  1. 2008 just coming up to 98,000 miles, had it for 2 years. It needed new disks and pads almost straight away despite a full service history. This was a really easy DIY job, apart from the seized rear slide pin. My local garage freed it with some heat and a big spanner. New pins were cheap from Lexus on e-bay. But that's just wear and tear!

  2. I paid £1700 and accepted £1500 which, under the circumstances was ok and I was more than happy with that deal. There was quite a few things that needed doing, which were explained to any prospective buyer. The buyer was the first to offer cash and drive it away. Job done.

  3. I looked into this last year. If you want 2 of both then source a left hand drive light cluster to give you two reversing lights. Then buy two led fogs that replace the reflectors in the bumper. I was going to do this but then traded my IS for a GS.

  4. Richard, I think you'll find that the space where the second reversing light should be is actually the rear fog. Its a clear reflector with red LED's. I agree with you on the build quality. My 250 certainly feel better built than the 300. Now there's a thought, it's still in my garage. Perhaps I could palm the 300 off to my buyer and keep the 250 ! That would solve my rear fog problem !!!!! Only joking, just like you I also think the 300 is a great car, different and more fun to drive.

  5. The reverse light uses a bulb whereas the fog is led so unlikely to blow.

  8. Thanks for that Mike. The council have emailed my sister back apologising for what's happened and have also said they are going have a word with their bin men as a lot of people have complained about the way just drag the bins and then just leave them anywhere on the street

  9. If they don't budge you aren't trying hard enough but you won't get more than £1k off unless it's your lucky day I'm pretty frank with my main dealer. I usually give then a lower price than I expect to pay and if they say "oh well lose money on it" ill say, and I quote "look, don't bull**** me because we both know that's not true, you paid less than book price and you're making atleast £3k on it". That usually brings them down a bit

  10. Well I have had my first Lexus now for 3 months and I really just cant stop looking at this machine. It's a sculpture, there is nothing on the road close to this car for me. Performance, comfort it's all there. I drive to Liverpool with the wife and kids and a full boot of luggage. I have read so many reports complainig about the back seats and the boot volume. Not for me. Anyway all I am saying is I really cant see me ever leaving Lexus unless they decide to radically change the look again only for the worse. Enjoy your vehicles and be safe.

  12. Yes. Once you change gear manually by pressing the downshift (-) paddle then the box remains in manual mode. It will only switch back to auto if you come to a stop OR you hold on to the upshift (+) paddle.

  13. It could be an airlock in the heater matrix. Have you tried "burping" the cooling system?

  14. 2 weeks later and the dealership has told me lexus dont feel the servo is where the noise is coming from and the whole dashboard is going to come out so they can find the creeky part ,its going in on the 19th of september and i have a courtesy car for a week hopefully this will be enough time for them to find the noisy part, receive the replacement parts and re assemble WITHOUT any rattles and creaks being thrown in foc.

  15. Update.........To anyone who is having a similar issue....i had 1 broken tooth on my timing gear sprocket. Please check this out and be careful when removing the timing pulley as you have to loosen a 10mm bolt before you yake it off!

  16. I think the dealers are interested if you have the current or last gen model of RX, if you have Gen 1, 2 or 400h, they aren't interested in helping you other than scaring you with a large bill to tempt you to upgrade - "you have dust on your break disc, that'll be £120 for the part and £400 to fit... Or I can give you a discount on a shiny used/new RX....)" Hmmmmm....

  17. I had the same happen to me recently and two weeks after getting it repaired it happened again in exactly the same spot which incidentally was the same spot as yours. its a bumper off and respray to do it properly. cost me £270 from a reputable paint sprayer near me. the annoying thing is no matter how good the spray job you attend to notice a slight difference in colour. In my case with silver its to do with how the metallic flec sits in the paint. Would have to spray in both side panels as way to completely blend at additional cost. hope you get it sorted quickly as there is nothing worse than driving with damaged bodywork.
