  1. Looking good there fellow, my 250 is apparently the same colour as yours! But at the moment is underneath a thin film of muck, got to get round to sorting it sometime soon, got a brand new Karcher K4 in the box raring to go but turns out I have fractured my Calcaneus (heel bone) and very painful it is too, can only just walk let alone detail my pride and joy, very envious of your gleamer As above, any products you used and were pleased with/recommend would be helpful. paul m.
  2. So if everything is working as it should now what exactly did you do to achieve this? And is there a switch for the front washers and a seperate switch for the rear washer? I still can't fathom out your set up? paul m.
  3. +1 on getting a 250 auto ( manuals are cheaper to purchase like for like but check out the Car Tax rates, https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-registered-on-or-after-1-march-2001 ) and if you can hold out for an SE-L model with all the toys you won't regret it ( usual caveats, history, owners, paperwork etc) Best of luck and there seems to be a lot of nice ones out there at the moment. paul m.
  4. 'Dopey' good word, in my opinion it's a feel good factor on the sales front, it makes the purchaser believe that they can forget about it 'for ever' but we know when the warranty runs out your on you own. Manufacturers version of ' for Life' is not gonna be 15-20 years and 300,000+miles say. Lexus Service Schedule goes upto 150,000 Miles Then I guess it's repeat from start!, so engine is going to last way longer than gearbox I reckon. But an enthusiastic owner may nurse a car for more than this and I for one will not have much faith in a 20 year old oil in my pride and joy. ( oil technologies progress each year for one) just my thoughts ( other thoughts are available!) Oh..Confession I change the engine oil/filter every 5,000 miles in my households cars also paul m.
  5. Have a read through of this from IS owners over the pond https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/643544-diy-transmission-fluid-change-question-for-is250.html Some of their (US owners) cars clock up Starship Enterprise mileage and there is no way any oil can resist deterioration for 'ever'. 'Sealed for Life' you say, well Lexus interpretation of life and yours might be a bit different. concensus is change it sooner rather than later, paul m.
  6. I have just read through all this thread again. so are you saying now that when you operate the switch for the rear wash/wipe the fluid is coming out of the pipe that is normally connected to the rear jet? if yes then the problem has got to be the rear jet itself! paul m.
  7. So from what you say then the pump does pump out fluid when required to supply the pipe for the rear jet. So either there is a blockage in the rear pipe? ( unusual) or does the level go down in the reservoir like I said? If it does then this means the fluid is going somewhere inside the car and you need an assistant to operate washer while you searchlisten for running water somewhere
  8. I'm not suggesting that this is your problem (yet) but this is the sort of thing that can happen and you need to fault find in a logical sequence. https://www.fiatforum.com/500/456821-split-rear-windscreen-washer-pipe.html wet carpets anywhere inside the car might be a give away especially if you pump runs-fluid level goes down and nothing comes out of screen jet!!! paul m.
  9. Not au fait with your cars controls exactly but usually with cars that have a rear wash wipe then the way it works with only one pump in the reservoir is that one pump has Two pipes coming from it ( one for the front jets and one to the rear jet) When the switch for the front jets to work is operated the pump is supplied with power and the motor inside runs and supplies fluid to one of the pipes which goes to the front jets, when the switch for the rear jet is operated then the power is supplied to the motor with reverse polarity ( the + & - connections on the motor are given - & + instead) when this happens the motor runs in reverse and the wash fluid is pumped out through the 2nd pipe which goes to the rear jets. In this system you cannot wash the front screen & the rear screen at exactly the same time obviously. Like I said not aware of your controls but in the past could you if you wanted to wash BOTH screens at exactly the same time? if not ( and I guess so as most cars have only one pump fitted for cost reasons) then you probably have one pump with two outlets. if yes then you may have only one pipe coming from pump and splitting to the rear (unusual) you say you can hear a pump running ( is this under the bonnet area or at the rear of car) when you operate the switch for the rear wash ( this eliminates the Fuse,Switch,Wiring) so this just leaves the pump and pipe work. Sometimes if anything other than spirit/solvent based screen wash is used ( ie WashingUp Liquid) then the filter inside the tank can get gunged up, but you say the front jets are working! ( through same filter/pump!) so that eliminates the filter. first step is to fill reservoir completely up to the top edge and then operate the rear wash wipe for a few seconds and then see if level as gone down at all. If it has then this means the pump is working and the fluid is actually going somewhere, albeit not out of the rear jet where it should. next ( awkward ) step is to get access to the pump and take off the outlet pipe that supplies the rear jet then operate the pump to see if fluid comes out of pump under pressure ( note when you remove the pipe the fluid may gush out of the pump as it is a centralfugal type pump and this type allows fluid to pass through when static) there may be a non-return valve in the hose/connection area which stops water draining back into the reservoir from the pipe lines to minimise any delay filling the pipe lineswhen jets are required. please come back with your findings on each step above. paul m.
  10. This is the one I have got after reading lots of others refer to and use this software. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16pin-Mini-VCI-Toyota-Lexus-TIS-TechStream-OBD2-Diagnostic-Interface-Scanner/112063076459?epid=714481939&hash=item1a177ad86b:g:Vw0AAOSwqfNXj555 Loaded onto laptop no problem after following instructions to the letter! It is very professional and I intend staying away from any settings I'm not 100% sure of! there is a phone number at the bottom of the listing in the " contact information" so you could give them a call tomorrow for suitability for your car. Having said that I can fire up my laptop later to see if I can see your model/year in the options box, Paul m.
  11. You can't rely on a description of the condition of a second hand car from a dealer full stop. They turn over so many cars that when a 'good' condition one comes along compared to the 'fair' and 'poor' that they have had previously then it gets described as 'immaculate' and unless you stand in front of it and rate it yourself it always gonna be subjective, bit like like 'Awesome', American 'Awesome' means 'good' but English 'Awesome' means a whole lot more! paul m.
  12. I recently got the 'tech stream' software along with a OBD patch cable with a usb connection. The software ( comes on an auto play CD ) gets put on a laptop ( for portability reasons but if you got a pewter in your garage it could go on there) so if you have access to a laptop this might be the way to go. paul m.
  13. I know Steam is a colourless gas and cannot be seen but what you are 'seeing' is steam at the condensing into water vapour stage known as 'Wet Steam'. But to the layman water boils and what you 'see' eminating from the surface is Steam. The real ( invisible) steam in in the area between the surface of the boiling water and the wet steam you can see. paul m.
  14. Sorry to say that a name and mobile no is not really exchanging details in a non-injury collision. Should be full name of drivers involved along with permanent address and contact numbers and insurance companies. if this persons ditches the mobile number then all you seem to have is a registration number and a name? Your insurance company can get details of the car and its insurance status but unless the driver admits to actually being in that location at that time and being involved it ain't gonna progress very far and you are going to be footing the bill as a claim on your fully comp insurance. Any independent witnesses may help but it is gonna be an ordeal to get this finalised. I am fully legal and legit with all 5 cars in my household but as posted above I do not trust any other Herbert on the road until they prove me otherwise. back in 2015 some Herbert went into the back of my Mondeo and split the bumper, his car was trashed pouring coolant and oil all down the road, obviously his fault as he was driving faster than he was able to stop in the distance ahead! I ended up with a photo of his driving license on my phone, along with a letter he had in his car with his address on it and a photo of him and his trashed car and mine at the scene. I think he was in a bit of shock at the time but I have been in this situation before and had a big denial afterwards so was not gonna get caught out again! paul m.
  15. 2 when you operate the switch for the rear wash can you hear a pump running?
  16. Rear washer you say.... 1 does you car have a seperate pump for the rear wash or is there only one pump fitted to the resivour with two pipes coming from it?
  17. Yes it would appear to emit 'smoke' but we know that this is condensate/steam or water vapour and any MOT tester worth his/her ( gotta be one out there) salt will know the difference ( hopefully). paul m.
  18. The Bosch S4 ( 4 yr g/tee) is £101 at EuroCarparts at the moment, how many years G/tee are KwikRip offering, as you say you only 'ordered' it, see if they'll match the G/tee period. Paul m.
  19. Well.... We're sorry, the vehicle you are looking for is no longer available. paul m.
  20. Just don't let anybody crash into you in the same spot! paul m.
  21. NO, crossed wires there, I have tried sending Tango a message. Don't think he has been trying to get in touch with you Nessal! paul m.
  22. 'Tango' tried sending you a PM but got the knock back with 'Tango cannot recieve messages' also the email vario.......@hotmail.co.uk is not valid! Paul M.
