  1. A beautiful piece of bombproof engineering....and a German bunker above Dieppe
  2. It looks like there is enough of us for an ex-Army RC-F club. I was a Sapper back in the day. I seem to recall Big Rat has done his time in green for Queen and Country too.
  3. I like that idea a lot. With a racing exhaust and weight stripped out it could look and sound extraordinary
  4. Yes, blue was only available on Model Year 2010 cars onwards., but I think a few are out there on '59' plates. My red one was a MY09 car on a '10' plate, so it helps to know the details when buying.
  5. I would hazard a guess that Germans like driving very fast on their Autobahnen And the Dutch and Belgians like driving fast on German Autobahnen
  6. I suspect that it is a limiter (equates to 270 kph). The RCF has a similar quoted top speed and it accelerates well up to a point then stops you going faster. The speedo on mine read 177 mph when electronics stopped the fun, despite repeated attempts to go faster. I imagine 177 on the clock was 168 actual. I can recommend the newish 3 lane section of Autobahn 4 to the East of Aachen, early on summer Sunday. Conveniently it is on the route between Spa and the Nurburgring
  7. I was pondering the switch from RCF to LC. One of the turn-offs was the reduction in space. the Hybrid had a tiny boot and the LC500 was still noticeably smaller than the RCF. The back seats felt tighter in the LC too.
  8. I use Black Circles for tyres. I order online and they deliver them to a nearby fitter. You get to choose which garage and typically I can get them fitted within 48 hours. Through them I found an excellent local MoT type garage who now fit tyres to all our family's cars as well as doing servicing and MoTs for those outside of warranty periods. Its interesting to hear the wear rate of the hybrids. I got 28,000 miles out of the rears on my F, but I guess the 300H also has plenty of torque?
  9. My original RC-F discs and pads are still healthy at 44000 miles. At least I think they are original, the first owner may have burned through a set in his 1500 miles...
  10. I'm not sure I entirely agree with that Pielight; I believe our posts do have an indirect effect.. Before I bought my ISF, I spent a year lurking on this forum and discovered the outstanding build quality and bulletproof reliability of the car. That gave me confidence to spend 60% more on the Lexus than I'd ever spent on a car before. It seemed like a whole lot of money at the time, but nearly 5 years of ownership made it feel like a bargain. When pondering a switch to a Giulia QF, I lurked on an Alfa forum too. I concluded the cars were not worth to me what dealers were asking
  11. I use a giant yellow Autolok 2000 steering lock, which was top rated when I bought it. It may not stop a committed thief, but I believe it may be seen as enough of a nuisance to deter some.
  12. I use the Autotrader valuation tool to keep an eye on prices. I use the Part exchange figure as a benchmark Jan 2021. 38600 miles: £20,910 Oct 2021. 43000 miles: £ 25,150 That lift seems to match the prices I've been hearing about on this forum. Of course it is all artificial until I actually choose to sell, but it might be tempting to trade it in against a £31,000 GR Yaris
  13. I would call that a 'morning after a very strong curry' effect. Might be in keeping with a VXR8, but certainly not a Lexus
  14. This 'manual' thing you speak of seems to be a goldmine of useful information. Thanks for the tip
  15. Best done on dry roads with warm tyres and pointing in a straight line
  16. Yes that video is pretty much accurate for the RCF. I've had my RCF for over 6 years, I picked it up at 3 months old, with 1500 miles on the clock. Previously I kept my ISF for nearly 5 years. Before those two, I changed every 2 years. I can see me running the RCF for another few years; there is no reason to change and I adore it.
  17. Every day a school day, as they say. Maybe I can now forget about the manual and keep LenT happy
  18. My 2015 RCF has a foot operated parking brake. Maybe it was discontinued in facelifted models? I find it very easy to use, but I have no injuries.
  19. Thank you for all your helpful replies. I shall keep the AC on from now on Bizarrely, I went out yesterday when it was even hotter than Sunday and the AC worked fine. Over the next couple of weeks I shall see if I can re-enact the not-working situation. I have entertained the idea that it may have been user error on Sunday after a 5+ hour cycle race in the Peak District. I may even read the user manual
  20. I discovered yesterday my RC-F air-con is not blowing cold. I'm wondering if this could be fault and how would I check. Or is it the re-gas that every dealer seems to push at each visit? Is 6 years with relatively little AC use reasonable for it to disappear? Thanks for your thoughts / experiences
  21. V Power all the way. I reckon it improves fuel economy in the Lexus V8s by 5% and costs only 6% more, so I tell myself it is virtually free extra power and free cleaning. Of course this could all be the placebo effect
  22. I'm on the hunt to know the roof weight capacity so that i can buy roof bars before buying kayaks, unfortunately the car didn't come with a manual and it's not available on the Lexus site, could you point me in the right direction please? We used Thule bars on my IS-F and wife's IS220D. The weight is taken by the structure around the doors and we have had 3 large mountain bikes on top many times with no problems. I think I still have the bars in the garage if you are interested
  23. It is not just performance; there is the noise too, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from knowing you have one of the last N/A V8s on the road. I can easily do 380 miles on a long run, with a best of 420. What range does the 300h give? Go on do it; you know you want to
  24. I have a vague memory of hearing on here about one ISF having a transmission problem. The thread may still exist. One reported fault in 12 years is exceptional though.
