  1. I got Michelin CCs on my RX450h and then on my previous NX. Current NX still has the original Yokohama, which I find too noisy... can't wait to change them. Americans are obsessed about tyre rotation which I understand they insist on doing once a year. I understand that the practice aims to even out wear, but I don't understand why it is not recommended in other countries.
  2. This is something that reviewers like to complain the most about. It is true that it is not the most intuitive, however you soon get used to it. As per Ed's comment, menus can be counter intuitive too, especially for things that you don't do very often. A prime example is changing the satnav clock twice a year.
  3. I went from RX400h, to RX450h and I am now on my second NX in the spec you are looking at (F-Sport Takumi). We down sized for similar reasons to yours and don't regret the move. The NX certainly is not as quick, but is plenty quick enough on today's roads and is more manageable from a size perspective. It is not hugely smaller, but it's enough to make a difference in town and when parking. It is of course cheaper to run, although beware of the road tax! I find the car very smooth (especially with Michelin Cross Climate tyres), and that version comes fully loaded with gadgets and an excellent sound system. A facelifted version will come with Android Auto / Apple Car Play compatibility too. Interestingly, some people have reported that the seats in the F-Sport are uncomfortable and the ride too harsh. Personally, I much prefer the F-Sport seats to the 'standard' ones, and I find the stiffer suspension better suited to the car, or at least to my driving style. I also prefer the F-Sport look. With regards to build quality, I did not have any issue with the previous NX (F Sport with pan roof), although I noticed that the lacquer on the alloys was starting to flake off. The NX is supposed to be one of the most reliable cars money can buy. I can't comment on the latest one as I have only had it 3 or so weeks, but I don't expect it to be any different from a reliability point of view.
  4. Breakdown cover also covers you if you drive another vehicle, ie if you have a second car.
  5. I have the Nextbase 380GW dashcam fitted to my car. This is the dashcam supplied and fitted by Lexus. The dashcam has a 'parking mode' option that can be switched on/off. Ideally, I would like to have this switched on permanently, but I am concerned that if the car is not driven for a while (for instance when left in an airport carpark, if I ever travel for business again!!!), this may deplete the battery to the extent that I may not be able to start the car upon my return. Before I contact Nextbase (I think they are better placed to answer this than Lexus), has anyone got real life experience of this?
  6. No need to replace your plates: you can get stickers from ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311&_nkw=uk+car+sticker&_sacat=0
  7. Can't help being a little disappointed. I feel that this new model is an evolution - externally at least - that has diluted the personality of the NX. It has lost the wow factor that made it stand out from the crowd and has become a little too... generic. On the other hand, it looks like the interior may be going in the right direction: it seems that the remote touchpad has been ditched in favour of a larger touchscreen.
  8. I thank you. Oddly, the car does not have memory seats, but the rear mirrors do dip down when you put the car in reverse. I always thought you could not have one without the other. The car was registered in May 2018, but has covered just over 11,000 miles. It was supposedly a management team. Still has that new smell.
  9. I wouldn't as it will affect the effectiveness of various sensors, including that of the radar cruise control. These are calibrated to the height of the car. It may also invalidate your warranty, and possibly your insurance.
  10. I wouldn't. It would affect the effectiveness of the radar cruise control and other sensors. These are calibrated to a certain height. You may also invalidate your warranty, and possibly your insurance.
  11. This is a comment I posted to another thread a while back and which might be of interest. It is old, but I think it may still be relevant. The incident I am referring to was related to the clear coat, but I am told that wax or similar could cause the same issue. I had a similar problem with an RX back in 2015. This is the feedback I got from the dealer at the time, which may be of interest: The sensors are made of three main parts. An outer ring, a small disc (the sensor), and in between a rubber ring. The sensor works in a way that similar to a sonar, sending and receiving sound waves. The rubber ring around it allows the sensor to register the tiny vibrations from incoming sound waves. When the 3G glass coat (clear coat protection) was applied to my car, it was also applied over the sensors and surrounding rubber ring. Over time, the 3G glass coat hardened to such an extent that the rubber ring became completely rigid, thus preventing any kind of movement., hence confusing the system. The sensors were removed, dismantled and thoroughly cleaned so as to remove all trace of the clear coat, and then re-installed. No problem was experienced after this.
  12. In response to the OP, I believe the best compromise is a F-Sport with Premier/Takumi pack. You get the looks of the F-Sport... with the extras from the Premier/Takumi. I have just upgraded my pre facelift white F-Sport (which had premium navigation) to a mesa red F-Sport with Takumi pack and gained, in addition to the extras that came with the facelifted F-Sport model: - Mark Levinson audio system - wide screen satnav (which I am getting upgraded to accept Google Maps, etc.) - blind spot monitor - head up display - Sport and Sport + modes - All-round camera - Heated steering wheel - panoramic roof (which I had as an extra on my previous NX) I think - may be wrong on that one - that the only thing that might be missing is the memory function for the electric seats and the heated rear seats.
  13. Given that the current Mokka was a rebadged Chevrolet, which in turn was a rebadged Daewoo, I have to assume that, if the name is not changing, the new car is also likely to come from Daewoo. On that basis Lexus probably doesn't have much to worry about. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  14. I have used a Stihl cordless mower a couple of times. It was brilliant. It was not mine though and I believe they are pricey. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  15. I used to average 28-29 mpg on my 2009 RX 450h. That was driving 'normally' as I like to enjoy my cars, 50% motorway (25k miles per year). I am sure some will tell you you can easily achieve low 30s if you are careful and keep the car in ECO mode, but I'm my view enjoyment is more important than a few extra miles per gallon which, in the grand scheme of things are not going to make a huge difference cost wise. 16. I love it. We've already decided that this will be the colour combination of our next NX... If we stick with an NX. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  17. Same here. I have opted for the service plan for all my Lexus. Price is inflation proof, you get a handy discount (including on the cost of MOT) original parts are used, etc. And because the plan is based on the number of miles you drive you don't pay more than you need to. 18. Usually with most cars, including Lexus, services are every 10k miles or every year... Whatever comes first. You should be able to check in the owners manual or on the Lexus website. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  19. I would not bother with the voice recognition... It's useless and if you manage to get it to work, you have to go through so many confirmation menus, it's quicker to do it manually. Lexus voice control reminds me of Mrs Doyle in Father Ted! Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  20. I would first unpair the phone and start again. I would also reboot/restart the phone to refresh the settings Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  21. You do have it: your satnav has the wider screen and the touch pad as opposed to the rotary controller. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  22. I recently saw an NX in blazing carnelian and it looked amazing, especially in sunlight. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  23. Why is it shocking? What does it cover? Prestige car and expensive maintenance costs go hand in hand. Sent from my Galaxy Note 10 Plus using Tapatalk
  24. I can but recommend Lexus Hedge End (Southampton). I have been going there for the past 9 years and have bought 3 cars from them. I also trust them to service my car 2 or 3 times per year (I do a lot of miles). Sent from my Galaxy Note 10 Plus using Tapatalk
  25. Tris topic has been extensively covered in these forums. You do not need headlights adaptors on any Lexus model. Sent from my Galaxy Note 10 Plus using Tapatalk
