  1. A reason to drive a car with 60/70 profile tyres? The 'good old days'? watching 'Potiche' last night (French film about 70s) I noticed how (nicely) bouncy cars seemed to ride -Renault 16/Citroen DS of course....) The old thing about 2CVs being able to drive across a ploughed field-just like UK roads these days? Off to buy an X Trail.......
  2. Ah, well, if only you had bought a big Citroen! Try googling 'Citroen on 3 wheels' to see video. The hydraulics adjust suspension to keep wheel off ground. Folk have reported not noticing flat tyres at 70 mph+!! Loved mine.
  3. Idly watching old 'Wheeler Dealer' on Quest channel (it rained....!) often pops up this concept. Fixing, not replacing. Just come from Garden centre, where you can BUY a garden; no need to actually PLANT anything. A bit like getting a new carpet... Tis the modern world! I have a review of Ser 1 (2?) LS 400 where they compare it with a Rolls and say it's better in all but status.
  4. Not quite that bad, but it would be ironic if my MOT next Monday, I get failed on........wiper blades? (Rushes outside immediately to check them!)
  5. You can't have 'remove the engine undertray' in same sentence as 'easy'! The 'easy' way is to ignore the light, as it is an LS 400 problem/minor annoyance. To folk who never look under the bonnet it's rocket science! (And some Lex owners ARE like that-how often do cars fail on bulbs out ? etc..)
  6. Yes. I have 'Cars under £1K' stickered on Autotrader. My neighbours Audi S8 ( V-10,air suspension) cost £1800 for a suspension leg! A nice 16 years old, low mileage Corolla?........ As you see, I still have no car, except wife's W Reg Micra. MOT guy always says "These things never go wrong" MOT next week.......
  7. Yes.....after all,, you don't ask us about your hair style (you do HAVE hair?). If YOU like it, it's what counts. I do recall that me LS mirrors' paint resisted bumps quite well (scratches polished out) so wonder how these will fare. Just keep out of Supermarkets/narrow roads.....
  8. Good luck. Reinforces using reliable (Lexus/toyota) garages. Folk are often recommending them on here! (Sorry-rubbing salt in wound, I know)
  9. After all, comfort is uppermost re LSs. Leave 'elastic bands' for the flash boys.
  10. ....and all those electronic gadgets! But a 2CV will cost £8K+, (with NO gadgets!)
  11. I recall posting on this subject a few years -oh, the years are rolling by.......back. Were the original tyres Dunlops? I forget. I DO recall that the ones from Japan had a slightly different tread than the German-made ones, so I got a set imported by tyre firm! There must be more archived on here? But.....don't go cheap! That few sq inches of rubber is all that is between you and heaven-if you're a believer in fairy tales- or extinction (if not).
  12. ....and the moral of this story is.....Be careful out there/PAY ATTENTION! Don't rush things. easy to do though, I guess.
  13. The joy of the Cotswolds? All those lovely Japanese tourists admiring the trees and.......
  14. a....what? You learn something every day! Even at my advanced age! Will have to look it up now!
  15. Seeing 'Access denied' on a few SC 430 posts I can't get to, then thinking....they all are Lexusman007's posts......has -say?- he transgressed somehow?

Or is it just a glitch?

  16. Osaka Toyota Specialists in South wales? Or Gas + Go in swindon. rather late response! Sorry! Now TWICE as late?
  17. Osaka Toyota Specialists in South wales? Or Gas + Go in swindon. rather late response!
  18. I once rear-ended my Citroen CX so badly that all the lights were wrecked-but still driveable. All the way home, the dash was telling me the back lights were failed. "I KNOW!!!!" -as is the back end of the (later written off) car!
  19. Failing on light bulbs is just Laziness. Can't you check your own car-you're supposed to each time you drive it, according to Highway Code, I think! I'd hate to think I took so little notice of my car. (And someone-please shoot David for that 'saw' of a joke!)
  20. My car to look back on was probably the cream Citroen Traction Avant Commerciale '55, that I toured Northern Iberia in, in summer '84! Travelling thru' Spanish villages, people in cafes would stand up and clap! Memories of camping by lake, being woken by passing goats with curious goatherd....... But that's another string? (I could ad DS23 to list!)
