  1. You dont want to keep turning it over if it doesnt fire up, you could flood the spark plugs resulting you removing them and needing a wipe down.
  2. Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade my current setup, I have a LG NB4530 soundbar, bought it a few years ago based on the excellent reviews but maybe I just want something better? It sounds great but i don't get excited or feel its good enough. I'm currently looking at the Bose Cinemate 15 or Sony HT-RT5. I recall during xmas i went into a bose store, had a little fiddle with a Bose solo 15 on the shelf and was impressed with the clarity and how it sounded, i know anything in there would've been tinkered to the max to grab your attention. Now the Bose cinemate 15 is an upgrade of it but the Sony RT5 is interesting as its a 5.1 with wireless rear speakers. What i want is clarity, able to pin point sounds and feel like its wizzing around/in front of me, the Bose did exactly this but is a sound bar, the sony I have no idea as I've not heard it yet. I just don't want loud boomy sound with no depth or clarity. Any ideas guys or other suggestions? PS: Whats your go to movie to testing your home cinema setup? Mine is Pacific Rim but I want to try others.
  3. Are we still talking about this? I think i've lost the point of this thread now. IS250 MT vs AT is the topic right? I believe both are good, it seems people here favor AT more than MT. This my own opinion: 1. Tax was cheaper compared to MT 2. It's not a proper performance car as such so i went for AT for relaxed driving and I hated MT when i used to get stuck in traffic in my old job (Never had an AT before, this is the first time) 3. Went for petrol because i do a lot of stop/starts and only do approx 7K annual mileage 4. There is a lot of threads about issues with the diesel, most are due to the driving style but my own circumstance does not warrant a diesel. 5. Because the petrol versions are V6 and they sound awesome, smooth engine, experience from a different V6 car.
  4. I had an fto with a 2 litre v6 engine with manual gearbox, smooth as silk the engine, gears sometimes clunky. Had manual all my life, this is first auto for me and it's such a joy to drive. All down to preference. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  5. Defo carbon spoiler style looks way better than the OEM one imo. But what does it look like fitted is a different story. your white lexus looks awesome, always like the lexus styling. I'm getting itchy hands, wind deflectors to buy soon, thinking of a custom exhaust or induction kit, want a bit of noise. Power I don't care otherwise would've bought something way faster. Wife and 1 month baby needs convincing though ;) Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  6. I think the 220D has been knocked a bit harder than it should however specifically talking is250 vs is220D, it seems the IS250 petrol is the preferred model regarding reliability. Probably due to how people's driving styles (lots of stop starts and not enough time to get the car hot or on long runs). In regards to petrol vs diesel, they both have pros and cons and people who buy a diesel should know exactly what they are getting themselves into/driving style/etc. In this thread, we may have saved the OP from headaches of getting a 220D down the road but this carbon build/DPF issue exists on other cars too so we cant taint the 220D alone. The decision it seems that an petrol is250 SE-L / F sport model with auto seems to be the favored here but thats not to say its the best car here.
  7. Picture speaks a thousand words they say, see attached for the auto mirror feature. Also this is the satellite switch, on a UK car, its ont he bottom right where you adjust the brightness of your dials: The options available from the satellite switch for me are parking assist, auto folding mirrors, afs, speed indicators and tach indicators.
  8. Imo it's for cosmetic and also you can open the window slightly without rain getting in. Useful for smokers when it's pouring (I don't smoke). Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  9. Mine has the auto fold/unfold from the satellite switch. I guess certain cars have this feature. Mines a 2010 is250 f sport. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  10. Hi all, My 2010 IS250 F sport auto locks when I drive approx 16mph, it stays locked until i put the gearknob from D to P. Once i put it into P, the car auto unlocks itself. Regards to the parking sensor beeping, check what jamesm182 advised above. I think the locking/unlocking might be a setting you need to go to the dealer for, have a look at this: http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/IS_LPS.pdf Is your IS250 a manual or auto?
  11. Out of curiosity, these were factory standard from which years/trim? I have a 2010 IS250 F Sport and mine auto folds/unfolds when i lock/unlock the car.
  12. Detailed when i first got the car 3-4months ago, car is still beading from the wax after every wash :)
  13. I was going to get this button programmed, i think the forum have saved me from potentially soaked seats or worst, windows left down as i go to work!
  14. I dont have this sound at all on my is250 f sport 2010. I dont use the auto climate control either as it turns my aircon on (i should read up how it works), i have it off, set the temp i want and speed and thats it. I dont even turn the auto air filter thing on (when it decides to switch from air outside or recirculate).
  15. Is this when the lights turns left/right when steering? I can see mine working but the amount of angle doesn't seem to be significant. Then again i've not really had issues with other cars turning/cornering in the dark
  16. Within the day i would expect? I ask for a courtesy car so I dont need to sit there.
  17. I've had mine for approx 3-4 months and mainly driven on the weekends.
  18. Love the look of the NX, considering one when its time to change but that would be a good number of years away. Enjoy your new toy!
  19. Hi ashyk36, Allow me to help you on this as I was in the exact position as you before i bought my F sport 2010 IS250. 1. The F sport compared to a SEL, you dont get the rear sunblind, air-con seats (you get heated), normal suspension, full leather seats. However the F sport comes with spoiler, multispoke alloy wheels, alcantara seats with leather bolsters, sports suspension, f sport steering wheel, pedals and gearstick. Mine came with the memory steering wheel that retracts away, sat nav and Mark Levinson audio (must have IMO). Both are the same 2.5L V6 engine. 2. I came from sports cars and it all depends on your situation/preference. My last car was a EP3, it was quick, can be driven hard and not a problem, the only problem for me is i dont drive it hard nor drive it daily. This is my first AUTO car and it is so smooth and easy to drive (AUTO is best on the IS250), performance wise its not slow but its not very fast either (0-60 approx 8.4 secs on paper but feels quicker than this). I need a 4/5 door car as i got my first kid on the way so i wanted something sporty yet refined, comfy and some gadgets. If i wanted speed then I would've went for the ISF or anything that can go under 5 secs to 60. 3. City driving I am getting approx 22-24mpg, if there are some motorway then approx 24-27mpg, if mostly motorway then approx 32mpg. When i got the car first time, it was showing 31+ mpg average, i've never hit 30mpg before as I rarely do motorway miles nowadays but these cars are built for motorway cruising. 4. I paid 12.3k for mine, 50k miles, 2 owners, car is immaculate. There are alot of minor changes on the IS250, for me, 2010 was the recent change hence the F sport was made then i think it was the 'advance' models with the newer front bumper (get less equipment though!). So to recap, the IS250 is perfect for me as I didnt want an Audi/BMW/Merc and the wife is happy. Impreza, Evo, MPS, M3, ISF, etc was on the list but were taken off for a number of 'grown up' reasons lol. The best advice would be to go test drive one and make your mind up, the car may be awesome for me but it might not be for you.
  20. Osram Night Breaker are good, used in my last car but it only lasted about 7 months before 1 side burnt out. The extra light is what causes a shorter lifespan. Keep the receipt as proof of purchase as you can call up osram and they will send you a free replacement within 12 months
  21. In my opinion, easy money for the garage, he could of just said "i dont think this will fix your issue but i'll do it anyway since you are paying me to do this". Yes you are right, brakes are not hard to swap but its the time and hassle of doing it yourself, I cant bring myself to spend 2-3 hours in the cold under the car working on it. I could be sat indoors with the heaters on and my feet up. :D
  22. Not surprised the garage said that, he must've had a lot of people say that to him often that "x y z said this is what needs to be changed etc." The correct approach would've been lets find the cause of the problem and work from there rather than get annoyed with how someone else thinks what or how it should be fixed. Most things can be done at home, I only ever go to a garage if i dont have the time to work on the car (i.e. servicing), dont have the tools to do the job (suspension change etc) or not experienced enough (engine build etc).
  23. I would ignore the TRD badge, i think someone just stuck it on and probably has no other 'performance' parts to it. Regards to the steering wheel, i did find it a bit heavier than my civic type r EP3 though both are electric power steering and not the conventional belt driven system. It's not really a problem and you will get use to it. The revs will go about 1.2-1.5krpm on a cold start but depending on the outside temp, it can drop back down to under 1krpm within 5 secs or a little bit longer than this if its really cold (as i found out this weekend). Do the usual checks like HPI, check MOT mileage etc.
  24. I chuckled at this though in my situation, it would be far quicker and easier if i did it myself lol
