Springs & Dealers

Hi all,

Firstly I am considering lowering my IS200 Sport. Although slightly lower than an 'S' & 'SE' model, after todays experience something needs doing.

I was cornering at speed (seeing off a little sports car) and upon snaking through a roundabout the body roll nearly caught me out (as it was also buffeting up and down). Upon seeing this, the little sports car backed off and stayed well away :duh:

So, what do I need ?

I have thought that the ride needs lowering and stiffening up. I have standard 17" 5 spoke wheels which I'll be keeping on (I like them). So I don't need it 2" off the ground, I would just like the wheels to fill the wheel arch a little better than they do. Also I would like the ride a little more solid. Therefore can any one point me in the right direction for a set of springs and shocks (manufacturer etc etc) ! ? Or even if spring stiffeners would do it, let me know.

Also in reading a lot of the posts on the forum, I have noticed that you guys refer to Lexus having done a valet on your cars when you've taken then in. I have mine in for a 100K service, and I asked if a valet was included, at which point I was told it would be washed and hoovered (not valetted as such). Is this right ? ?

Another point which struck me as slightly odd was when given a courtesy car while mine was in the shop I was asked to sign a form which gave me two options on insurance:

1) Sign for any damage occasioned by myself with a £500 excess.

2) Pay £10 a day as a damage waiver.

Is this standard practice ? ?

All help on the above points will be gratefully received !

Regards,

Nige

there are quite a few options available, try a search and you will find loads of info on it

a recent group buy was for springs ,but this was only available to gold members, one good reason of joining, gold along with many other discounts

Hi Eniggly, welcome to the Club.

Here is a link to a discussion we had a while ago when I had mine lowered. I went for the Eibach Pro springs as part of a LexusOwnersClub group buy. It lowered the car by 30mm and I'm well pleased with the look, handling and comfort.

If you use the search facility above you will get lots more results.

Hi Nige!

I can add my voice to Ifraz's on the Eibachs - well happy.

I'm up at Lexus Chester on Saturday around 9am for 40k service (and probably around 12 to pick up).

If you want to meet up and have a look - let me know. ;)

Yes - in that Lexus Chester have always asked me to sign the form.

I have always opted to pay the £10 insurance, tell them to add it to the service charge - don't think they ever have.

This may be because I have always brought the car back in one piece etc - maybe they've thought there was no need to charge the premium.

aswell as springs if you want the car to corner flatter and under more control, consider uprated anti roll bars

i think they were one of the best suspension mods ive done.......and ive done a bit
