Guys, installed all this on the weekend, EDFC is a great investment!!

BUT (always a damn but) there are knocking noises from the coilovers, over small bumps. What could this be? my mechanic installed the coilovers, so not sure if he did it right, as he didnt have the manual.

The gold nut on each coilover top (on the strut towers) are loose, except for one. Do i need to tighten these???

Help!! :zee:

TDi did mine and I had no knocking at first. I've got it now (at low speeds and hardly audible)

With the Japsai chassis braces its more noticeable though (but car much stiffer)

I'd expect the loose bits to be tight but suggest a call to Mark @: TDi

Mark@TDi, I cant afford STD calls, REPLY damn it hahaha!!

Thanks for that, I assume they have to be tight also, that means I have to reset EDFC again :(

But anyways, when I try to tighten it, it just keeps turning, doesnt tighten.

Fargo mentioned something about using the stock rubbers from the original suspension units

but as i havent been able to get my old ones out yet :whistling::whistling:, im not quite sure what that means

That doesn't help either,we left mine in and i've got the knocking but as Dave says its not that audible or intrusive, more noticeable on bad roads, motorways are perfect.

Our lads on the IS300.net, still haven't managed to find the solution to the knock yet, everyone is making assumptions over there too, the knocking noise is something to do with the sway bars bushes and the ball joints, rather then the suspension..

Someone on there has even got the knocking on his HKS Hyper Damper II's  so it's not just the Teins that are knocking.. ;)

i get a uneven knock sometimes from my Apexi's, ordered the Cusco Sway bars+Bushes, when i get them fitted going to lube everything up, hopefully should resolve it sooooon.

If my memory serves me right..........Mark @ Tdi's view was that it was (the knocking noise) due to the rose jointed top mounts.

With mine the noise has only become noticable since fitting the Japsai chassis braces and increasing the ride hieght from that that TEIN suggest.

So---I feel its (the noise) due to a combination of the rose joints, increased rigidity and by increasing the ride height (you shorten the springs so the ride, already firm, becomes firmer)

Thats my 2p worth

I think that is correct, it is the pillowball uppermount. Tein describe the CS as having 'A hard rubber upper mount is used for noise proofing' and as the Flex doesn't have this.......

Hey guys, went to a specialist to get my TEINS loked at. Bit of a TIght **** company, they just popped the hood, tightened the gold bolts, which they said were alrready tight. But there is STILL knocking, and its really annoying. Any other suggestion guys??

Also, car bloody shakes at 110km+/hour, the steering doesnt, im not sure what the go is here! The wheels are only 5 months old, and were blalanced, do you think it needs a new balance? As I said, the steering wheels doesnt shake, but I can feel my legs and ***** shake haha, also, alighnment is spot on.

Could it be the Teins??? Im really worried that Im to wasting $3500 here!!

Have you read this thread here:

Only other thing I can suggest is contact this guy;

Steve Bell (Access Performance Distribution) [sbell@accessauto.com.au]

Hes the distributor of Tein stuff in Oz, and I got my coilovers from him (hes in Melb) but he might be able to help you or offer suggestions
