Remote Engine Start

Hi All, been thinking about having a remote engine start on my IS200. I had it on my old BM and it was great.

Few questions though, I ended up paying over £600 for this, surely their must be one cheaper? Clifford Solaris g5 I think was the model. So any reccomends and decent installers.....?

Also, will this bypass the standard lexus alarm or is that sort of turned off?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Kaz. :D

i have a unit lying around somewhere!!!!!!

Basically when i had my last car, i had under car neon's, i also paid for a an aditional kit which came with a key fob part.... the idea was that you could wire it into the neon's and you could turn them on or off from about 60 metres away!!!!

However, the instructions supplied showed how to connect it to other things such as remote engine start, turn on stereo etc!!!

it was only about another £40 on top of the neon kit, and i think they sell the unit seperatly! :hehe:

I had remote start on my last two cars as part of the Clifford alarm extras.

On the manual you had to prime it while the engine was running so that you could remote start it next time, but if you disarmed the car first it would cancel the remote start until you primed it again.

On the auto is was always primed so I could start it and stop it at will even if I had disarmed the car.

The difference in functionality was due to the set up of a manaul and an auto car.

Remember though it's an offence to leave your engine running while the car is unattended and while I never had any problems using mine I have known people to get fines for using it.

If you fit a remote start and have a cat1 alarm you have just lost your cat1 status,

I have a skyline r33 gtr also and had to buy a special cat 1 alarm with build in turbo timer to keep the cat 1 status, as far as I am aware turbo timers are not illegal as the car is running for a preset time with no ignition keys present and doors locked, if they were illegal I am sure companies like clifford would not be selling them.

As for remote starts thats something I would not recommend

I thought the main problem with doing this while keeping the standard alarm is that you need to stick a key somewhere in the car, and then you can't unlock the doors with the remote anymore as it won't let you, or can you get around that?
