Superchargers V Turbochargers

Hi everyone

i have been looking into getting my IS on the move a bit quicker, please could somebody let me know what they think would be the best option TTE supercharger!

or a turbocharger??

cost / performance / reliabillity would appreciate any negative, positive comments on the above

As far as i know,there arent any turbo kits for the IS200, SimonSkippy is having some developed specially,,

Most people have gone with the TTE supercharger system.. 4 grand fitted (too some ) not sure what cost the turbo will come in at..

I haven't either but if I had the choice I would rather Supercharger. More upper class oomph!!

I thought it was £3,500, there is one on eBay, but dunno what the reserve is - £1545 did not meet it!

the supercharger is "kinder" on the engine than a turbo........however the turbo can give more power..........

bid on the s/c on eBay...........

well worth the dosh...........

Maybe... a GS430 Sport seems outside my price range

Ian i'll let you know when it is done, my engine is also back to standard a the mo - some lite fingered guy going by the name of Zee nipped down to Oxford and nicked my S/C and Induction!!!

Turbo for sure!!

You get more power for the same amount of money.

But who am i to say anything.. i'm now a N/A IS200 :(

Go with the supercharger.

A turbo gives more power the higher your revs and doesn't do a lot for you at lower revs.

The boost from a supercharger is not related to revs.

Given that it's at low revs the IS most lacks power, this is a no-brainer.

a supercharger is completely related to REVS/RPM, as the supercharger is driven directly from the crankshaft......

This is why superchargers are better at low rpm because they are driven from the engine. A turbo is driven by exhaust gases and at low rpm or small throttle openings there is not enough gases to spin the turbo fast to compress the intake air.

Supercharges are normally cheaper because there is no modification needed to the exhaust system as with a turbo. Also many superchargers run in their own oil supply and don't need oil lines to/from the engine. This all cuts down on costs.
