  1. still too far for me, but you are moving in the right direction! :) hope you have a great day and I'm looking forward to the pics
  2. Actually, I've found that the car responds to your current driving style as well. If I've been driving sedately and then want to get a move on, the kickdown will be sluggish. If you then change to a more urgent and aggressive style - mid journey - then the kickdowns do become more rapid. I don't think it's placebo at all.
  3. Looks amazing condition, #wellchuffed
  4. I could do the cleaning but not any of the other stuff. Good luck with the project, will follow with interest and admiration :)
  5. I didn't doubt your memory, I was just pointing out that the price has increased substantially since!
  6. I keep looking for these (one of mine is damaged) - I would probably pay £75 plus shipping and tax but they're $160/£125 each. Even the breakers want decent money for them.
  7. Glad you've got your car back looking non the worse for the experience. Hope you get sorted out with your insurance - I'm with LV as well but it's up for renewal soon so I'll see what the meerkat comes up with this time as I suppose they're all pretty much the same - when it comes to actually doing what you pay them for!
  8. Well £350 for two services/two MOT's and 2 years warranty sounds pretty good to me If there's no evidence the spark plugs have been changed then they probably need doing - use this to knock some money off - it's not a straight forward job on the lexus. Oh, and welcome to the LOC
  9. Calipers are known issue but preventative maintenance will stop seizures, if the OP is happy to do brake maintenance during the service then they will likely not be a problem. Hopefully, @65K miles the spark plug change would have already been done? It's worth checking as it's a big service job. Also make sure to do a condition check on the exhaust before you buy as this can be expensive to fix.
  10. My situation was almost the same as yours, 2007 plate, 70K miles but full Lexus SH and buying from an independent dealer. In the end I decided that I would take the money I would have spent on a warranty and put it aside to fund any repairs needed. The main reason was that I didn't want to pay Lexus prices for servicing (required for Warranty cover) and that those funds would be available for repairs that may have been deemed 'wear and tear' like suspension items or the exhaust system. In any case, I think the warranty is only available for cars less than 10 years old, so you might not be able to get cover. I did get a 6 month warranty from the dealer, but when I tried to claim for a leaky ball joint, they wouldn't entertain it. Other than that, and the usual brake discs and tyres, I have had no issues in the 18 months I've owned it.
  11. Nice article! Good PR for Lexus, the LOC and SkyInsurance How do you find Sky Insurance as company? I don't recall seeing them on the comparison sites?
  12. Glad you got sorted And top marks for coming back and letting the community know how you fixed it ! Someone, sometime is bound to have the same problem and come looking for answers.
  13. This one has the SatNAV and the ML Stereo and mileage is fairly low. MOT history is a bit chequered though so check carefully. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/lexus/is/lexus-is-250-2-5-se-saloon-4dr-petrol-automatic-214-g-km-204-bhp/7582062
  14. You're right, the 'Nov 08 brochure specifically mentions that the IS250 has a stainless steel exhaust, as does the '09 and '10 brochures. This feature isn't mentioned in the '07 brochure so perhaps this was just from late 2008 onwards? Good luck with your search
  15. You're welcome John Do you know what's on the 10A circuit? If you're running a relay (100mA?) and a couple of LED's (700mA each?) you shouldn't be drawing more than 2 or 3 amps extra
  16. I still think it would work if you reverse it, you would just be fused twice Top is how it would be wired normally, bottom is how it would be fused if you rotated it, fuse 3 would be carrying combined load though
  17. Fair point, the 'live' pin is usually the one furthest from the red wire ?
  18. It's called Lexus Smart Cover, but you can only buy it at the time of vehicle purchase (new or used) so no good in this instance.
  19. Any updates on this? Thinking about getting this for my IS
  20. I watched this earlier. Having never driven either car, and nor am likely too, I thought it seemed a fair and objective review. What I want to know is, when did Chris Martin start reviewing cars?
