Basic Tein Coilovers -35 Front -50 Rear

Sure looks good, but what does the ride say?

Are those Teins adjustable? How? I mean inbound/outbound or just height?

Does the car stay comfortable?

I'm looking around myself for a coilover setup. Looking for a comfortable ride, but adjustability for occasional amateur track use. Lots of advice that KW V3 is good, Tein EDFC even better (but no homologation down here in Belgium). But I value first hand experiences much more, so looking forward to your reply!

Did you use the OEM top mounts or get the tein top mounts. I bought a set of Basic coilovers and when I went to have them fitted he said the OEM top mounts were no good as it was metal on metal and the spring was moving around.

you should have been ok as in the kit there should have been 2 green spring location rings. where way under all the cardboard in the box. these are for the front springs at top. oem mounts worked dead on just as long as they are kept the way they came out i put a small scribed line for witch way was supposed to be pointing forward. good kit and easy to fit.

then got my geometry set to the settings in the knowledge base and the very helpfull advice from tony WIM

they are just height adjustable. are great for everyday use as not too hard when low as a lot of coilovers will get harder the higher you go as the springs are compressed more. i hear d2 coilovers are quite good and come with top mounts

hope this helps a bit

Yeah got to the garage and he hadnt even opened the spring seats or the instruction manual. Clearly an arse so now im looking for someone competent to fit them for me.

He couldnt do the halo eyes either but I managed to do them. Not that hard either.

it really not a hard job, any mechanic should be able to fit them, or if your ok with a set of spanners its not a hard job. very easy to do. but def need set of spring clamps and a mate to help push the rear suspension down while you get the strut out an in. i did it on my own and made it ten times worse than it had to be.

just keep the top mounts all the right way, mark them with a white paint marker or scribe a small line for a mental note of position

good luck

and dont forget the spring seats on front lol

D2 are utter ****

have a look in here

Knowledge Base

ive done a write up on removing springs etc.....just change the process slightly for coilovers, if thats the route you really want to go

i have not used d2 myself but no a couple of boys that have em in civics and they love them. not sure what the build quality is like but the teins seem good quality

How much lower was left to go on the threads?

Do you get any knocking without the aftermarket top mounts?

still a good 10mm on rears and 15-20 on front. no knocking at all very good value kit. would prob go adjustable damping next time would like it harder at front

Thanks for the reply. These could be just what I'm after. Not got the cash for the SS kit, and on the SS have heard without buying the top mount kit they knock. Not really fussed about adjustable damping or EDFC, just want to go lower.
