Fake search engines. Ultimate Search is one example. They wait for a popular domain to expire, then register it themselves and whack a crap search site on it. Not only that, they add a robots.txt file to the site that stops you accessing the old site with the Wayback Machine.

Examples:-

www.ultsearch.com

www.djamanda.com

www.hardware-update.com (hijacked from Microsoft!)

www.wbw.com

www.primealliancecyclingteam.com

Look familiar? Notice how all the stuff on the page seems to be very closely related to all the spam we get!

A more detailed example of what's going on is given here.

(Incidentally I tried grabbing www.ultsearch.co.uk when it became available, but missed out by a couple of hours. Got www.ult-search.co.uk instead, though - but it's never going to be a fake search site!)

mathematically, (where x=the "tens" part of the number and y=the "ones")

10x + y - (x+y)

simple algebra then says that is equal to 9x , as you can re-write that equation as (10x - x) + y - y

or 9x

so - whatever numbers you pick - the answer will always be a multiple of 9.

therefore - the flash puzzle only ever shows the symbol for a multiple of nine.

Check the chart - how many different symbols are there for the multiples of 9?
