Let me know how you go with sourcing new rubber. I've got the same issue and can't find anything. I also don't want to remove it and refit it because it seems its held on with rivets and I won't be able to put it back in place.

On the back burner at the moment as original search didn't show much promise. I haven't even looked back inside the door since the bodyshop mentioned it. I couldn't even find it on the parts diagrams I have, might have to be a custom jobby from something similar...

I've just had the windscreen removed and refitted. It should hopefully fix a small water leak I had which was causing the A-pillar trim to get wet, and general dampness in the car. I asked the guys to let me know when the roof gutter rails were removed if there were any broken clips, and it turned out there were loads, and quite a few missing completely. When they finished they said they had spares so they replaced them all. Result!

The windscreen adhesive primer had deteriorated and they could see loads of places where water was getting in - but also said it's not done too bad as they are currently refitting loads of screens on cars that are less than 3 years old.

I had to agree to have the whole screen replaced if it got damaged during the work because they couldn't guarantee it (£624), however they managed to refit it without breaking it so it was only £216. So I still have a genuine Lexus screen. The only non-original part is the rubber seal at the top of the screen, but it looks like factory to me.

I used Express Windscreens and I'm very happy with the service.

very very fiddly gently, very slightly topping up to the Cold Marker Level on the PAS reservoir on my 91 Ls400  .....  it seemed only very slightly low when peering into the reservoir ...  BUT it's removed the faint occasional " catching " noise at the steering ........ no signs of any leaks anywhere, maybe just evaporation syndrome over the time since last checked, whenever that might have been !

Now on 99500 miles  ...  wot a delight she is to drive ....  as of course is my 95 Ls400 on nigh 250k miles now  😇

"catching noise". You might want to try it with a couple of spoons of 3 Noughts. Always worked for me.😄

A noteworthy achievement, Malcolm.  What are your plans for commemorating the magical mileage moment of attaining the 100K mark??

Unfortunately, I see I have a prior engagement, but will be with you both in spirit.

Celebratory at 100k miles …….. I’ll just make sure I’m still around to use them each,  every other day, coz I just KNOW that’s what keeps them in fine fettle ……. oh, and a bottle of Aldi Prosecco too on the day …… maybe a month hence 😄

My Mk1 LS400 has been sat on SORN since late last year. Got around to taking it to the garage yesterday, a pre-MoT check shows that it just needs a brake pipe and registration plate to get through so they're doing that later this week. It still drove as nicely as ever, reminding me why I want to persevere with it for as long as possible.

Hi finally fitted new super lightweight alloys and new tyres. Rims are from bola B2R. Tyres are Continental all season. Got stunning deal on tyres about £60 each delivered 🙂. Wheels £600 delivered from factory. No clearance issues at all. Feels quicker off the line. According to Bola wheels web page saving minimum of 6kg per wheel which equates to a weight saving on sprung mass of approx 96kg in total. Suspension is now hard race adjustable top control arms with solid bushes, along with BC coilovers set 3/4" higher to allow for craters in our local "roads". Ride is very similar to my air suspension that was faulty. Off to Edinburgh on Wednesday for replacement radiator under warranty and get new hand brake shoes fitted. As shoes appear to have no friction material left 🤔. Will explain why parking brake has no feel or resistance.

Hi Malc, the 01-03 have the orange indicator lenses. The 04-06 have clear lenses and orange bulbs:thumbup:

Hi took me 8 hours to drive from Wick to Edinburgh. Sat nav says 5 hours. Don't what was worse the weather, standing water or driving standards. Next task is MOT by 24th of June. Have one issue ASL? light is flashing constantly. My copy of techstream needs another code to get it to work 🙄. Might see what lexus would  charge me 🤣🤣🤣. Does anyone know if this light is an automatic fail for MOT.

On plus side my LS430 has done Wick to Edinburgh (approx 230 miles) on 1/2 tank of Tesco's 99 momentum petrol.

I always use the E5 and Tesco is the most convenient and best value around ( 150.9p yesterday filled up ) for me right now  ........  460 miles per tank seems fine tbh

Hi when I went to pick up my Lexus had a chat with service lady. Showed me 4 pins in brake shoes that where corroded to point of breaking. Confirmed I had no friction material on handbrake shoes 🤔. She also mentioned that people are contacting them about buying old LS models cost no object. Does this mean die hard lexus car buyers realise how good the old LS models where. Had chat with tech who repaired my car to discuss what he found. Broken rear ride leveller which I knew about. Also one of rear ride sensors not plugged in 🫣, explains ASL? light flashing🙄. My error so will sort that out. Leaking thermostat housing and top hose at ends. He asked if it was genuine milage at 325k. Valet did a magnificent job of car. Not that it was in bad state. Look at it the sunshine and think what a beautiful car. Have been out to check wheel nut torque as lesson learned from last time. Wheel nuts should be tighten after 20mins drive or 30 miles. Yes they needed to be tightened. Hopefully 🤞 won't need to check on way back.

Malc 1 cannot get E5 or super unleaded where I live ☹️. Found a filling station in Thurso who's petrol seems to make car run better. 40 mile round trip for petrol, as we know short trips kill engines. 40 miles gets everything nice and warm.
