road undulations need to perturb... Indeed, if the VGRS ratio and AVS stiffness could be decoupled, things would be amazing. I wonder if it is possible to "trick" or modify the VGRS so that it defaults to a quicker ratio, via Techstream or some other hardware/software mods... The steering ratio that you get from Sports mode is pretty good actually. The feedback that you get from the road appears to be better too.
  20. Well, if Amayama.com is anything to go by, both LHD and RHD GS300 share the same radiator part number (16400-31390). So... you might be in luck?
