  1. Useful info, I'm going to see Michael McDonald in Manchester next month, didn't take much notice of the venue (o2 arena) when I booked the tickets but it seems it's not in a very safe parking area
  2. Oh, I'd looked on the main Lexus site and there's no mention of a nationwide campaign so I had 'assumed' the deal didn't have national coverage.
  3. I'm currently being bombarded by Lexus Teesside with details of their 'special' event. Not of any interest to me as I have no plans or cash to upgrade but if anyone is in the market for a new car then it might be worth a look
  4. Lol, Oliver obviously hasn't twigged who the Big Rat is. You need to read some of the forum posts mate :)
  5. I recently had to arrange insurance for my daughters car, which in itself was a farce with Admiral. She rang first of all to arrange to change the vehicle on the existing policy which was halfway through the 12 month term. After being quoted a stupid figure to change, she asked to cancel and was told she would get almost 50% of her premium back. So we went online again and Admiral were the cheapest so we went with them. During the final phase of the online form, we were advised to ring because of speed awareness courses (my daughter had done one a few months earlier and I was booked to do one in a few weeks time). Naturally, this added a few quid to the quote which we had to accept but during the call they were very pushy about adding my car for a multi-car deal. I ended up declining their offer, partly because there wasn't a big saving and partly because they'd been so pushy. Leaves me the option of shopping for the best deal I can get when the time comes and I have no doubt my speed awareness course will push my premiums up next year :(
  6. Hi Ian Welcome to the LOC. Sounds like you've had quite a journey but look where you've ended up! I still love my IS250 but someday... who knows eh? Someone I knew had a Subaru Imprezza, he used to swear he could see the petrol gauge moving when he put his foot down! Price you have to pay for all those horses I suppose.
  7. If all the motors work, is the fault electical or mechanical? ie does the vertical motor run when the buttons are pressed? Plenty of IS200 'breaking for spares' on ebay, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS200-IS300-Front-Drivers-Leather-Seat-1999-2005/183005037048?hash=item2a9bf341f8:g:ryEAAOSw2LZaUnG4
  8. I bet! You'll have to start a new topic, this one drifted waaaaayyyyy off topic :)
  9. Good luck with your problem. Let us know how you get on
  10. It could be either. However I'd imagine replacing a sensor would be far cheaper than replacing the Cat. Try clearing the code and seeing if it returns might be the 1st step.
  11. well done! I bet that you have a nice feeling of self-satisfaction - now award yourself that well earned beer/rest/chocolate *delete as appropriate :)
  12. I don't claim any expertise here but my *limited* understanding is that sensor 2 is downstream and that errors on the downstream o2 sensors can indicate problems with the catalytic convertor. If the original sensor was not faulty and was reporting a lack of o2 in the exhaust gases then a new sensor will report the same condition. Simplest check now would seem to be to swap bank 1 and bank 2 sensors to see if fault moves.
  13. Welcome to the LOC Eddie and congrats on the new aquisition. I'm sure you'll be very happy We always appreciate some pics and details of the car so don't let us down :)
  14. Still looks very tidy If I were in the market I'd be very tempted
  15. Do you have an OBD reader? If not, they're quite cheap and very handy to have in situations like this. Either one that links to your smartphone to display results (between £10 and £20) or one with a built in display (£20 to £30) - they're generic so work on all cars. If you can also get hold of the adapter cable and the techstream software as well then this is what the Lexus tech's use. hint - do a search for techstream on the forum Without knowing if the same code has been logged or if it's a new code, its just guesswork
  16. I got my dashboard rattle *mostly* fixed when my car went into the dealers for the airbag recall. They fitted new clips and it's mostly silent now (*except in very cold weather) However, beforehand, I was considering trying this stuff. Same principiple as the felt but maybe a tad neater and less 'homebrew'?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dashboard-Windshield-Anti-dust-Noise-Insulation-Sealing-Strip-Natural-Rubber-AS0-/253273678820?roken=cUgayN
  17. Hi Malcolm Welcome to the LOC I've not seen any discussion of meets currently scheduled but I'm pretty sure that once the decent weather comes, someone will be organising something. @Big Rat is involved in something to do with the 10th anniversary of the 'F' series which is happening somewhere in the midlands, so not to far from you.

    Hello!

    I'll be more of a devil .... IS-F IS-F IS-F !!
  19. Happy Birthday Awesome birthday present as well :) Will you still be the custodian of the IS-F database and will you be starting an RC-F one as well?
  20. Personally I prefer the standard alloys on the GS. I have the spider alloys on my IS and I think they look great but I'm not so keen on the colour combo they've gone for. They've been refurbed as they would have been silver to start with. I like the fact that the Derby dealer has been honest enough to highlight most of the flaws in the bodywork which look to be mostly wear and tear, and as you say £1500 is a fair amount to have on hand to address any issues that may need dealing with.
  21. Absolutely! You must have a very understanding partner, mine would not let me get away with car parts in the kitchen!
  22. What sort of MY you looking at? 2005-2009 or later?
  23. Certainly sounds like a fuel issue, hope you get sorted out soon without to much expense. I used to have a ford focus which had a similar issue. Trick to getting it to start was getting under the car and giving it a good wack near the fuel tank. Had to replace the fuel pump in the end though
  24. Well they do say every cloud has a silver lining but I'm sure you could have done without the hassle of having to keep visiting the dealership. You are preaching to the converted but like you I am mystified as to how a BMW and Audi continue to dominate when the IS and GS are available but I suppose press coverage is largely to blame.
