  1. It can be really difficult sometimes. You could try Chris Knott as I've heard good words about them....however, a few weeks ago I gave them a call and they wouldn't insure me; it may be my RX or possibly down to location too. I have 14 yrs NCD and no business mileage either 😟
  2. I took a 3 year service plan out when I bought my RX. You can use any Lexus dealership to perform the servicing (I bought from Lexus Milton Keynes, but my nearest dealer is Stockport where I had my 1st service in September). I'm not sure regarding protection against the dealership going bust, but luckily I have several other Lexus dealers within a 30 miles radius of where I live. I think there is a small discount compared to the standard service pricing, but this also takes inflation into account. My service plan does include oil filters, pollen filters, brake fluid change, but not sure on spark plugs though.
  3. Hi Richard, I have a 2019 RX + Premium Pack (i.e. no adaptive dampers) and the ride quality is very good indeed in my opinion (better than my adaptive suspension equipped Jaguar XF). The only slight negatives I've found is there is a little 'float' when driving on fast A roads, but then the RX isn't a car I chuck around the bends 🙂 The adaptive suspension may alleviate this somewhat. Sadly, I've never driven a Premier/Takumi model with the adaptive suspension, so I can't say for sure how much of a difference there is. Could well be worth asking for a test drive in a non-Takumi RX to ascertain whether this is a deal breaker for you.
  4. Although my previous Jaguar XF didn't have air suspension, it did have Adaptive Dynamics (steel springs with adaptive dampers) and low profile tyres (255/35/R20). The ride was not uncomfortable, but the noise from these tyres was greater in my opinion to my RX (which has steel springs, no adaptive suspension, but sits on 235/55/R20 rubber). I should add a caveat that the Jag was by no means a noisy car, which is essentially how high I've put the bar on how quiet the RX is (unless my hearing has deteriorated in the intervening years! 😄).
  5. I've found I can get around 37-38 on the motorway in summer, around 34-35 in winter. Around town in summer I can get about 36, and about 32 in winter (my driving style is fairly relaxed though 😉). Currently, my average consumption is 34.6 MPG over nearly 4000 miles using brim-to-brim calculations. As Graham mentions above, the cold weather seems to have a big effect on the fuel consumption, at least in my experience. Also, being brand new the engine may need a little time to run in and after a period of time the fuel consumption should improve.
  6. In the past I've owned a Peugeot 407 Coupe and Jaguar XF, both which I thought were quiet cars, but in my opinion the RX takes it to another level. I think the fact the 407 and XF were diesels and the RX isn't may have had something to do with it, but all 3 had/have double glazed windscreens/front windows, which certainly makes a difference at motorway speeds.
  7. When you said ICE, I thought you meant the Internal Combustion Engine, not In Car Entertainment! 😆 I find the mouse pad fine to use. It took me a while to get used to initially, but I can quite happily control it left-handed even though I'm right-handed.
  8. Hi Mel, I've had mine for a year and have no complaints at all. I can't comment on towing capacity as I don't tow anything, or what the previous model's engine was like - but I can certainly say the current model RX's engine is absolutely fine - fast when you want it to be and smooth and quiet when you don't. As for trim levels, I guess it depends on what your priorities are and what is important to you. I have what is equivalent to Luxury spec, but it still comes with heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, radar cruise control, reversing camera, etc. F-Sport and Premier add niceties such as ML audio (optional on F-Sport I think), adaptive suspensions, 360 degree cameras, HUD, blind spot monitoring etc. Panoramic or sun roofs are optional on all grades as far as I know.
  9. I know this video is a few years old now, but at least he didn't buy a Mercedes electric car 😉
  10. How about this one? It's a 1 owner, SE-L spec (unfortunately I too don't know the spec differences between the SE and SE-L) that is within your budget and mileage requirements. MoT test history looks quite good too. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202011085915823
  11. I have a friend who has an Octavia he bought from Mitchells Skoda and he spoke very highly of the service he received there, and for subsequent trips for servicing. Skoda Stockport (part of Lookers I believe) were terrible apparently.
  12. Subaru Tribeca, not the worst in the world but I just don't like it:
  13. Hi Mike, I've also seen these two below while scouring the internet, but they may be a little too high for your budget: https://www.eliteventure.co.uk/used-lexus-rx-leicester-leicestershire-3124165 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202010275474667
  14. I've found this seems to be more from the increased number of SUVs on our roads, with the headlights mounted higher up. Not noticed it as much since I've started driving one myself!
  15. I was encouraged to when my RX was in for the fuel pump recall, even though my car is only 1 year old (this was after being asked how long I plan to keep my RX after the 3 year warranty expires - I replied 'for a few more years at least').
  16. I almost did the opposite, found an RX at a very good price at Lexus Milton Keynes and drove back to Stockport! Very enjoyable drive back too, could really appreciate the quality of the car.
