Sat Nav Screen Probs

Guys....

My Sat Nav display is like the Weather.... its constantly changing colour when its opening and closing... have you any ideas of what the problem is and how this could be fixed...

To the dealer....... I think a few people have had similar problems. How old is the car?

I had/have the very same problem. Apparently it is caused by the mech cracking the wiring. I had my screen replaced last July under warrenty.

However in the last few weeks it has started to happen again. Got a service coming up so going to raise it then, hopefully they will fix it again.

Hitting tilt a few times usually fixes it. (for a while).

its a 99 T so unfortunatley its out the warranty...thats why I need some ideas...

Try searching the site - I seem to recall this was a discussion lat year - it is the cabling to the screen breaking up - someone decribed a fix I think ...

Mines doing this but only the blue disappers. I've taken the screen out and it looks like one of the wires has been repaired in the past. Gave it a wiggle and guess what, it came back!

Not had time to fix it properly yet but I will have to look into it more me thinks

I wonder if a Mr steve audio X is reading this?????

Reading this.

The problem is usually in the ribbon which connects from the PCB board to the monitor itself.

We have various ribbons of this type.

If only I spotted this post earlier, as I have just sent up a OEM Nav monitor, could of matched our ribbon with that one.

If you are only losing the blue colour at least you know it's only 1 bad link, although this could spread along the ribbon to the others.

I could possibly offer a repair if you were to get the ribbon over to me, or if I fund one the same just replace it.

Had the same problem, there is an updated bracket out for it, which cures the problem.

despite being out of warrenty, have a word with lex UK. as it's a known problem, they mikght be able to bend a little!

I think my lex dealer may get his ear bent when mine goes in for service.

Must book that soon seeing as I'm 300 miles past it already!

Steve, if your still there, the cable that looked like it had been repaired on mine wasn't a ribbon cable in the way I think of a ribbon cable, it was between the plug on the back of the monitor and where it dissapiers into the loom.

I could always bring a screwdriver to gaydon?????

Your not going to beleave this Immx but mines looks like it been repaired at from the plug to the back of the screen into the loom....this cant be a Coincidence or cant it......may be theyve already been looked at the dealerships previously...?

used my sat nav on thurdsday and when it popped up it was just black, so closed it and re-opened it and it was still black, third attempt and it opened fine as normal in full colour. is this a similar problem?

Yes, the cable may just need re-seating or it has a cracked track.

Ive ...just re-seated the mylar cable (orange stip) into the side that houses the connector which goes into the wiring loom. Its perfect now for the time being...do this may resolve the prob for you guys. :)

i think ill have a fiddle over the weekend, altho i dont use the nav that often i do like things to work properly.

Is there a fix out from Lexus? A new cable or something similar?
