If you like the car and it's ok underneath etc I would get rid of the air altogether. A member living in Brighton did it to his RX a few years ago and all was well, I know because I went to see it!

I’ve done a little more investigation this evening. (with the car stationary in park) I found the engine vibrates / feels rough between 1200 and 1400 rpm. Above and below this and it runs smooth. There’s nothing obvious out of place under the bonnet.

Not that I can recall but it’s probably me not remembering because Lexus Ipswich, for the 12 years that I’ve dealt with them, have generally been very good.

Need some understanding how it all works before I replace the main unit (motor/ECU assembly). The main unit ECU is obviously the brain. Then there are the lock/latch unit and the two side sensors (POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSY, Left and right in the diagram). What type of sensor is that? No visible moving parts! I measure 980 Ohm over the terminals on each of them (no polarity) but I haven't found out a way to close the "switch". Magnetic? Position? Proximity? Are there other input (i.e. Switches/sensors in the lock/latch assembly) to the ECU that I can simulate to force operation? Want to exclude all other possible faults before the "heavy" replacement. Can I measure/do anything on the 26p connector to isolate the problem? The motor/ECU assy looks like new, no corrosion, no nothing, even the PCB looks new. Any input is deeply appreciated. Hi. I did have an email swap with some UK chap selling comma 3 and he even offered to 'try it's on my car if I drove to him. "I had my Octavia retrofitted with Lane assist only to find out I didn’t need to as I could’ve reprogrammed my car! Good luck with your car. For me, the Comma 3 has been the best thing for long journeys making the drives less tiring." Interesting because that's suggests it didn't use LKA. But since the Comma (from the videos I've seen) plugs into the forward facing camera for power etc it difficult to say for sure it isn't using some aspect offered by the car, besides the steering you have pointed out already. Yes I'll DM you my Vin. I'd be interested what you have. I had a front radar never fitted but nothing else.

Just checked with my current insurers. They refused to quote for the 7 months remaining on the current policy and quoted £1200 for a new policy to change to an RX4 so advised me to shop around (which I'd already done for the £640 quote) then cancel current insurance.

Yes, this is how it used to be for the 2024 MY but seems things have changed for the 2025MY and the configurator and "current brochure" don't seem to be in agreement at the moment! I don't think the brochure has been updated yet.

It really depends on what is causing the deterioration. Most cars have a clearcoat that peels or flakes off, or can separate from the paint layer giving a milky appearance. These issues can be fixed by careful sanding of the clearcoat and the application of new clearcoat, but as stated this is a lot of work and will cost lots, even if it is cheaper than a full respray. I guess it really depends on how much you want to spend and how badly the current condition makes you feel. Personally I am happy to drive around in a scabby looking car so long as it runs well and is comfy. Others get upset over the slightest blemish. Vive la difference!!

On the ML not sounding great. This could be because the new lbx is more compact. I have heard that the more space in the car the better it sounds which is why previously also it sounded much better in the Rx and NX vs the IS for example. One more thing you could try is to tune it to your liking e.g increase the base / trebel etc. I managed to tune my poverty spec 6 speaker system in my old IS to an acceptable level. Had to turn the bass all the way up but now it sounds acceptable over Bluetooth. Also android auto dropping out etc could be software issues. Sometimes unpairing and re-pairing your phone can fix it else the dealer may be able to update your infotainment with the latest firmware in a future service. I could be wrong but generally speaking from various threads on the forum it sounds like newer cars arent built to the same standards that lexus had about 10 years or so ago.

Mine seems to be playing ball now. Haven't yet fitted the new caliper, but I'm not getting hot brake discs any longer on the rear, think the new discs/pads must have been bedding it a bit or the calliper has freed up slightly as i gave it a good clean and grease on the part of the piston I could when I changed the discs. Since changing the rear discs my MPG on my route to work has gone from Av 18/19 to 24 average. I'll get round to changing the caliper soon as I have new rear brake lines to fit, so may as well do them both at the same time. Currently in the midst of a kitchen renovation at home, so any work on the car has taken a step back at the moment 😄 saying that thought, the Lexus is the first car i've had since my Celica where I'm not having to constantly change parts, it just works even with the mileage its got.
