Hello again

Well as promised i've got a piccie of my first Lexus as well as a couple of questions:

Lexus.sized.jpg

My wireless key doesn't seem to work, the guy said it probably needed a new Battery, but i've checked it and there are still 2.8v in it, surely thats enough. Does this mean my key is knackered (i only have 1) how much would a new one be (or shouldn't i ask  )

And i managed to take the Drivers Door panel off to get at the speaker which wasn't working, nothing obvious so i took the panel off the passenger side..removed the drivers door speaker and plugged that into the passenger speaker cable and it worked :) ..... So i know there is nothing wrong with the speaker and the wireing seemed OK too, does this mean its the output from the stereo  does anyone know of an easy way to check.

BTW i manged to find a Japanese Car specialist garage in Lambourn who are gonna service it complete with proper spark plugs for £210 + Vat pretty good i thought..although i will have to go to Lexus when it needs it CamBelt

Hi Ants

Nice car, looks identical to mine before I lowered it and fitted sport wheels, sport grille to come.

The price you have been quoted for a service is pretty good in fact cheaper that my V6 Rover Vitesse run around which cost me £300 to service last year.

Can't help with the key prob, you may have to seek advice from a dealer and be prepared to empty your bank account.

Regards

Keith

Did it still have 2.8v in when you pressed the transmit key or was the Battery out when you tested it? Under load it usually drops dramatically.

Hopefully it's just that.

If you've tested the cables to the speakers, and the speaker itself, it sounds like one of the output transistors has gone duff. (I assume you've already checked the blanace and fader controls) I have an IS so have little experience of the amps in your car, but if you can get the amp out and look at the output transistor (usualy a large chip that has a small bolt holding them to the outer case) I can probably source one for you. If Poss, check there is an input signal to it first so we know it's definately gone. Get me the number and I can tell you where to trace for an input to it.

Hello

We have a LS and obtained a quote for a replacement radiokey at Lexus Newcastle- quite expensive at around £190!

you may find this page useful?

be aware this is an American site - I do not know if there are any differences between US and UK keys, merely that the prices on that site are significantly less than the price you quoted.

Thanks for the input guys :)

but if you can get the amp out and look at the output transistor

You got any idea how to remove the stereo/fascia to get to the amp with standard tools

Nice one the individual non-radio keys are quite cheap, but they only have sets of Radio keys in pairs and they are $295 ex postage :o i may just pop-in to the Lexus dealer in Swindon and see if they think its the Battery...i'll let you guys know
