  1. Indeed. The legroom in the back was amazing. In comparison to the first Gen, it appears that Lexus have really thought about the comfort of the rear passengers. I really would like a new IS300h, but realistically, I'm probably looking at another 3 years before I replace my car and even then, it may only be 59plate IS250. Here's hoping my numbers come up on the lottery. On a brighter note though, Claire from Lexus Cardiff telephoned today to say that everyone who attended the Launch at Cottrell Park Golf Resort were entered into a prize draw and that I had won a digital Camera. Thank You.
  2. Sounds like a good price. I'm assuming they've decided to lower their car, as opposed to the shocks or springs being broken. For your piece of mind, ring your local Lexus dealership and ask how much they would charge for new replacement is200 Sport Shocks and Springs. £120 sounds good.
  3. Hi Adam. Welcome to the LOC and is200 ownership. If the car is still on Lexus Shocks, and they are not in need of repair, keep them. You shouldn't need to change them. They will work with whatever springs you use. I'm saving up for some Eibachs. But my wife decided to get pregnant instead. . . . Lol. My opinion, don't waste your money on interim springs. Save and wait for Eibach. Enjoy the ride as Lexus designed it for a couple of months and then get the springs. Also, get your alignment and tracking done. Lexus settings chew up the front tyres. The rears don't last too long either . . .
  4. Svetoslav. I don't want you to think that we don't think you can do it. But there are so many difficulties in getting it right. Does your insurance, even on third party fire and theft, really not have windscreen cover? Find out how much it would be to have this upgraded on your insurance. We do not want you to injure yourself or risk damaging your car. I'm sorry if we don't appear to be helpful.
  5. Practicality may be worth a bit of a mention at this point. THE REAR SEATS DO NOT FOLD DOWN IN THE SALOON!?! I purchased the SportCross (estate) and was told by many members that the SportCross was the only variant with the folding seats. So if you want to consider practicality, it may be worth a look. They started making them in 2001 and lasted til 2005. There are only 1500 IS200/IS300 SportCross' on the road in Britain, so finding one locally may be an issue. Prices seem to start around £1500, but you get better headroom in the back and much more space in the boot. Fuel economy is the same (officially) and it's all down to how you drive. . . Lol.
  6. Hi Mike and Dave. Yeah, it does seem a little strange, because even though Adrian Flux are 'currently approving' these cameras, the insurance provider themselves could still turn around and say no. But I think Adrian Flux are such a well known broker now, that they probably have quite a bit of influence and if they claim to approve a device, then the provider will probably agree. . . . My opinion.
  7. Very easily and quickly. Jay, these guys are right mind, the price of 10 year old LS' are stupidly cheap and they are the top of luxury (from Lexus at the time)
  8. Ooooo. That's a good topic for discussion. Does the other driver appear able to pay for the damage? How approachable is he? Personally, I'm with you. I'd say, I don't want to ruin your insurance premiums. If you are able to pay for the damage, then we don't need to tell them. If you're not in a position to do this, then I will have to go through my insurance company . . . . .
  9. Hi and welcome to the LOC. Things to look out for. Make sure the cambelt has been changed. Lexus initially said every 100,000 miles, but some issues were found and they brought the figure forward to every 60,000 miles. So any vehicle over 100,000 miles, should've had at least one cambelt change. Some owners have reported issues with calipers sticking. If you take it out for a test drive, make sure you take the vehicle over 50mph to check if the brakes are seizing. Apparently it's not noticeable at slower speeds. The standard head unit has problems. So many people have had problems with the cd changer. Myself included. I replaced like for like and have not had any further issues, though, I've only had the car 6 months. The car is pretty bullet proof in all other areas. Check for modded suspension. If it's been lowered, but still on stock shock absorbers, then you'll be fine. And of course . . . . Check all the buttons on the test drive.
  10. Also, sounds obvious, but if you're trying to think economy, stay away from the sport. The ride will be firmer and the accelerator response will be quicker and thus, the fuel economy will be worse.
  11. The IS200 can be driven economically, but it will take a lot of work. And permanent use of the Snow Mode. The ride and build quality are superb, as an LS driver, you know that. :-)
  12. I'm good too, enjoying the weather and trying to get the baby's room finished. The technology and integrated GPS in the more expensive devices looks good, but it's all additional information that the Insurance Providers . . . . 'Could possibly'. . . . Use against the driver.
  13. They are very nice to drive. The IS300h is fantastic. They have integrated the electric hybrid train very well and the pull in 'eco' mode is brilliant. The rear seats fold down as well. . . . . Woohoo. It does make a difference. I think you're right, they probably won't sell too many petrol only IS', but I do expect the Fsport to sell well. I like being part of this exclusive club called 'Lexus'
  14. I think the turbocharged 4 cylinders will be used in the Fsport models. The Lexus cars can have the larger wheels fitted, but if it's done at the dealership, they have to notify VOSA to alter the emissions figures. If you buy the car on 16"'s, then buy the larger wheels and fit them later, you keep the emissions figures of first purchase unless YOU choose to notify VOSA. Odd!
  15. No way. Ravi. I'm really sorry to hear you've had such problems. Maybe a new head unit will get your tunes going . . .
  16. No need to apologise. If you had the money, would you go for the 6 cylinder IS250? Or the 4 cylinder hybrid IS300h? The 300h in base spec SE is free road tax and 65.7 MPG. BUT!?! Only if you take the 16" wheels . . . .
  17. Hi Roger. I did indeed and have posted a small review under the reviews section. The car was very nice.
  18. I totally agree with you. The savings in Insurance Policy against the cost of the devices will not be a financially viable prospect for at least 5 years. If the insurance providers are prepared to support with the cost of the devices, then maybe. Yes there are a number of other devices which are much cheaper and just as capable and I'm not sure if there are any instances of the lesser models' footage being dismissed as ineligible in Insurance claims, that stat may be useful. This thread was for information purposes only and I thought it may be helpful for some. How are you Ian?

  20. Yes. Thank you. I do believe that Motorways should increase the speed limit (In the outside lane) to 80, maybe even 85 MPH. Cars are so much safer now and capable of doing these speeds safely. But around towns, B roads and even country lanes, there should be more speed cameras. People drive too dangerously around some of these roads.
  21. And this is why I think that there should be more cameras . . . . lol. I do agree with you. There should speed restricted times as well as roads. There is a flyover in Cardiff at the Gabalfa Interchange. This piece of road is 30MPH, as are all the other roads around it until you hit the dual carriage way. This flyover, EVERYBODY speeds up to around 50 and then slows for the speed camera at the bottom. EVEN THE **** BUSES!!!!! I want a Speed camera at the top of the flyover. Because I think it is dangerous that everyone speeds up when there is not a change in the speed limit. Yes, I am a nuisance for remaining at the speed limit and I'd be the unlucky ******* when some idiot has driven into the back of me simply because everyone else has sped up and they think that there must've been a change in the speed limit that they've missed . . . . . .
  22. Of all of the cars that they have listed, I think these are prices for conversions and not for the car as well. Why would you do LPG and Hydrogen? One or the other, surely?
  23. What a fantastically hot day. A big thank you to Claire and Jason ( and to the other gentleman, who I don't recall his name) It was really good to see the three generations of the IS together. A review of the IS300h (it's a 4 cylinder 2.5 mated to the hybrid system.) It rides very comfortably in the Premier edition I test drove. The IS300h SE on 16" wheels emits only 99microgams of CO2 Which means it will be exempt from road tax, yet the IS300h in both Luxury and Premier editions will have 17" wheels and they each emit 101microgrammes of CO2 and thus will not be exempt from Road Tax. Jason did try to explain, but I just couldn't quite get my head round it. The new IS range feature folding seats in the rear and a fully integrated multimedia screen on the dash. Very nice. I'm going to start saving the pennies, but. . 2.5litre engine £0 Road Tax Fuel economy 65.7 MPG That's going to take a while to sink in. . . . . .
  24. Hi Billnick. It's no placebo, but it's not the fuel it restricts. The snow mode regulates the accelerator and the engines response. I use it all the time. Yes you use less fuel, but it's because snow mode doesn't allow the engine to over rev and it also responds slower. It's the early part of the development that manufacturers turned into eco buttons. . . . . .
