  1. after seeing those completely drinlled discs on the american prolex website i want them, they look like porche discs. very pretty!
  2. why does no one make a indcution kit that would connect to the first part of the standard indction kit? that way you would get the cold air etc?
  3. has anyone fitted any aftermarket gear knobs. I was looking thru some nice ones in halfords the other fay
  4. ............ are there any links to the instal of matts rover v8? i remember him talking about it. Also if anyone has any info on the out of the box "ford cammer" engine i would be very greatful
  5. well its carbon fibre on the outside but truth be told its fibreglass on the inside! but it looks great. altho i had to drill it to mount the air temperature sensor. Not got the cold air scoop thing, but wish i did. definately worth having. Buy one now!
  6. me me me me, i need new discs badly, as mintex $%^& me over on delivery again! no fair. For me i would love a larger set of discs and a set of 4 pots for the front. Who would be supplying the components?
  7. well i am very impressed at your response. you could easly have attacked a few people but i feel that was a dignified response. :winky: How do ya feel about dropping a carbed V8 into my engine bay, with only a couple of wires i would hope there wouldnt be too many problems???? have you considered this, maybe that new ford cammer engine. brand new out of the box for less than £5k. Me thinks my car might be the next project car?
  8. go to any sign shop (vinyl signs, look em up in the yellow pages) and they will have the lexus logo on file. measure how big ya want em then get em to make ya some! i got 4 sets for £10 in chrome. enuf to do the car 4 times. front and rear. altho most have found their way onto my snap on tool box etc, lol.
  9. As a contracts manager for a large fitout company i would be ashamed that if i promised that my work would be done by a set date and it wasnt etc etc. I would lose my company its reputation that it has created. But if you stand up and admit there is a problem then people are more accepting. But blaming it on staff levels is a no no. People pay for a service and at a premium. They dont give a $%^& about staff levels they just want the job done and their product. Its a rule of buisiness. I bet tho when the car comes out that all the time it has taken will make it all worth the wait. But its now etched into the minds of a lot of potential customers the problems that have occured here. I think the TDi PR man has to come out and recify this, and put peoples minds to rest.
  10. yeah, and to me it doesnt realy reflect well on TDI themselves. I know they have some great workmen there. But they are advertising this conversion on the web site! now i am seriously considering an engine transplant of some kind (money dependant) and at the moment i would be staying far far away from TDI. I couldnt afford to be without the car for so long. Also after watching that Rod millen V8 conversion im left feeling that it didnt take them nearly 2 years and that was a super dooper electronic nightmare. Maybe matt should send it over there for the final tweaks!
  11. i do love mdf, all ya need is a jigsaw, some heavy grit sandpaper (and a electric planer if ya got one) and y acan make any kind of shape. i used it for a few sculptures at school and college. but i hate trying to cover it with fabric, heck i hate trying to cover anything with fabric. so well done on that job. altho a nice red alacantara (*** knows how ya spell it?) would have looked trick tho! well done again :winky:
  12. amazing looking instal there, car is looking super sweet! did you screw directly into the body shell to secure the rack?
  13. i have the full carbon fibre TDi Na induction kit, It has the same routing and is great. Heat was a problem till i removed the plastic piece behind the grill, this allowed 80% more airflow thru the grill. It does look like they will have to lengthen the pipe a little longer tho to get it behind the light. There is also the issue that the radius from the top of the Carb means that is fouls the insulation on the hood, meaning that you have to SLAM the hood. but its ok realy. Looks better than that last piece of $"!% they offered us
  14. now get the TDi induction kit, i had the hiper b4 i fitted the induction kit. all i can say is that it ROOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSS like hell and is much better than with the standard air box. Throttle response is greatly improved and power is definately up!
  15. if you want to drive it a like a Vtec then get an induction kit (TDi) and an free-er flowing exhaust (HKS) and you will find the engine is a lot more spritely. Plus you will get better MPG! Low down power is a bit pony, but the 6 speed box lets you keep it on the boil. I drive my one very hard and it loves to be revved.
  16. well just recently i had changed my pads to the mintex variety. Now the origional discs have a bit of a lip but they went on ok. Later on i started to get a rubbing sound coming from the discs, then a clunking. not good. But yesterday i stripped them down to find that the new pad is 1mm wider than the origional. This was causing the bottom of the pad to ride ever so slightly on the lip/chanel that the old pads had created. I took a file and removed the edge of the pad, which has helped remove the repetative noise but the heat that it had generated has ever so slightly warped the disc creating a slight amount of distortion to one section, fitting the new discs from mintex monday. Hope this can be a little help. BTW it was only on the right hand side caliper.
  17. well i can hook you up with the guy who tints my windows, he is a good frinend and agrees to do anyone i personaly recomend to him for virtualy cost! he is an importer of the film and as anyone who has seen my car in person will tell you does a great job. I could have your whole car done for under £200 in any shade you want. PM me for details. He is based near dartford in kent, Birchwood to be precise.
  18. Thats a good price you got that for, congrats. You will definately love the car, we are all total fans of them here and its an addictive car to own. Good luck with the mot!
  19. no point in buying them then having a local installer fit it! might as well just do it propperly and spend the £££ and have a pro do the whole lot from scratch. Nothing looks worse than a badly done tint job. And for the sake of £200+ you will keep your car looking sweet and not cheap. Your driving a lex not a nova lol.
  20. how much were they? were they difficult to fit?
  21. looking soooo sweet, cant wait to see that bonnet in the flesh in a week or two. will be so jelous, lol. Perhaps that little shunt from the bmw c**t was meant to be!
  22. i got mine thursday and it took me only 20 mins to fit. which is cool. Power is up quite a bit altho its lost a little at the low end but once its revving its a happy bunny. Combined with the TDi NA induction kit the roar is tremendous, altho the fuel consumption has gone up quite a bit! not sure if thats just me driving with my foot down everywhere? Still its a very cool zorst and im well happy with it.
  23. i use michelin pilot sports front and rear, they are quite a soft compound but are totaly worth it. I am not a sunday driver kind of person. i like to drive it how it was made to be driven. lol.
  24. from a mintex pad dealer, hahaha. no seriously look on the mintex web site, www.mintex.co.uk and look up your local dealer
  25. i am gonna be sending my wheels to "spit and polish" in tonbridge, kent. They are the best around. They acid strip them, repair and reshap any dents/problems. Primer seal the alloy. Powder coat to your colour, then clear powdercoat it to seal it in. for a full set of 17" rims its £51 per wheel. But remember powdercoated rims are super strong!
