  1. I was worried about that, although the distance between the camera and the headrest looks exagerated on that image ~5cm, which is why if it were to pivot the camera would hit the headrest. Nevertheless, as the front of the headrest is pliable Tahara and sponge I wasn't taking any chances so you would need to take a hammer to the post to get it to move (loctite). All nuts used were also locking nuts, so vibrations wouldn't have an impact on anything getting loose. You know the belt and suspender approach 😁 Add to that the orientation of the clamp arm only allows up and down pivoting on the balls. Now if I were to rotate it 90 degrees on it's axis, then it could pivot front and back but you wouldn't be able to pivot up and down. Hope that makes sense. Also, the intertia of the setup is fairly small. The camera weighs 190g and the ball head weights 170g. Yes resolution is good enough to get plates on the move too as long as the speed differential is not too high.
  2. I thought it might be too, with the camera body being orange and the ball head being red. But even outside, the rear tinted windows don't let in enough light, so you'd have to get really close to see it. Unless of course one leaves the sunroof blind open when parked. Admittedly I do remove it daily, but that's why I used a head with a QR plate.
  3. old ricoh/pentax action camera WG-M1attached to passenger headrest post with a QR plate. Can do looped recording and motion detection. Runs on internal battery, so no wires needed. Most people will end up charging once or twice a week I think. Can also be hooked up to the rear USB ports if needed, or to a power bank. Here are a couple of screen grabs. As you can see it picks up both left and right mirrors and windows, and what you're doing (indicators and such). Thought I'd share if anyone i interested in alternative setups that don't require sticking on windscreen or wiring. arm https://www.amazon.co.uk/AUTUUCKEE-Headrest-Rotation-Adjustable-Shockproof/dp/B09FXLF2PK ball head with QR plate https://www.amazon.co.uk/SMALLRIG-Panoramic-Ballhead-Arca-Swiss-Compatible/dp/B0833XVLK8
  4. Hi James. You'll need to have your data connection live on your phone, and have the phone transmit a wifi hotspot. You then define that wifi hotspot the same way you defined your home wifi on the car.
  5. Thank you Neil. I've learned something interesting and new to me.
  6. I've done that run twice, you should easily see 60MPG+. Traffic does not put as much of a dent in economy as non-hybrids. Enjoy!
  7. Hold definitely keeps brake lights on, in an ES.
  8. Looks like a poor repair job to me. Had this happen to a repaired wheel after I sadly let a moron mount new tyres and he damaged it. The repair job, paid by the tyre shop, initially looked good but barely lasted a year when big flakes like that started to come off.
  9. Corrosion resistant, but not free https://www.marlinwire.com/blog/5-things-that-will-corrode-stainless-steel The one I saw on the tester didn't look like stainless to me, I thought it was textured/brushed chromed plastic.
  10. Actually had one on the tester and thought it didn't look very useful so skipped it. It does look better on darker colored cars, on silver it looked like a bit of a stick on afterthought (which it is). Admittedly, I don't frequently haul anything back there more strenuous than the weekly shop. I did fill the boot twice in our move from Germany, no problems without one. Mind you I am OCD especially when it comes to car upkeep/usage. So not an average user.
  11. I found the sweet spot was the premium edition rather than pack. You can't go wrong with either though.
  12. Interiors would look like this while driver seats would look like this this was mimicked like in this early peugeot from 1899
  13. Just simply not true! Actually @NemesisUK is right historically. Driver seats were outside the car cabin, exposed to the elements (mimicking horse drawn carriages). Hence, leather was used for durability, not comfort, while interiors were not leather, for comfort, not durability. Leather was seen as a suitable seating surface for the driver/commoner, not the occupants. It's only later in the 20th century that leather gained the air of luxury.
  14. I'd rather have these seats/material https://www.gearpatrol.com/cars/a472764/fourth-generation-toyota-century/
  15. or just get something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodyear-Inflator-Pressure-Compressor-Accessories/dp/B09LVL7CMY
  16. It's what sealed the deal for me along with the whisper quiet cabin on my B road test drive, and that's despite the fiddly nav, which is saying something.
  17. I thought some of those were going to be electric and the rest low emission 🤔 https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a35604138/usps-oshkosh-defense-new-mail-trucks/
  18. I didn't think it was possible to make that thing look any more hideous, then you show us that color on it 🤮
  19. I never knew that inflators came with screw ons. Have always used the thumb lock variety, didn't even know that's what they're called. They work perfectly. Push on you hear the tyre starting to hiss and you engage the lock, pump, release and pull away quickly. Very little air lost.
  20. Sarcasm doesn't come through in writing sometimes, but @Mincey knew who I was teasing. I guess we were having too much fun. The tease was in response to being told in another thread that all FWD cars, including our own, are inherently bad handlers. Hence, the video(s) and you know the rest 😁 There's also another thread about flaming hybrid BMWs along the same lines, if you're interested.
  21. Hi @Mr Vlad, that post was meant to be sarcastic, and relating to another thread 😁 Love superbly handling FWD cars, they take skill to drive.
  22. It does, it wasn't an easy decision. I especially like the LFA nicked instrument cluster. 👌
  23. This is one of the reasons I stayed away from the F sport. While it would make sense on an ES350, which we don't get here in the UK, i didn't to me on the 300h. I was willing to forgo some options in the hunt for comfort. I'm on 18", with the standard suspension setup and on softer rubber; the low speed drive is butter smooth and quiet, enough to put you to sleep. I swapped tyres at delivery, beyond that all you can do is adjust pressures. Do 18"ers even fit on the F sport? i.e. do they have larger calipers?
