  1. Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is what I use.
  2. What exactly does that mean? What did you ask? What you need to know is do they still corrode? What warranty do they have? The stealership will play with words if you let them.
  3. When I got my IS250 it was from a Lexus Used Approved dealer, so came with a 1 year warranty. About 10 months later, the front wheels showed signs of blistering so got them replaced for free. About 18 months later the new ones started to blister, despite regular cleaning/waxing. Although that was a few years ago I doubt the issue has since been resolved. I am also thinking about buying a new set and getting the current ones refurbished for winter tyres and will definitely get them coated with sealant prior to use.
  4. Under 30k miles? Don't bother changing the plugs until 60k miles.
  5. I think you've answered your own question. You've read some of the 220D horror stories on this forum which has put you off the diesel. If you go for the 250 get an auto SEL with Mark Levinson sound system which will also come with rear reversing camera. I've had mine almost 7 years now and still love it like I did when I first bought it. I've not had any problems with it apart from the (well documented) corrosion of the alloy wheels and sticking calipers. Apart from those two issues it's run beautifully, just keep it regularly serviced (every 10,000 miles) and the occasional top up of oil in between when necessary.
  6. I've always used Castrol Edge 5W30. Yes it's more expensive but I've never had any issues with it and figure my engine is worth it!
  7. Lexus currently have a great warranty offer available until end of 2014 of 2 years cover for the price of 1, which includes MOT test cover and Lexus Roadside Assistance for £495. Call 0844 871 7753 quoting LLMC. The offer is only available to those who received the email, a copy of which you have to take with you to claim the offer.
  8. Most likely the bulb, I had the same problem a while back. If your test confirms this, replace both if HIDs.
  9. If selling privately in say 6 months time, you would probably be able to add £795 to the value of the car as the buyer would be getting 18 months Lexus guarantee, very appealing. Plus you will have peace of mind during your remaining ownership. I think that's worth taking into consideration.
  10. My previous car had an oil change with Magnatec, thought it was ok until next change was done with Edge. Immediately noticed the difference (I'm talking about when the changes were done and not comparing 1yr Magnatec against new Edge) and also the longevity of the smooth running engine after the change. It does cost more but it's well worth it.
  11. I always use Castrol Edge (hope all you guys are using the same) 5w30, the Castrol Magnatec is, as pointed out by North west beast, pants!
  12. Yes the petrol auto box is definitely the one, the diesel is not as good and many on this forum have reported problems. When you do get to drive the car on a clear straight road put your foot down, you'll hear the V6 roar, it sounds more refined than most V6s but it definitely roars!
  13. Yes the Lexus has so much as standard that you would have to pay for as extras on other marques. It will take a little time but you'll get used to the rear camera. Does yours have the red line at the back? That is the rear bumper, so use that as a guide and you'll be fine. Its also slightly over generous so you get an extra few cms past the line before you'd hit something.
  14. If that was me selling for £5,800 and someone offered me £5,500 I would take it. If the seller won't budge then walk away but leave your phone number so he can contact you if he changes his mind. Chances are your offer will be accepted.
  15. Try a haggle to get at least £300 of that price, £5,500 tops is what I would pay. Also, was it just pads or discs replaced as well?
  16. If you switch off the interior lighting, when the door is opened then the scuff plates will also be off.
  17. Of course the steering wheel controls are illuminated, otherwise how would you be able to see them at night?
  18. Have you tried pressing the 'Display' button? This turns the screen on if off, or off if on.
  19. That is very interesting Exdee. To hear that it could be the grease type and not the caliper design after all. Mine will be due for disc and pads change soon so will get the calipers serviced with ceratec at the same time.
  20. A good budget to mid range tyre is the Nexen 6000. I'm on my second set now (all round) and can highly recommend them if your driving style isn't too 'spirited'.
  21. You could try Forte's Advance Formula Diesel Treatment, search on eBay. I believe they are used by Lexus (well they do the petrol derivative for my IS250). I would avoid Redex, not sure about Wynns.
  22. I use Castrol Edge 5W30 despite the change from Lexus to 0W30 as its easier to find for top ups. There will be minimal difference between the two grades.
  23. If the radio and AUX input plays with sound then it would seem that the amplifier is working. Its more likely that the problem is with the DVD player. You mention that you recently purchased the car - why not contact the seller with regard to the problem? As for disconnecting the battery negative terminal, its worth a try, as sendz advises.
