High Mileage ISF

Recommended Posts

New user here! Looking at getting my first V8 and the ISF is top of my list.

I'm swaying towards a higher mileage car so I can actually use it and not worry about putting too many miles on it, especially with the reliability reputation.

Is there anything in particular I should look out for when looking at 100k+ mile cars? Other than the usual non model specific stuff.

Is there a big service at 100k and how much is this normally?

Thanks

@Managh Hi Thomas welcome to the forum, as your first V8 can’t think of a better choice, if you look at the recent threads member who goes by @IIVORC post a good informative thread exactly covering what you ask as regards the 100k service.

Buying one with that mileage is always on condition and if you can get one with full Lexus service history as well that’s a great start, there is one in autotrader now that’s still under warranty.

Remeber there are only around 200 of them left now to be prepared to travel and be patient, good luck with your search 👍

Best advice I can give you is to get one with under 100k and less than 10 years old. That way (I believe) you can stick a Lexus extended warranty on it.

These cars are generally bullet proof BUT when things go wrong... £££

I'd be looking at

1. Water pump

2. Steering rack (see here)

3. Airbag recall work done

I'm sure others will add to the list

Thanks for that!

If it's the silver one on auto trader with 86k on it then that's one that has caught my eye.

Like you say, your kind of limited due to how few there are for sale.

With the extended warranty, does the car need to have full Lexus history to qualify for it?

Thanks

Definitely go for a car with warranty (which is transferable) or a 2009 as some of the 2008 cars have missed the boat. I'll add to the list the brake master cylinder/servo (£1800) although this is very rare. As mentioned early in the thread, they're great reliable cars but if something goes wrong the parts are rare and the bill will be big. I opted for peace of mind. Good luck with the search.

That's a good question to which I am not 100% sure. However, I know of one IS-F on a 59 plate that didn't have FLSH, but was still warrantied.

I got the Lexus extended warranty on my first IS250 and it had the previous two services from an independent Jaguar specialist.  First four services were all Lexus and it was completely up to date on time and mileage.  Lexus Cardiff had the vehicle in for an inspection when I asked for the warranty and they granted it.  I subsequently made more claims than the premium cost.  My current RX has full Lexus SH but I still have the warranty for peace of mind.

sorry newbie too (first post, but have been lurking)

I believe that one has already had a deposit taken on it as I too was interested, what I couldn't understand though is the it said it had full service history, 8 stamps, shouldn't it have had more than the at 84k?

anyway, I took delivery of my new ISF yesterday and as stated above you need to be prepared to travel, however the 3 hour drive back was sooooo good!!

cheers Paul, its a standard looking black one, I'm sure you have seen plenty, it does have a Hayward & Scott exhaust and Bilstein suspension though, I think it was from a member on here?

its booked in this weekend for a wheel refurb (minor curbing), then the following weekend to have the callipers re-painted, then I will post some pics

Congrats on the purchase!

Recently spotted this on the US forums, From what i can gather its a 330k+ miles ISF still going strong, aside from the routine consumables and known issues being addressed it sounds like its all orginal, amazing build quality!:-

@Managh I’m the other voice on your shoulder, my F has never been to Lexus for servicing as the cost exceeds the expectation 😂.....although mine did have full lex history prior to my ownership, the air bag recall was done by Lex and they did a “full health check”.....no issues whatsoever, my Indy always use genuine parts and are around half the price, it’s knowing and trusting that matters to me, they are great cars and getting “the feel” for being genuine goes a long way in your search if a private sale is in sight......mine has had no warranty on it for the last 3years and cost me nothing other than servicing costs. Always a good debate/banter amongst us here......for “me” a good Indy history is better than a Lex one.....good luck in your quest, as for issues I’ve had none with my 58 plate one.

Don’t think 100k is anything to particularly worry about, this one s still going strong 👍🏻

RE: Warranty, you can still add a 2 year extended warranty to an ISF for £795 up until it is 9 years and 364 days old, I have just done it on my ISF when it was 9 years and 340 days old! It had full main dealer history which I believe is a pre-requisite, or at least the last service was checked.
