Little Speaker In Dash

dont know if this is normal, but when i took off the shelf it the centre console (usually where a sat nave would be) underneath there is a little black speaker.

is this meant to be there?

There's a bit of mesh underneath there to stop you dropping stuff into your vents it may be that.

Certainly no speaker in there to my knowledge as standard, even on the navigator models as they use the stock sound system ?

Ditto the mesh being in there to stop anything falling to far down the Air Vents.

i've tugged on the wire but cant hear any movement, seems to disappear, i thought maybe a phone speaker, but surely you wouldnt hear anything once the panel thing is back in place?

looks like an old speaker for a phone kit, not stanard as it is tie wrapped...

I'd defo say its a speaker for an old fone kit, check behind the glove box for the rest of the wiring, fav spot for fitters to dump the rest of the kit there......
