  1. Chances are a wiper blade from scrap yard will corrode soon enough. Best bet is to take them off and sand/prime/repaint. Then you know they're going to last many years, if not the lifetime of the car.
  2. All the best with the claim. However, even if you are proved correct your insurance premium will go going up that extra bit more as you've made a claim. This is how it works whether it's your fault or not. I had a claim 4 years ago, was proved right but it still stays on your record for 5 years! What a rip off. This is the case as soon as you inform your insurance company of the accident, whether you make a claim or not.
  3. The OP wants recommendations for good value to performance ratio. No doubt Linas is going to chime in here, but I cannot praise Nexen N8000 tyres highly enough. Now I don't drive like a lunatic, but I've found these to be excellent value for money. In fact, the manager of place I get my tyres fitted commented that his brother has the same tyres on the same car and thinks they outperform much more expensive brands. I should add that I have 17" rims.
  4. Black or shadow chrome gets my vote.
  5. Looks great IMO, just watch out for those kerbs and sleeping policemen!
  6. Reflector lights are tacky, steering wheel ok, lip/skirts state MY11-13 only. The compatibility checker states that yours (MY10) is incompatible.
  7. I'm sure it looks good in the flesh, but to me the pictures don't seem to do it justice. Now you need new 18" alloy rims, it looks a bit silly with the OEM 17" wheels.
  8. @rayaans many thanks for the recommendation, just ordered a bottle from Euro Car Parts during their Easter Sale for £7.97 - enter code EGG56 for the discount.
  9. Because the same symptoms happened to me. BTW, ebay sell new for £212 + delivery.
  10. When you lost power steering, did you lose power brakes also? Did the rest of the dashboard lights come on? I had the same symptoms as you as in whining noise from the alternator. Turned out to be alternator on the way out. Don't concern yourself with the Euro Car Parts price - they won't be able to source you one anyway. Plenty on ebay for about £212 delivered. There are two types for IS250 depending on model year, so make sure you do a compatibility search on the product page. Also you could get yours refurbished, mine cost £80 fitted.
  11. Yes I can never tell. One side of the dipstick shows low and the other high! I believe 6.5 litres is the recommended amount for an oil change. You should be fine as long as you don't rev the engine too high for the next 200 miles, during which the excess oil should burn off. I was also wondering what level is the oil at when the 'oil low' warning comes up on the dashboard display. It would be nice to know how much to top it up by, even if it is an approximation.
  12. The guy was decent enough to own up to hitting you. I think you should return the act of decency by not going to Lexus for the repair. As others have said, this is a reasonably simple repair for any competent body shop, I'd estimate £400-£500 tops. Lexus will charge 3 times that amount and send it out for repair anyway. If it was me that hit you I'd be happy to pay the body shop £500 out of my pocket than go through insurance, so maybe this option would suit him as well.
  13. Did you buy from Lexus used approved? If so you have a 12 months warranty.
  14. It has been mentioned numerous times on this forum - and I have to agree - the IS250 mk2 is the best bang for buck car in its class you can buy. So if mine was written off tomorrow, I'd get another one, there are plenty still for sale in great condition with low mileage. If I was after something newer, I'd hunt for a IS250 mk3. They are rare, but have the same engine as the mk2 and also a 6 speed auto gearbox, so the refinement of ride should be pretty much the same.
  15. It does seem strange that the plan costs £50 more than the individual service costs now, it used to be the same price. Lexus encourage you to buy the plan as each year the cost of an individual service increases. By purchasing a plan, you're guaranteed no increase over the 3 years covered.
  16. The loose wire is not the problem. It just needs putting back in its holder which is that bit of plastic sticking out from left of the battery cover, but doing that just tidies the wire - it won't have any effect on the running of the car if you just leave it where it is.
  17. Congrats on your purchase. Mine is also Cadoxton Slate with beige interior. Another check - make sure it comes with two key fobs and that BOTH work.
  18. These are originals: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190818322842?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT £2.24 for 10 clips.
  19. At least the Tesla driver was thoughtful enough to put the hazard warning lights on
  20. @is200 Newbie Kudos to you! I think a change of your avatar is your next job!
