  1. Given the fact we have neither extreme summers or extreme winters I just don't understand why the default tyre provided in this country isn't All Season? Having to purchase, swap and store 2 sets is expensive and difficult yet it doesn't take much to thwart summer tyres on a rear wheel drive car during the winter months.
  2. You'll be wanting some Bridgestone Blizzak tyres.
  3. Here you go: Fairly major improvements in the 2010 MY including the LSD, DAB and HDD Sat Nav, def worth going for over the 2008 MY if you can. You can check if 2010 MY by looking for DAB button. (Also added white interior option and USB colour) 2011 MY added major improvements to the suspension, DRL and moved the sport button to the steering wheel, also new layout speedo / rev. 2012 MY more susension changes and I believe change in tyre width No ISFs have ventilated seats, they couldn't find the space to get the fans in with the sports seats. No TV option
  4. Short runs on a cold engine are terrible no matter what, get about 10% more from a 1.8 turbo than a 5L NA V8!
  5. Um wouldn't base dealer prices on anything - they offered me £28k for mine 1yr old, I laughed and told them no way as they would be selling it at £40k. Ended up selling it to webuyanycar.com £32.5k and it's ended up at a main dealers at.....£40k Lexus need to sort out the buy back, they really try and low ball you. Merc offer about 60% GFV after 3 years, Lexus about 50% after 2!
  6. That's standard - if the car thinks there will be a crash it will tighten the seat belt and close windows & sunroof. For the ISF it also has the advanced from ACC, if you get to close to an object BRAKE comes up in the console and it primes the brakes. If still nothing it even puts brakes on at last second to slow impact speed.
  7. Would probably get Lexus to fit just in case (although unless they can prove the sensors wre responsible they shouldn't avoid a warranty claim) They do good set price deals on the sensors, £299 rear or £599 frnt and rear. Price includes everything: http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/parts-and-accessories/index.tmex#/ParkingSensors
  8. Great value, it's a 62 plate with 2 miles. It's going to be pre reg, but then that does avoid the £1k first year road tax! It's a recent MY so wil have the better suspension: http://www.sytner.co...cle&vhl=-355573
  9. Speed doesn't cause accidents bad driving does. Speed makes an accident worse if it happens but driving 5 feet behind someone on the motorway is far far more dangerous than driving 100+ on a completely empty motorway.
  10. If you have some jeweller screwdrivers to open the key fob it's an easy diy. Dealer charges about £10 to do inc the battery.
  11. What did you have done years 3 to 7? Guessing new tyres and brakes would have been the £1k mark but £3k? Ouch! Very interesting post though thanks!
  12. This thread will probably help: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=69036
  13. So little amount over I am sure they will be perfectly ok with it.
  14. We had that on ours, sadly can't remember what is was sorry all I know is it wasn't anything serious (expensive), Lexus sorted it (although missis says still happens at very low speeds moreso when wheels turned).
  15. Thanks for the report, sounds like good value - the essentials also has fixed price consumables like brakes etc at very good prices as well. If it's just 2 sensors gone might be worth asking cost of replacements?
  16. From Club Lexus forums: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/lfa-model/638457-lady-driving-her-lfa-like-it-was-meant-to-be-using-launch-control-and-acceleration.html Video direct: Love the bit at 3:40 where she gets busted for speeding and when the officer says caught @114 mph she replies with oh got me slowing down lol
  17. And hold on this vote needs updating!!! Where is the Lexus LFA?! Now THAT would get my vote :)
  18. Erm is it just me who thinks if you got the Bugatti you could actually sell it and buy every other car on the list? (Ok prob not the Zonda ;)
  19. £600+ is a bargain really - by the time you consider the excess she would have paid and the amount renewals would have gone up not surprised she sent cheque with no quibble, not even any stupid whiplash claim. In today's world it's actually very nice to hear of a straight forward civilised outcome like this (Sorry for your car though :( )
  20. I would phone the dealers you have it booked at and ask them exactly what will be carried out and what quality parts will be used. If you could report back that would also be very useful for those planning on the same service!
  21. Well it's now been 7 months of ownership and 4,000 miles travelled so thought I would give a little update on the car. The car was bought as a "practical" replacement for my SLK 350 as needed a car with space for a baby seat. I can safely say little one is a true fan of the car, he loves the sound of the engine and even seems to enjoy the stiff ride with little complaint even on long journeys :) Have had no problem with fitting of car seat, getting little one in and out or fitting pram and everything else in the boot for 2 adults + baby for going away. The car has been a pleasure to own, needless to say nothing has gone wrong and the only trip to the dealer I have made was just to ask them to tighten the foot brake as the torque of the engine meant the car would still creep forwards even with it on. Motorway cruising is effortless with engine barely ticking over, refinement is superb with quiet cabin and using the ACC lends to a very relaxed journey, 30+mpg is obtainable and v.high 20's easy on a motorway cruise. Around town mpg drops to the late teens depending on traffic flow, temp etc. Depending on how much motorway you do compared to urban the claim of 24 average is realistic (Was also satisfying to speak to a new Golf R owner who was complaining they only got 26/27mpg out of that - 2L Turbo vs 5L NA ) Sport mode really brings the car alive allowing the switch between a relaxed gentle cruise and proper sports sedan, M mode with paddles works superbly but I have found it very difficult to keep the ride smooth (Probably more from lack of practice TBH) so not used much with wife and little one in the car As with other owners have had issues with brake dust and how to keep on top of it - I did take Tel's advice and bought myself some Poorboys however I don't seem to always remember to use it however I can tell you the single best product I have found for sorting the residue out once on your wheels - Iron X - you can get it in Spray and Paste form, I purchased a large bottle of the paste version (the paste version sticks to the rims so can work longer on the residue) http://polishyourcar.co.uk/carpro-ironx-paste-500ml.html just needs rubbing over the wheel and leaving for a few mins (It reacts with the Iron residue making it water soluble) now I just need to make sure to use the Poorboys after Car sounds superb under hard acceleration and once you hit 3500+rpm the noise is glorious!!! Always becomes a difficult choice - listen to the amazing stereo or listen to the amazing engine...!!!! Would I change anything? Hmm yes the suspension for the 2011MY - although I don't find it overly hard there is definitely room for a more relaxed ride when cruising. However it's a small point and the car still continues to amaze and brings a smile to my face every time I start it up Also still only seen 1 other on the road, so exclusive and rare, just adds to the appeal!!
  22. Rubbish, test drove a 250 and that was very quiet and comfy - just wasn't fast enough for me so went for ISF. Now that has a stiff ride but it's still very quiet.
