  1. Would that be enough time to allow the engine to cool and change the oil?
  2. If looks is not important you could use some black insulation tape?
  3. A simple thing I do when dropping off family cars at dealers is make a video of the car all the way round in their car park which includes the odometer.
  4. a quick search shows this: cheapest one: LEXUS LS460 ELECTRIC STEERING RACK 44200-50220 (nipponautospares.com) twice as much: Buy Genuine Toyota 4420050220 (44200-50220) Link Assy, Power Steering. Prices, fast shipping, weight - Amayama serious money if it goes wrong There is VGRS issue with these which dealers normally diganose as steering rack replacement but 1/2 members have mentioned this can be sorted with a software upgrade.
  5. a bit optimistic I think! 1990 Grey Lexus LS 400 4.0 Saloon 4dr Petrol Automatic (241 bhp) for sale for £9,075 in HENLOW, BEDFORDSHIRE (autotrader.co.uk)
  6. Hi I would say yes you should be investing in a Faraday Pouch because 1) Thieves target high value, new and desireable cars - yours is one. 2) Any system can be over-ridden eventually - so even if the system is new and smart, the risk is still there. Some members recommend a visible steering lock - this works well because it deters a thief from a distance. hope this helps
  7. sounds good Is yours a facelift? I'm sure I've seen pre and post facelift in that year and pics please
  8. If this issue is similar to the one on the 430 then it could be ride height sensors - Water ingress causes a short resulting in them being stuck on high and very bouncy ride - fix is usually to replace them (or remove and clean electrics)
  9. Has your 430 had a radiator change recently?
  10. My 430 has just turned over 160 and it still runs perfectly I think unless you are a great fan of the LS460 (for whatever reason) it doesn't have much going for it. It is slightly thirstier It is higher tax bracket The interior quality lacks a bit - misaligned glovebox covers, sagged drivers seat/bolster and worn pillar trim are ones commonly found There is a steering angle sensor fault on them which is apparently expensive to fix Some members have said the 8 speed gearbox is not as smooth If I ever do upgrade (within the LS range) it would be facelift (2011 onwards) LS600h
  11. Thy look smart - but I noticed both have the orange peel effect towards the bonnet end - why did the paint react?
  12. HI I replaced this on my previous 430 and I swear the garage only took 10 minutes 😁 Hope yours gets sorted soon
  13. I've had EML in the past due to oxygen sensor Other things it could be hole in exhaust (even a pinhole), loose or broken seal on petrol cap, loose / cracked intake pipe which would cause an imbalance in the air/fuel ratio. In this case I would it has something to do with LPG side of things. It might be worth investing an OBD code reader (blutooth type) - few members have mentioned Carista
  14. i've had ferrodo in the past on my Mark 4 - they are well suited to this car - smooth braking with no groan when coming to a stop
  15. looking great john! Here's mine after a quick wash - sadly it has many imperfections
  16. As you say these are aftermarket and probably obsolete. You could try pulling one out slightly and measure the hole size and see how this compares to a hole required to replace them with some modern ones. I fitted these myself to 2 different LSs in the past and it can be done without needing to remove the bumper. IIRC the ones i fitted had rubber prongs to hold them in the hole. The prongs allowed about 2.5mm play room. I remember my very first LS (around 2006/7) was a mark 3 and it came fitted with a set of Steelmate sensors with a visual display - when one of the sensors started playing up I found out they were also discontinued.
  17. I have to disagree with OEM on this one I bought and fitted pads for my LS430 from LPD (Textar). Didn't think much of them at the time. After having them fitted I noticed they made a ssshhh sound at slow speeds and they gave alot of brake dust. I have now replaced them with EBC Ultimax - these are better in every sense - cheaper, smoother braking - good bite and zero dust.
  18. The advert only appeared on Autorader was then removed - the car was mint - the cream leather did not even have a hairline on it - below is what I found left on google images Elite Motor Company - they only sell pristine cars anyway
