  1. I think a budget of 2.5K for an IS250 auto is a bit unrealistic. Judging by the examples we've seen, there is a reason they are being offered at a low price and this is because they are likely to need some money spent on them unless the intention is to run them until they stop or fail the MOT. You might be lucky and find a cheap example which has been well maintained but you will need patience and a keen eye. Good luck in any case.
  2. I have a dashcam installed in my IS, which I hope would provide supporting evidence in similar circumstances. So something to consider for the future. Did you take any pictures of both cars after the accident? I know presence of mind is difficult in these circumstances. Seems clear to me from the diagrams and location of damage to your car, that the other driver has turned into you. If the other car had been a few feet in front of you and made the same manouver and you had driven into him, then I heard that insurers will take the view that you should have been able to stop and are therefore partially liable. I would like to say I would stand my ground with the insurers but on past experience they will show little sympathy or understanding.
  3. I've just got back from a trip to Wales. Almost 1,000 miles in 6 days. My first trip to Wales but unfortunately, the weather was pretty foul all week so we didn't enjoy it as much as we could have. Did the Black Mountain Pass twice, because the 1st time visibility was around 200 metres, although the second day it was dull wet and miserable, but it's off my bucket list. Hope the weather's better for your meet up
  4. Good Luck Fraser, hope everything goes well for you.
  5. If you have your heart set on a particular colour combo and model spec, but are shopping used, you will need to be prepared to travel and/or be very patient! Good luck with your search
  6. I'm giving this serious consideration for my 2007 IS250. Cost is a big factor though.

    Newbie

Congrats on the new job Welcome to the LOC
  8. How does this affect your insurance do you think? They always ask if the car has been modified so I assume this will bump insurance costs....
  9. I suppose we must blame the internet/ebay. Long gone are the days of visiting local scrapyards to find parts - just jump on the 'net. And going by the prices of 2nd hand parts, salvage companies must be making good profits.
  10. I know! and the IS compliments it so well don't you think? lol
  11. That's great news, I always enjoy following what you're doing and I do love the IS in that colour #DrivewayEnvy
  12. Lucky boy Ricky, she's a beauty -especially that colour - enjoy!
  13. The video does a great job of selling the car which does look to be in tip-top condition - although Silver will hide blemishes that would be obvious on a darker colour. You've been lucky to find this
  14. The original ebay listing has ended.. wonder if he sold the car at the asking price.
  15. Moonroof and ACC - a rare beast indeed, can see why you're excited. You will have to post some pics though - otherwise I won't believe it exists!
  16. To be fair, Lexus aren't the only manufacturer with unreliable diesel models. The Ford Focus TDCi has a loads of reported issues, whereas the petrol variants are solid and reliable motors.
  17. Congrats on the new car Chris, sounds like you're happy so you got a great deal. I'll head over to ebay and see what lexus related bargains I can spot ;)
  18. I don't have my finger on the pulse regarding values of older GS300 but this looks like someone bagged a bargain on ebay Here's the sales text Silver Lexus GS300, 1998, in very good condition inside and out. 137,000 miles with only two owners (including current). Well presented bodywork with very clean two tone interior (never been smoked in or pets) and all electrics in working order. Very well looked after vehicle with the following recent work to keep it in excellent, smooth running order: • New radiator • New water pump • New drive belt • New timing belt and plugs • New FULL exhaust system Good history with lots of receipts (including all recent work). Good set of tyres with plenty of tread. Car is MOT'd until April 2018. Really good, reliable car that has been very well cared. Here's one of the pictures, The price?? after 21 bids, the final price was £670 Bargain or about right?
  19. I'm not so sure. For example after doing the washing up, look at how the dirty water goes down the plug hole. The food debris often hangs around until the sink is nearly empty.
  20. Hi Bob You say the volume won't work - do you have sound and you can't alter the volume or is there no sound and no response from the volume control? Bob
  21. Did Ed China on wheeler dealers do an LCD repair on a lexus? Seem to remember him doing something like this....
  22. Sounds good value. How long does it last would you say?
  23. can't help with sourcing the part but if you get stuck for someone to do the soldering I could probably help. Not a professional by any means but I do dable in electronics so give me a holler if you end up with a part but no-one to fit it.
