  1. Oh, and I agree the Stinger is going to be a bargain in a couple of years time. Another advantage of a streaming service - I have skipped every celebrity segment this season.
  2. Nope, it is a dedicated Amazon service. As far as I am aware, there are 3 ways to access Prime video - from a computer, a built in app on your tv (if available), or with an Amazon Fire stick or Fire TV. See here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01ETRIFOW?ie=UTF8&tag=googhydr-21&hvadid=224385023008&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=817050420235069975&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006629&hvtargid=kwd-93083334562&ref=pd_sl_5a451lrvs7_e @Linas.P is also right that it shouldn't matter if it is on wifi or wired as the bandwidth and latency requirements are relatively low. Although, Linas, Cat7 actually refers to the fact that the twisted pairs are individually shielded for better crosstalk control, rather than the flatness. As for the PC, again, pretty much anything modern will cope easily with the demands. For example, my streaming PC uses the built-in graphics capability of my Intel Pentium G4560 processor to output via HDMI in 4K. In regard to the background viewing behind Clarkson, it is definitely not a coincidence Something for the predominately male audience to look at. You have obviously not been paying attention because not only have they been doing it since the beginning of the Grand Tour, but during the old Top Gear as well, although in that case it was behind Hammond.
  3. Tricky one to diagnose. Can you post a video of it happening? You say it vibrates 'like' the car is struggling? Does it rev cleanly or is it stuttering?
  4. Congrats! I had a CT loaner for 2 days this week, and getting back in mine afterwards made me realise how great these cars are still to drive. Just so you know; It is perfectly fine to grin like an idiot whilst driving yours.
  5. Yep. Since I had taken apart and greased the OS mirror, it was now tilting all the way, so I was able to show them that they were wrong. What's funny is that, even though it was now tilting all the way, they replaced it without me even asking them too. I am guessing that, because I didn't tell them I had taken it apart, they figured the issue was intermittent and would have stopped working properly soon, so best to get it replaced now.
  6. Well, in case anyone is interested in an update, I picked up my car today from the dealer after I got both mirrors replaced using my extended warranty. They told me the official cause was 'lazy motors'. The added bonus is that the replacement comes as a unit including the colour coded housing, so considering mine were stone chipped to hell, it was rather a nice surprise.
  7. I am afraid I agree with Shaun, it sounds like a head gasket to me. Now, I am the first to admit I know very little about the mechanics of the LS, but surely losing that much oil, that quickly, without a leak, means it is burning it at quite a rate? Also, a failed head gasket doesn't necessarily mean loss of coolant or mixing of fluids since the gasket might have only broken around an oil way. Unfortunately, this also means a sniff test won't confirm it either. You could try taking the sparks plugs out and seeing if any of them has more oil/soot on it then the others? I do hope that I am wrong though and it is something quick and simple to fix.
  8. Other than taking it to a dealer (which is an expensive option), I don't know of anyone in particular you could take it to. Whereabouts in London are you? I wouldn't think it is a suspension component since they tend to make clonking and knocking noises rather than a whine. You would also notice the noise more frequently over rough surfaces. Does the sound change frequency if you slow down and speed up? If it is a wheel bearing then they usually change pitch or volume depending on wheel speed.
  9. As for where to get one from, you could always try here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-Is200D-Is220D-Is250C-Is250-Rear-Wheel-Bearing-Hub-Kit-2005-Onwards/400557002460?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item5d430ecedc:g:odMAAOSwN2VZSlMG
  10. IT certainly sounds plausible that the wheel bearing might have had enough. Although, perhaps I am mistaken, but whenever I have had the same issue before, it is more of a clicking sound. Anyway, have you tried rocking the wheel back and forth to check for play in the bearing? If you are handy with a dial gauge, you could check it like so: Also, unless someone can clarify differently, it does look like the hub assembly and bearing are one unit:
  11. As in coolant change, which you said you had done recently? Well, if you want to give it a go, then following the bleeding instruction here:
  12. It means that there is air trapped in the system. After a fluid change, it needs to be bled to get rid of any air that is stuck. I can't imagine this being the problem though?
  13. Hi Chan, I think the thread you mentioned pretty much sums up all the issues you might possibly face. I too have had my alloys refurb'd as they were in a dire state. I have also managed to curb one of my fronts since then. As far as i am aware, none of the issues mentioned in that thread have been resolved for the facelift models. The calipers certainly haven't. Since you plan on having it serviced at Lexus, have you considered putting an extended warranty on it? The IS250 is a well built car, and with that age and mileage I wouldn't expect many problems, but you never know. At £895 for 2 years it is pretty good value for money, especially when you factor in the fact that it includes top level AA cover as well.
  14. Is the Check VSC and engine management light on? Also, will it shift out of 4th if you try manually changing it?
  15. Sounds like someone made a mistake. I am currently paying mine in monthly instalments.
  16. Since when did value = quality? A work colleague bought a £25k new BMW last year and after 6 months of going back and forth to the dealers, BMW agreed to take the car back because they couldn't figure out how to fix the problem. If the IS250 does appear in 'shed of the week' then it is good luck for potential owners who can now pick up a great car for a bargain price.
  17. Well, if you consider that large, then Lexus should definitely have denied my claim! Perhaps the warranty company should have a weight-in before deciding if it is the seats fault or not?
  18. Yes and no. If I had somehow managed to damage the seat, although I am not exactly sure how I would do that, then I agree it wouldn't be good. However, the conclusion was that the spring must have been worn, which would suggest wear and tear. I suppose it depends on your definition of faulty. Are seats eventually meant to fail? They do suffer some abuse from all the getting in and out (especially when you weight as much as I do), and you could argue that all springs will eventually loosen. On the flip side, most people wouldn't consider a car seat a wear and tear item, at least not the frame anyway. So I think it is a bit of a grey area. From what I remember Dav, your car didn't have that many miles on it when the seat failed? You would think your claim should have had a higher chance of success.
  19. Can you lot please stop posting so quickly? My inbox can't take it! But seriously, Dav, as you know they do sometimes cover seat issues, like in my case. Having said that, from the 5 warranty claims I have made, the fact that they agreed to change my seat still staggers me to this day. My car was 9 years old and had over 130k miles on it when the claim went in, so if I was the claims assessor, I wouldn't have agreed to it! What is even more strange is that there was no visible damage to my original one. Perhaps you should have brought your car down to Lexus Reading. As the service guy told me last time, the wording on the claim form makes a big difference on whether it will be accepted or not.
  20. I don't really know since I haven't bothered investigating what is happening. To be honest, my car has reached the stage where it is make all sorts of squeaks and rattles, so it is not really worth trying to chase them all down. After almost 10 years and 135k miles, I would expect it to make some noise. Although, having said that, I do need to put some silicon grease on my door seals as that seems to sort out the most annoying ones.
  21. I sometimes notice a clicking sound coming out of that area. My solution is to simply turn the stereo up.
  22. That is an odd looking brochure you have linked John.
  23. Perhaps you could tell us where you got the items from? Thanks.
  24. The number plate thing is a strange one. From the paperwork that is visible, it seems to have been on DK58NJE at the beginning of 2013, but then on C16RWF at the beginning of 2017. However, the middle invoice says 'car sold Mr T', so it is possible it was on DK58NJE and was then changed to C16RWF when he bought it (considering his name is Crawford it would make sense). If the person who sold it also had it on a private plate, that would explain why it has no MOT history on that plate since it was never have been MOT'd while it was on. Also, even though it looks like it wasn't MOT'd for 2 years between 2014 and 2016, it is actually only 13 months, so it looks like it was late by a month, probably because someone forgot. Perhaps not the best move putting them on the internet, but it seems that Mr Crawford's name, address, telephone number and e-mail address are visible on the invoice, so you could always call or e-mail him to see what the story is (although it seems he has upgraded to a 2011 M5 since). And I do agree that the badges would have to go and the lights returned to standard.
