  1. Hello everyone, did someone maybe know or put the ISF forged rims (RV737) on the latest GS? I have an F-Sport trim with 9J19" ET60 on the rear axle and the ISF rims are 9J19" ET55. This 5mm are forcing me to think. front axle is identical on ISF and GS I mean this exact wheels: https://allegro.pl/oferta/felgi-19-oryginalne-lexus-is-f-2007-2014-idealne-11178997078 Thanks for any clues.
  2. Loaner car given to me for a day in comparison to my other past cars and Gs 450h mk4. 220 BHP, the naturally aspirated 2.5 Litre 16v Inline 4 petrol engine with electric assistance accelerates this IS 300h to 62 mph in 8.4 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 125 mph I’m now glad I didn’t buy this model given the chance as I find the is 300h as someone who is 6’3 height to be not as snug or spacious as my Gs my left leg hugs the centre console. Originally I was deciding between a Is or Gs and choose the Gs 450h f sport. Also this spec has no mark leverson system and the difference is night and day the mark lev system is a must for audio connoisseurs like myself. It’s the first ever car (I’ve got it on my work truck) I’ve used with active radar cruise control and I loved it wish I had this on my Gs I just have normal cruise control. The is made me feel relaxed knowing the car was keeping its distance by itself wish was nice experience I didn’t test what would happen if there was a stopped car in front on me though. Acceleration is decent but I found in normal mode I was just plodding along tortoise/Sunday driver I had to have it in sport mode the entire time to get any serious sensation of normal spirted speed I’m used to. The infotainment system felt a step backwards bearing in mind my cars 2012. I found the menus bland smaller to read and the physical selector I found i did not like at all it’s similar to the Gs joystick but very very different and I got frustrated the stick was super stiff I did not find it immediately intuitive on how to navigate. On the Gs the stick moves free like a joystick and whatever you need to do you just think and do it where as the is was not so it requires you to twist the circle joystick at various times to go up and down various menus even selecting music left and right was awkward. It seems like they buried the random folder button in a sub menu but if there’s a simpler way to select random play then someone can correct me. The Gs random play option is right infront of you while your in the audio music playing screen which is great and simple! The steering whee controls I also found where not great for me as I have big hands and big fingers on my Gs volume etc have big simple and obvious buttons for their usages and their purposes which I love which I did not find on the is with the tiny wee buttons and several of them on the is 300. Visibility looking out was fine I note the centre mirror seemed extremely Xl large vs any other car ive driven which was good. The thing I hated the most was the pedal physical handbrake near to the brake. Now to be fair I’ve never in fifteen years of driving driven a car with this so alien to me. I struggled to get my head round it and didn’t like even using it. So at red lights I just physically moved the gear stick to park every time instead vs my Gs which uses a no brain work auto electric park break at red lights and when stopping and I don’t have to touch the gear stick at all unless stopped for a few minutes (maybe five minutes?) the car then forces you to put into park physical moving gear stick as a safety feature. The seats where non electric and the side mirrors u have to physically press a button inside the vehicle EVERY TIME to fold them in when you park vs my auto fold in mirrors on my Gs when you lock the car. I do love the look of the car from outside it looks fast and expensively prestigious. I do this review with a pinch of salt as I know this is a base model without all the trimmings of a highly speced model.
  3. Today I installed (hardwired) a dual-channel Viofo A129 Duo into our GS450h Premier (with rear sunblind). This is a guide on how to do it, to save anyone else time figuring out the stuff I had to figure out. For starters, don't disassemble your boot! I used the Viofo 3-wire hardwire kit (to enable parking mode). For this you need 2 add-a-fuse mini-blade fuse doublers. Front Camera The front camera location is best near the centre-line. The GS screen curves, so anywhere off the centreline starts to point outward to the side instead of forwards. I placed the camera just to the left of the Rear view mirror base, as there's some sort of camera sensor on the right-hand side at roof level. Also our car has the AHB camera on the centreline. From there, the two (power supply and rear cam) cables go up into the roof console, mainly to put the ferrite on the power cable somewhere. From there they run across the top of the windscreen, tucked into the headliner, to the A-pillar. The A-pillar is where things get a little interesting - there's no way you can tuck the cable at the A-pillar (and you wouldn't want to tuck across the top of the a-pillar anyway, as that would interfere with deployment of the curtain airbag). It is necessary to remove the A-pillar trim. Pull outwards at the top and it will come loose, but held by a captive clip (designed to prevent the trim becoming a missile when the curtain airbag deploys). You release this with a pair of needle-nose pliers, turning it to fit through the slot. You can just see the black head of the clip in the slot - it's tricky to photograph and tricky to get at. Once you've released that clip and the middle clip (just a push fit one) then you need to pull the trim piece up from the dashboard to remove the trim. Now you can run the wires down the A-pillar, along the sunroof drain tube (if fitted - otherwise that should leave plenty of space for your cables!). In order to do this most neatly, you need to go underneath the wiring connector you find there. Now feed the wires into the gap between the door and the side of the dashboard: This gets us to the passenger footwell, and onto our next section. When you replace the A-pillar trim, make sure you reinstate that top retention clip, otherwise it may interefere with the airbags. Power Supply For a 3-wire kit you need a permanent 12V and a switched 12V. In order that this all be completely reversible (ie not require any soldering, stripping, etc of the cars wiring looms) I used Add-A-Fuse units. I connected into the passenger footwell fusebox on the connections for Night Vision (not equipped, but fuse is present...) (This is our switched 12V) and into the Power passenger seat (permanent 12V). For ground, there's a handy bolt. The easiest way to do all of this is to drop the trim panel in the passenger footwell - I didn't realise how easy that would be at first. Simply pull it out and down. The bolt head exposed nearest the door is your easiest ground connection: And put your add-a-fuses into the locations described. That should cover power supply - note that you can not re-fit the fusebox cover with the add-a-fuses in place. Rear Camera wiring You've already got your rear camera wire down into the front of the passenger footwell. Simply tuck the wire under the plastic trim of the door sill, and continue along, past the B-pillar into the rear footwell and along the rear door sill also. There's a tight spot alongside the front seat, but you can hide the cable away entirely throughout this section. Continue along and tuck the cable up the side of the rear seat At the top, tuck the cable along the side of the parcelshelf, until you get to the rear blind. I was afraid that the rear blind was going to be very difficult and mean I'd have to go down into the boot and come back up (and I removed the boot trims to discover that this is pretty much impossible). However, it's actually trivial! Raise the blind, THEN feed the cable through, and tuck the cable down. The side track that the blind runs in doesn't continue much below the level of the parcel shelf and there's actually plenty of room to tuck the cable in! You can then put the blind down, partially to check that it isn't impeded but also to finish the job. Place your rear camera and tuck the wire around the edge as normal. Note that you can't place the rear camera high up because the blind will hit it when raised. I placed our rear camera just to the side of the Chimsel (That's a word! Honest! Comes from CHMSL - Centre High Mounted Stop Light). Writing all of this made it seem much easier than it felt like! Replace the removed bits of trim, and all should be good. Please note that this is for information and entertainment purposes only. If you blow up an airbag or fry your car's electrics when doing this, it is YOUR fault.
  4. Hello, Can you tell me what are your mpgs like, I'm mainly interested in city driving so I don't know if the gs 300 is the right car for me. Thank you in advance
  5. While my car was serviced the salesman I have bought my last 2 cars came for a chat. Apparently the GS is no longer being imported and the last two cars into the Cheltenham dealer will arrive imminently. The thought is that the new ES will replace it. The first UX will arrive Spring 2019.
  6. Rather than keep updating my New Members thread I figured a build thread would be a more appropriate place to keep track of my changes. Especially as Robb/Mod's went to the trouble of opening up this new section for us. January 24th'17 - GS 450H purchased This is my first Lexus, my first hybrid and it's such a joy to drive with plenty of power and it's very slick CVT gearbox. For a big car it goes/stops and handles surprisingly well. The rear boot space was the only concern but with just me and mrsF it's worked out just fine and 6 months down the line we've made a couple of trips over to Belgium without any issues. So lets have a brief recap of the initial 6 months of ownership. The car came with a spare key but it wasn't working, thankfully a new CR 1632 brought it back to life #phew January 31st - Lexus Full+100 service @Lincoln, including a Hybrid health check - was successful and warrantied for another 12 months The Lexus health check listed these items... both front tyre valves leaking - the OSF definitely is, around the base of the TPMS sensor. I can't see any leaks on the NSF rear brake pipe corroded - all I can see is a small rub on each side, looks like the inner arch has rubbed the pipes slightly front shocks leaking from body - all four dampers are bone dry tho! - I look forward to hearing what Lexus have to say about this exhaust blowing at 'Y' section - agreed, discussing this with the dealer that sold the vehicle exhaust also has a slight leak from the mid section - I couldn't get underneath sufficiently today to check this Not the best of starts but I was prepared for some work to get an older car 'straight'. February 7th new wiper blades Feb 11th, lowered bonnet bump stops that were preventing the bonnet from closing without a really good slam. Updated the OEM satnag, using http://www.latestsatnav.co.uk/ - now the local roads appear. This supplier has the UK/Belgium/etc countries all on a single disk unlike other providers or OEM (over several disks) I needed to disconnect the 12v battery to get the replacement DVD to load. Feb 14th, Dashcam fitted, a Thinkware F770 dual channel that I'd been using in my previous steed. Hardwired into the AUX circuit via a piggy back fuse on the drivers fuse board. Earthed to the forward fuse board bolt. As the fuse board is well recessed, I've left the cover off for the moment but I may cut a slot in later and then refit the cover. Routing the cable was quite easy and only needed the drivers side end of the dash un-clipping. The cable was then tucked in the drivers A pillar and roof lining, up and over to the camera. Excess cable was looped up, cabled tied and tucked under the carpet well out of the way. As the rear sun shade doesn't run parallel to the rear screen (it starts further forward in front of the 3rd brake light) I managed to fit the camera just above the 3rd brake light, higher would have given a better image but that would have interfered with the sun shade. The rear camera cable was run around the parcel shelf, up and over the rear door but I couldn't get a neat run around the top of the b-pillar. So I dipped the cable halfway down the passenger b-pillar, popped off the lower section to loop up the excess cable (out of the way of the seat belt). The cable then went up and over the passenger door and around the top of the screen to the camera. All neat and tidy (ignore the mirror that was just pushed out of the way to show the camera install). Test views, front rear Feb 15th, gave the headlights a quick polish to see how they'd come up. Quite pleased how they came our after just a few mins work. Cargo net fitted, under the parcel shelf so I still have easy access to the boot (like this sample pic) Feb 17th, the car has been up on the ramps today with my trusted local mechanic who gave it the once over with me. All of the shocks are bone dry with no signs of any leaks or misting ANYWHERE. So for now I'm going to ignore the Lexus recommendation LOL The exhaust is definitely blowing at the rear Y (see earlier pic). We also saw that the OSR box has a few issues... Pretty obvious huh. Neither Lexus nor the last MOT flagged it. It can't just have appeared in the last 3 weeks since I've owned it. I despair. The rear section is beyond repair so I bunged my indi some beer money for using him ramps. Looks like I'll be getting a new rear section made up in the not to distant future Feb 19th, new mats fitted, this Luxury version fits a treat http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252033676404 Gave her a good scrub Including the engine bay, no treatment applied yet Turns out the passenger footwell has only been blowing cold, giving mrsF cold feet and making her unhappy. Before you ask...yes, we tried all options of Dual/modes/temps/etc. So after surfing for solutions I dived in to check the servos; Drastic eh. I eventually tracked down the passenger temp control (passenger side) but with the fixing screws out, I couldn't get the servo out :( With fading light I decided to button it all back up and went for a quick test drive. What'd'ya know, the passenger footwell is now working! The only difference is that I taped up the ducting, both sides, to get a good seal from the heater core. Result. The sceptic in me reckons it can't be that easy and that I'll be back under the dash before too long. Which is just as well as I have a few screws left over Never finish up a job in the dark! I didn't get anywhere with the heater on Saturday afternoon, so buttoned it all back up and thought the mode control was roughly working. Nah, on a 5am commute the other morning clear screen setting kicked in (I didn't test that earlier) and the heater did zip all except vent to the rear seats! For the entire 4hr round trip At lunchtime I went back to basics and figured out what lever on the heater does what. I also removed the 2 servo's/mounting plate and let them do their thing. Once I had a grasp of ALL the settings (temp, modes) I set all levers in roughly the right setting, lined the mounting plate to the heater arms (no easy feat), restarted the vehicle and the first test failed I have noticed that when you turn off the ignition, the servo's sit for a while and then revert to some standby setting. I think this has been throwing me off so I removed the servo plate, set all levers in roughly the right setting again, fired up the ignition and let the servo plate settle. With the ignition still ON, I aligned the mounting plate to the arms for the umpteenth time and gingerly pressed a different mode button... The first test worked and the servo's didn't bind. So I tried another mode setting and that worked. Trying not to freak out, I carefully went through all the possible combinations and to my delight they all work The passenger side footwell output is still hopeless tho I think I may know which control needs a slight tweak but then it may just be the way the airflows. So rather than dismantle it all again I reckon I'll buy the mrs a heated blanket/mat or fan to keep her feet warm. To help align the 7? heater control arms to the servo plate I found one of these cheap endoscope camera's quite helpful to help see around corners http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122076843254 Oh and this time there are NO spare fixings left over March 9th Yesterday I had the...pleasure? of exploring Leeds city center whilst my car was left at Tony Banks for a new exhaust. To recap the rear section had the usual split and a gaping hole in the OS muffler, so we definitely needed a new rear section. I knew the middle section had a slight blow and when Tony removed the rear...the middle section decided to snap in two! He spent around 6 hours (elapsed) crafting both sections from stainless. The cost of a new center section (with cats) was so tempting that I was already half tempted to get the whole lot done and then I'd never need consider the exhaust again. I didn't want any fancy or annoying noise so chose a standard set-up and driving around town you'd struggle to tell this system from OEM. Under hard acceleration or at dual carriageway/motorway speeds there is a slight increase in noise, which is no bad thing at OEM is really quiet. The system should quieten down a notch once it's coked up a bit. I didn't get back to the work shop before the car came off the ramps so I haven't had a close look at the system but from what I can see it looks dandy. The chaps were helpful and have plenty of varied work coming through the workshop, including a steady number of Lexus. Overall I'm impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend http://www.tonybanks.co.uk March 17th OSR tyre flat - punctured, replaced with an Avon ZZ5, managed saved the TPMS and fitted a new valve. OSF leaking needed which on investigation then a new TPMS sensor. April 2nd, cleaned/lubed rear calipers. OSR stone guard is badly corroded April 21st, paint correction/protection; July 6th, fitted 3M tape and a roof rack before the heavens opened. It'll allow me to get back on the bike and hit some nice trails, once I source a carrier. Found a great heavy duty bag to store the rack, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263068408736 If you want any more details about anything above, then check out my opening thread;
  7. I have some proper genuine Lexus mats in excellent, very clean condition in light brown/beige that were fitted my 2008 GS450H. These were replaced by Lexus as a condition of sale as beige doesn't match the interior of my car - I got black instead. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm sure they will fit any other GS from 2005 to 2011. I would like to swap for some similarly clean and tidy Lexus mats for a GS, but in light grey (my interior is Sussex Grey). Thanks!
  8. Evening, I've got a 2012 GS450h F-Sport and I have to pull the boot lid pretty hard to close it, should it have a soft close boot like my 2008 GS450h did?
  9. Well I've recently got my F sport back. Had its first MOT today at 28,500 miles. Over the past few days I noticed my dealer in Cheltenham had a 2015 GS300H Luxury for sale with 11,000 miles. To cut a long story short drove it this morning and did a deal on it. . was pleasantly surprised to find that although not advertised it had the Mark Levinson sound option. Hopefully picking it up Friday. Must say the ride and seats are much softer than my IS which is my main reason for changing now and not in a few months time. I have been getting backache for a while and am hoping the softer seats and ride will help.
  10. I'm sure you get similar questions every week, but I couldn't find it using the search. So thanks in advance if you can provide any advice or links. I'm considering a Lexus GS 300, with 31,400 km, and Full Service History. First registration on 09/2005, so about 11.5years ago. That averages 2700km/year, and I wonder how long has it been sitting idle. I plan to use the car as a daily driver. So if I could benefit from your collective experience... First: The car has very low mileage. I'm concered about all the car suffering from low usage issues at 11.5 years old. As they describe here. In principle it has full service at Lexus, so I wonder how much of this is prevented. Anyone in similar scenario of buying a hardly used GS or maybe other Lexus? How much should I budget for repairs on an ongoing basis? Second: what do you think of the price? (18900 EUR, £16300 at today's exchange) I have no experience, and there are few GSs available around. And, frankly, I'm more concerned about the low mileage issues. Third, any specific areas of concern? (other than the caramel color) Thanks all for your thoughts. I'm sure there is a lot of information already on the forum, so please feel free to just post links to it. Have a good day!
  11. I was at Lexus Cheltenham today getting my car serviced. They have a number of brand new cars in stock with around £2,500 off list price including some IS. They have a fully loaded IS F Sport in the showroom in pearlescent white. If anyone is looking for a new car for delivery before April it might be worth giving them a ring.
  12. Hi Everyone, I've just signed up as I'm on the hunt for a GS. Hopefully you knowledgeable lot can steer me to make the right choice ;) I've a hankering for a comfortable V6 that's reliable. I'm still trawling the tinterweb, absorbing model info, specs and seeing what cars are available. I've yet to compare boot sizes between the 300 and 450H but don't think the smaller boot will be a stumbling block. The hybrid power and economy is very tempting. I'll be checking insurance quotes tomorrow, so wish me luck! As I occasionally travel with bikes I wondered if anyone has fitted a towbar? Or maybe roof racks the norm? Spec isn't a big concern as they come with plenty of toys anyway. I've seen a few 08 models around with Dealers don't appear to have many older cars listed, is this normal? Surely they get trade in's as folks upgrade, so where do the cars go? I've just read thru a few vehicle MOT histories and shocks appear to be a common fault. Pricey too by the look of it. I wondered if lots of faults over the years might be a better long term option, as parts had been replaced? Or maybe they haven't been cared for as much and faults only crop up come MOT time? Any thoughts? If you know any decent cars for sale in the Midlands, then let me know.
  13. At last The Lexus Portal reports an update for the navigation on my GS450h Premier Gen4 (2012)! It now gives 02-16-50 as the latest version for my EMVN (11HDD) model navigation. I still have the original 2012 version (12-02-00 (2011-11-0) installed but the up to date version when I bought the car was 2015-05-1 which indicates they seem to have changed the version naming format. Establishing what the latest update is seems difficult and inclines me to wonder if the information one receives is always accurate. The garage where I bought the car claimed that they could supply me a updated data from early 2016 but the Lexus Portal has remained with the 2015-05-01 until very recently. I contacted Lexus tech staff through the Portal but they just referred me back to the garage. One wonders if the tech staff don't know who does. I'm tempted to get this latest update since I have a deal with the garage to get it at half price because of a misunderstanding when I bought the car but £80 is still quite a chunk of cash for a piece of software which will soon be out of date on fairly clunky bit of kit (although the GS screen is great and I like the voice guidance). Google Maps on my mobile seems brilliant - I can even tell it verbally to provide the route to somewhere and it does it quite well. I also understand that Sygic is good for Android at about £17.50 - £29 depending if one wants only European maps or World coverage and either the standard system or the one with Traffic information (The maps can be downloaded and don't need an internet connection - I think the latter is only needed for Traffic). So how can I get my mobile screen displayed on the car's screen and controlled by the car's remote touch/steering wheel? Viastech provided a system for the Gen 3 GS and I've picked up rumours about BeatSonic, MirrorLink and Grom but don't know anything about them. Has anyone experience or advice on how to do this and how well it works? I like the Lexus screen and I don't really want to have to clamp the phone to the car and have charging wires draping all over my lovey interior.
  14. This sounds interesting for the next GS: http://youwheel.com/home/2016/07/21/2019-lexus-gs-will-get-twin-turbo-v6/ I wonder if the V6 Turbo will replace the V8 in the GS-F?
  15. Hello everybody! I am driving GS300H for about a month and i am very satisfied with it. This is not a real issue but i think it is interesting. I had many cars before this and all of them were much louder after cold start. Warmed up engines were always quieter. Now it is different. When I'm driving using power from cold ICE, car is extremely smooth. It feels like as smooth as 6 or maybe 8 cylinder engine. There are 100% no vibrations and only barely noticable engine whistle. Maybe You laugh but comparing to my previous turbo I4 it feels so nice. But... When ICE warms up, it's more like ordinary 4 cylinder, especially at low revs. It is not bad, but when ICE is cold, it is much nicer. Did You realized it too?
  16. As I was driving I had my satnav on and my Hi Fi up load. Each time the satnav gave directions I could not hear it over the music,I could not belive the music didnt automatically lower so that I could hear directions over the music like my Jaguar XF used to do. Does anyone know If this is an option to switch on that I may have missed.

  18. Hi to everyone , I have a Lexus Gs 450h from 2006 and recently i changed my alloys and i tried to swap the TPMS on new alloys but one of them it was really bad corroded and it snapped so i had to source another one so i have searched everywhere to find a cheaper alternative than Lexus dealers and also to match with our European frequency 433 MHz and i have found a company called RL automotive here in UK , very friendly and helpful which sell the sensors for £58.20 each including VAT and delivery which i think is pretty decent. Here is the email between me and the sales person from there : Good morning, We have two sensors that are compatible with the GS but depending on what frequency; TCD 1204 433Mhz £44.75 TCD 7002 315Mhz £39.00 I imagine that if the car is from the UK it would work on 433Mhz but it would be best to make sure. All prices are plus VAT and £5.00 delivery inside the UK, please provide full address details for international shipping quote. Many thanks, Wez Burns Sales Administrator Park 34 Southmead Industrial Estate Didcot Oxfordshire OX11 7WB Tel: 01235 818 777 Fax: 0870 850 8824 www.rlauto.com www.tpmscentral.com After i received the sensor i just got it fitted on the new alloy and with the mini VCI and Toyota techstream i have registered in the tpms ecu and everything was fine , no more tpms light on dash. I have no intention to post this as an advert . It is your choice if you want to ever buy the tpms from there or not . I have just tried to help others spend less money rather than pay too much at the dealers + tpms registration .
  19. I'm looking at getting a new K&N air intake filter on my GS450h and was wondering if it was worth it? I've found one on eBay for about £35. Will it actually improve the airflow and fuel economy or is it was waste of time/money? What are your views on it?

  21. Does anyone know where to start looking for a new transmission for a GS430? Or a recommended reconditioning service? The car has done nearly 150,000 miles and had water in the gearbox - now it is juddering and struggling to get into the right gear. Thanks! Anyone???
  22. Just bought a UK 2006 GS300 in Mesa Red this week and looking forward to a few years of comfortable, stylish driving and the LOC seemed like a good first stop :-) I assume the Sat Nav disc is still the original and was wondering how much it costs to upgrade to the latest version. Is it best to get in touch with a Lexus dealer or will they charge an arm and a leg? Can independent dealers do it as well? Also do the new discs upgrade the firmware or just the maps themselves. Thanks for any help in advance Karl
  23. Hello, I recently purchased a 2001 model GS300 with twin turbos. I am having some problems with the car. 1. The paddle shift is not working, there is no response when I press either the up shift or downshift. What could be the cause of this? Could it be a fuse etc? 2. Is it possible to connect the twin turbos in sequential mode? If so can someone tell me how this can be done. Thank you!
