I have just had my LS 400 serviced by an indy called Lex-Tec, based near junction 31 of the M1, I also had the spark plugs changed ( I supplied these) and on inspection, the brake pads were well worn so I had those changed all round at the same time. Dave is a very nice chap and very, very knowledgeable, with 20 years Lexus experience. He is also happy to work on hybrids. My car is now running sweeter and smoother and has lost the hesitation it had on setting off.   He also seems to be pretty reasonable, cost wise. He can be found on Facebook , but his contact number is 07956233463. I have absolutely no connection with Dave or Lex-Tec, but it was refreshing to  have the Lexus worked on by someone who clearly cares and really knows what he is doing, without needing a mortgage broker. I was offered a coffee and sat in a waiting area with my laptop, as wifi was  available. The only difference between this and a main dealer was the little biscati in wrappers provided by main dealers, which makes them very expensive biscuts. even more so than tho ones flogged by Prince Charles. In my view, having a good indy I can trust is priceless, and may even make the difference between my keeping the car and moving on to something else.

Having just experienced an attempted rip off by a main dealer (not Lexus/Toyota), I couldn't agree more.....a good, trustworthy indy, deserves support.

It's only commercial advertising if it is placed by the company concerned, like the tyre company that sneaked in an advert posing as a customer providing a recommendation . Genuine recommendations should be encouraged, it helps good indys, and it helps us owners by spreading the word and, hopefully, ensuring the indy is still there when we need them next

maybe we should have a sticky - recommended indy garages

It could be entitled "Independent Lexus Specialists across the UK" AND CONTAIN THE EXPERIENCES of Individual Members.

It will soon become apparent which  Specialists are the ones to be supported and which are the ones to avoid. A truthful description of the service one receives cannot be libelous.

In fact, if Members are requested to report only those experiences which represent good service/value, then the question of libel does not arise.

MB Club UK has one such section.

Sounds good to me, we already recommend good garages so can't see why we couldn't put them all together.

Nice one Hugh, I'm at junction 28 so close enough to drive there as my age increases and the prospect of DIY diminishes.

Don't let that put you off. It's a spotlessly clean, well equipped workshop with a decent waiting area, wifi, a warm welcome and a nice cup of coffee. You don't pay through the nose for acres of glossy white tiles and glass, but the expertise and attention to detail are equal if not better
