Arrival of my NX450h+ Takumi. Sorted seat memory problem.

Recommended Posts

This week, exactly 1 year after the original order I finally took delivery of my NX450h+ Takumi, Body colour Sonic titanium trim Black and rich cream leather and wood. My enthusiasm is only slightly muted by the missing locking wheel nuts, second key, owner’s manual and tow bar electrics, all on back order.

One problem which despite reading the e-manual numerous times has been driving me mad all week was that the seat memory position would not remember. However, a knowledgeable chap from Brussels on another forum offered a solution. It would seem that my dealer had not set the seat end limits. For anyone else who may encounter this problem the solution is simple, 1) With car in P, seat belt off, turn on the electronics by pushing the start button twice without your foot on the brake. 2) Move the seat all way forward to its limit then all the way back. Although I don’t think this bit was necessary, I also moved the seat up and down to its limits and then the back forwards and backwards to its limits. 3) Set the seat and enter positional information as per instructions and all worked fine after hours of frustration. I hope this is of use to someone.

Apart from what are minor hiccups this is a fantastic car, looks and drives like a dream, well worth the wait and now glad I didn’t switch back to BMW, Merc or JLR.

Manuals in pdf form are a waste of time and I am not prepared to print 1000 plus pages, I'll wait untill a proper one arrives.

I know the feeling but I wouldn't call them a waste of time. The content could be slicker but the search is a big advantage because there are so many pages and content on a subject may appear in several places. An index doesn't usual cover all references in the same way that a search result does. The proper one is nice to have and I'm glad Lexus supply one.

As somebody who has spent their entire career in the Printing Industry I agree that there in nothing better than a hard copy printed manual!

I've had my new 450h+ Takumi for a couple of weeks now, and am just getting to grips with it. Like others, no factory fitted towbar I ordered, no locking wheel bolts and no second key fob or key card. The Tow bar is being fitted by the local dealer next week and I'm told the missing key and wheel bolts should arrive in the next 3-6 months!😳. I asked if my wheels are stolen in the meantime will Lexus indemnify me? (Silence)

Also I've been told Lexus no longer supply paper copies of the manuals and they are not looking to provide these for me which is most disappointing as they say they are simply no longer available?

I've had x2 Audi's previously and both came with neatly stowed warning triangles and useful first aid kits unlike Lexus, which have neither. I'm advised as we're no longer in the EU they are not mandatory so are not provided🤷

Pick my 450 up about 4/5 weeks and it has a full paper manual. Still waiting for mudflaps, wheel locking bolts and the second key.

  • 4 weeks later...

My dealer dropped off a full 3 part manual and a service booklet in a wallet last week just a few weeks after delivery.  Also now have it in writing from Lexus that in the event of the wheels being stolen before the locking nuts are fitted they will cover the full cost of replacement wheels and tyres, happier now just wish I had the second key.  Fantastic car, worth the wait and still learning all about it.

I don’t think I have any. There is no key to unlock it too (my previous cars came with it). And the manual does not seem to mention that it supposed to exist.

interesting…

I could have written practically the same thing myself, Colin. I recently collected my NX350h Takumi after sixteen months of waiting and indeed, just one single key, no locking bolts and no paper-copy manual. I have no interest in using my own time and money in physically printing one off the internet.

I think the lack of a manual is particularly stingy when you’ve spent considerably over £50,000 on a car. Especially with one which has so many features. There’s all sorts of weird and wonderful things on my screen which I've just had to leave alone for now. I'm literally just getting into the car and driving it, ignoring everything else other than the heating controls. Indeed, no plans on supplying them at a later date either, which on collection day come as yet another kick in the teeth to the many I already received during the course of my sixteen month wait.

Second key or locking bolts arrival? No solid answers given - just "may be twelve months". Given the complete lack of correspondence from the dealer for the vast majority of my wait, this came as no surprise to me. I have no confidence they’ll ever arrive. I was told that Lexus are currently accepting liability for any alloys that are being stolen, though. How true that is...I don't know.

Basically, the impression I got was that I should be grateful I was able to get the (incomplete) car from them...after sixteen months of waiting.

I had four Audi’s back-to-back before I moved to Lexus in 2020. My NX350h Takumi is my second Lexus and will likely be the last.

Thanks for the link @MarcG. I have been going through both those Northside Lexus videos over the last couple of weeks - I managed to find them myself, but I certainly can recommend them to anyone collecting an NX. I currently have them saved in my ‘Watch Later’ list!

I definitely found them very helpful (and they helped the hours go by whilst waiting for delivery); however, remember that they apply to the US spec vehicle and there are differences.
