  1. There maybe no all season tyres made in the size that the ISF requires. I don't know what size tyres the ISF runs but I know I cannot fit all season to my GS as no tyre manufacturer makes one in the size to fit the standard rear wheels.
  2. I believe there were only 17 UK registered GS 460's. This is the press release:- https://media.lexus.co.uk/lexus-powers-into-2008-with-new-gs-460/ I owned a S3 450h but I would have loved to have owned a 460. I have owned numerous 6 cylinder cars but never a V8 and that is an itch that I need to scratch, especially given the current climate (no pun intended). @JDM-Fiend nice looking car. Hope it meets your expectations.
  3. I am in no way defending this government, and the tax that is levied on fuel, but it's worth noting that the 'fuel duty' hasn't increased since 2009. The last edition of Private Eye pointed out that after the 2020 budget fuel duty had remained frozen for the 11th consecutive year. The VAT element of the cost of a litre is 20% and that also has remained the same since 2010. As far as I know these are the only two taxes levied on fuel. My understanding is that the increase in the cost of fuel over the past few months is due to the oil producing nations cutting production resulting in the price of a barrel going up. Don't forget, with the world in lockdown for the last 12 months or more, there has been no demand for oil, so these countries whose economies rely on the sale of oil have been hammered financially. Now the world is opening up again I guess they now want their money back. Either that or the retailers in this country are profiteering to get their 'lost' money back.
  4. The handbook for my car advises tyre rotation should be done every 6k which means, to me, that the sensors are not unique to the corner of the car. The only thing to do is if you rotate front to back, if the pressures front and rear are different, is set each tyre to the correct pressure and re-initialise the system. The owners manual will tell you how.
  5. There were so few of these cars sold worldwide that there may not be an aftermarket option. When I owned my 2006 GS 450h SE-L I was told by my local dealer they cost £30.00 + VAT each. That was approx 6 years ago. Your only options may be main dealer or breakers yard.
  6. Currently watching the le mans 24hr and looking at the pit stops can anyone tell me what product the teams use to clean the windscreen and lights on the cars during the pit stops? I have looked to see if teams have a sponsor for this but cannot find anything.
  7. Same here. Halfords and the like sometimes sell this at half price so I stock up when they do.
  8. I think it will be the spring that is more heavy duty, not the shock, on the 450h as it is the spring that takes the weight of the car. According to this site https://lexus-europe.epc-data.com/, for the Mk3 GS 300 there are three part numbers listed for shocks dependent on the production period. The part number for both RH rear and LH rear for the production period 01.2005 - 06.2005 is 48530-80232. For production period 06.2005 - 09.2007 the part number is 48530-80341. For cars built from 09.2007 the part number is 48530-80451. I can't help with which one you may need but I hope this will be of help to you in finding what you need.
  9. Not my experience. I have never been told or read in the contract for a courtesy car I have had that there is a mileage limit. Just told bring it back with the same level of fuel as when you received it. However, individual dealerships may have different policies. Give them a ring and see what they say.
  10. I agree with your sentiment but it's worth noting that the 'fuel duty' hasn't increased since 2009. The last edition of Private Eye pointed out that after last years budget fuel duty had remained frozen for the 11th consecutive year so I can't see them reducing it. The VAT element of the cost of a litre increased to 20% (can't remember if from 15% or 17.5%) but that was in 2010 I believe. My understanding is that the increase in the cost of fuel over the past few months is due to the oil producing nations cutting production resulting in the price of a barrel going up. Don't forget, with the world in lockdown for the last 12 months or more, there has been no demand for oil, so these countries that rely on the sale of oil have been hammered financially. Now the world is opening up again I guess they now want their money back.
  11. Pleased to hear your positive result Piers
  12. Agreed. I always check the owners manual first before seeking info elsewhere. I my defence gents I had had a couple of large whiskies before I wrote it! 😀
  13. Page 848 of the owners manual indicates the front and rear mounting points.
  14. That is an interesting thought but if I understand this link correctly https://media.lexus.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2021/06/1517227553180125GSEquipmentList.pdf the GS 300h F Sport and Premier cars have the AVS suspension, but they have the same size brake discs as the other 300h trim specs. My curiosity is from the links I've shown above is why the 450h Luxury has a rear brake disc size that no other GS 300h or 450h has.
  15. I completely agree. Personally would not recommend that product to anyone.
  16. If you go aftermarket you will need to ensure that you get the correct size discs for your F Sport. The reason being according to https://media.lexus.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2021/06/1517227373180125MGSTechnicalSpecifications.pdf the GS 450h Luxury is fitted with slightly smaller brake discs than those fitted to the F Sport and Premier cars (no idea why when they all have the same performance figures!). It states the brake disc sizes for the GS 450h Luxury are (diameter x thickness mm) 334x30mm front and 310x18mm rear. For the F Sport and Premier models the sizes are 356x30mm front and 310x22mm rear (interestingly this rear size is stated for all 300h models). The problem is I have seen many an advert for aftermarket discs stating that they fit the F Sport but are in fact the size as fitted to the Luxury model. I have yet to find aftermarket front discs in the sizes fitted to the F Sport or Premier.
  17. There are a few around where we live that do this and it sounds like an engine backfiring and it scares our pets witless. I don't understand it but I thought there were regulations about vehicle exhaust noise. Oh by the way @Mincey Planet Rock 👍
  18. So pleased to hear that the experience was better than you thought. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome from the scan.
  19. I am not charged for the courtesy car but I am charged £10.00 per day for insurance by Lexus Carlisle and asked to refill the car to the level it was when I received it. Happened to me. Had as a courtesy car I think was one of the last CTs on a '20 plate (approx 600 miles) in March just gone. Took the car home no problem. Return journey a crack appeared from the base of the windscreen and got larger and lager as my journey went. Arrived at dealership and after being greeted and being told how 'great' my car was I said you need to see the CT. He looked at it and said 'don't worry, these things happen'.
  20. Not quite. The tax change took effect from 23/03/2006 so if any LS 430s were registered between 01/03/2006 and 22/03/2006 they will be on an 06 plate but in the lower tax bracket, although I'm not sure how many, if any, there are (maybe a unicorn car!). The 06 car for sale in the link was registered on 29/03/2006 meaning £600.00 pa VED. If it was registered on 22/03/2006 the VED is £340.00 pa. Very annoying.
  21. Official power rating for the engine alone for S3 450h is 292bhp and 368 Nm torque. S4 is 288bhp and 352 Nm. Personally I think my Mk4 F Sport accelerates faster than my 2006 SE-L but I think it's all subjective.
