Likewise I'll check what mine is because I'm Pretty sure the battery in my 2007, 37k miles IS is still the original from the factory and back when I got the car in Aug this year I took the battery out and topped up the electrolyte with pure water before leaving it on charge for a while on an intelligent charger because it was turning over a bit sluggish for my liking. All cells needed topping up as they were on or just below minimum so hopefully I have rescued it and it will last a bit longer, one thing I do remember about the battery when I had it out was that it was not a branded aftermarket one and had Japanese writing on it! paul m

Can you please let on what products you used as I haven't actually bought any yet and would rather go on recommendations than ad hype. FYI my paint 'feels' really rough and 'sandy' to the touch so I think I need to get some 'fallout remover' at least along with some clay bar perhaps. Apparently water pumps on the IS are usually good upto about 90-100k so assuming the same sort of materials used and quality control then this does seem rather early!! paul m.

Not au fait with DERV's but a petrol engine will rev high if the IAV is faulty or the thermostat is stuck Open, hopefully a d owner will be along soon to expand, question? If the car/battery has been out in the frosty nights then this will take its toll on a battery that is not in 100% good condition and it is only going to get worst if exposed to more frosty nights.

Has your 250 been back to the dealers for its recalls ( airbag and fuel seal) if not then the niggley dash might be sorted when they do the airbag if you ask nicely!!! paul m.

Diesel powered engines are ideally suited for constant load ( Heavy) constant revs and long run periods ( Hours, Days or Weeks even as in the case of Trains, Ships & Generators for example) Not (and it beggars belief that it is a surprise when it causes problems) in the case of a school run then coffee morning super clean ( as in never been in the mud) 4x4 Chelsea Tractor with Stop/Start!!!! Horses for courses as they say but I feel that the DERV is doomed ( for small short journey vehicles anyway) paul m.

If you feel confident enough would you do it yourself? I definitely would after seeing this great 'How To ' video and it does not require any special tools or intrusion into any other specialist systems ie A/C. Have watched the vid a couple of times looking for any 'troublesome' sections and it looks a pretty straightforward operation if you take your time and double check as you go. if the new pump casing has a ground down area then it is almost certainly an Oem pump with the logo removed! And make sure it comes with a new metal/rubber gasket, some don't.
