  2. Hi ive been lurking for quite a while, having looked at changing to an isf early last year, and thought I'd say hello, as I've bought bought an ISF. Finally took the plunge and picked up my car on Saturday. I had a decent drive from Chichester home to Newcastle to get myself used to the car, and first impressions, have been very very good. Great noise from the engine, smooth gearbox, fantastic cruiser, comfortable seats and a Decent turn of speed. the car is 2011 car with dab and LSD, velvet black with white leather, and only 29000 miles. It replaces a much loved BMW e61 M5 Touring, which was an epic car, but quite fragile. Even though it never let me down, in the last 6 weeks of ownership, the warranty company coughed up the thick end of £4k in repairs, and I thought my luck was running out, so off it went. after 2 years and 24500 miles , depreciation was £0, so I can't complain. So the ISF has an hard act to follow, both cars are extremely rare, only about 200 examples of each were originally imported. I can remember seeing an isf 3 or 4 years ago, and that's it, so the rarity factor, along with the q car, quite understated looks is the main appeal of the car, as well as the reputation for utter reliability. So 2 days into ownership I'm happy with my choice, and I'm looking forward to a enjoyable and un eventful couple of years with the car. ill post some pics once I've cleaned it up after the drive home.

  3. @DT_Racing Interested to know if you find the USRS's make the ride any harder during daily driving? @Peter P18 reported the difference was minimal with a huge improvement in the feel, what are your thoughts? Seriously considering these! Thanks..

  4. Sorry to have not been back, forgot the password & the reset didn't seem to work when I last tried to get in. I'm an engineer, but not from an automotive back ground. As to cars, when younger, I just got fed up with paying experts and ending up walking to a phonebox in the middle of nowhere more often than I would like. The biggest problem with this white smoke issue, is the engine computer doing bad guess work when it gets bad data from somewhere, (didn't computer programmers use the technical term GIGO? (garbage in = garbage out)). The engine computer adjusts and evolves it's settings to what it is told by the various sensors. Unfortunately, if one of the sensors is telling fibs, the computer believes it, rather than saying that's moopoo and ignoring it. This causes the computer to do some weird things with the fith injector, AND IT DOESN'T THROW AN ERROR CODE! so often garages will be helpless as the computer doesn't tell them what to do. If you own one these cars, you need techstream and the right cable, bootlegs from Ebay are available, we were desperate so took the risk, and were ok. I'm always scared plugging one of these cables into a mostly working car, wondering if I'm about to brick the computer. Fortunately it worked. If you look at the table on this link http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/74603-p2002-fault-code-is-220d/?page=2 (picture won't post for some reason) The bit that was interesting was my "dpf differential pressure", which was all over the place, and causing the fault due to knackered wiring, and the "exhaust fuel addition FB" which is the fith injector. When the battery is disconnected for five minutes & reconnected, the exhaust fuel addition value will start at it's default which is 1.0, ours when smoking had crept up to 1.45, presumably nearer to 1.0 is good. How do you tell that the DPF is regenerating? When driving, and the pressure gauge and techstream agreed that the dpf pressure was over 5kPa (20 inches water gague) an orange ring lit up around the speedo. I assumed that this was to say the DPF was regenerating, it didn't happen at any set speed, but I can't find any other info about this. Was I wrong? Thing that may cause the fuel addition to go up? These are my guesses..................................................... Wrong DPF pressure data, due to sensor or wiring. Out of spec lambda sensor? or buggered wiring? Buggered temperature sensors for the dpf, or their wiring? "exhaust temperature B1S1" & B1S2 Who knows, but if it's smoking, see what your "exhaust fuel addition FB" value is. Anyone buying one of these cars needs a good hard test drive, just in case the battery was disconnected just before you turned up!

  5. Hi a member in the LS forum had a similar problem on his 600h- it was found to be relay or similar component at fault - the dealer did misdiagnose incorrectly at first and replaced the seat base !! - thankfully it was a warranty job so the member was not out of pocket i would speak to the deaaler in the first instance

  7. I drive past the Coventry Transport museum most Sundays and they always have meets on the concourse area outside. I've seen everything from Jag to Citroen, classics and new. Great location and if you've never been to museum it's fantastic and free !!

  9. Very strange chap. If I was selling my car and the person who was coming to view it was on the forum asking about it would give me the confidence that the buyer was serious and not just a tyre kicker. Given it is only natural for someone do find out as much information as possible about a potential purchase I find this guy's attitude a bit strange. Especially given the fact he was saying on a previous email he had been messed about by 2 people previously and was a bit wary. Anyway like I said previously his attitude has lost him a potential sale. From my couple of years on the forum I can definitely agree it is one of the friendliest.

  11. So my friend had arranged to view the car on Sunday, however the owner emailed him saying the following: 'It has been pointed out to me that either yourself or your friend have been on the lexus forum asking about my car. I do not appreciate this at all as it leads to brain dead geeks commenting on your sale without any basis just speculation on a negative tone with their thoughts' Given the above my friend has decided not to go view the car. I find his email very odd and it has led to him losing a sale. I do not feel what I did was wrong in any way and I was just looking out for my friend.

  13. Took the car to a body shop yesterday. He thoroughly inspected the area - took some of the door seal trim off, inspected around the inside of the petrol filler cap which he said had never been removed. He noted that a scratch near to the area of corrosion had gone straight through to the original factory applied primer coat. He couldn't see any sign a previous accident repair or of re-spraying, and said that there would always be a lip/edge of new paint somewhere to feel if it had been re-painted. He advised me to fight the case with the dealer. Now waiting for the service manager to get back from his holiday.

  15. I have just inherited my dads old IS 250. Don't worry he's still alive. It's a 2011 model with about 38,000 miles on the clock, serviced by Lexus for the first few years, by me for the last couple. Looking forward to contributing
