  1. Oh dear, 8 hours. I've got the clay and 3 stage to do on my 10 year old LS for the 1st time. I'll book the week off then
  2. I just come back from Saudi since 2000 working for their military. Believe me, if the LOC got tooled up we could beat their entire "forces" and take what we want, end of story. ;) Why do you think we're in Iraq? it ain't "about people" over there. Any tree huggers on this site have come to the wrong place surely. Every enviromentalist, with emphasis on the mentalist, that i've seen has been driving a knackered camper van or 2CV with smoke :tsktsk: ing out the back. I take it no-one goes on Jet aeroplanes on holiday then?, check the pollution figures out for them bad-boys. Or go and crush some cans if it makes you feel better.
  3. I'll probably get a couple of them but PC gaming still blows them all away IMO. Consoles are good for certain games, especially if you've got mates round. (So no good for me then)
  4. Welcome to the LOC :D The LS is such a sweet car, I absolutely love mine. I have been doing about 2500 miles a month the last 3 months and as Matthew says there is no better place to be. I've got a MK2 now but next i'll get a MK4 like yours as the tiniest niggles of the early cars were ironed out and they're even more specc'ed up. Good luck.
  5. In response to your MPG enquiry Mark I get between 24 and 28. 24 on shorter runs and 28 on longer runs, cruising at 80ish.I have had up to 30MPG once or twice on long runs with Cruise Control switched off. I put my foot down when necessary but you find you don't have to boot it much as there's so much power/torque. Out of interest a lot of the guys on this site don't get any more than that in their 2 litre IS's ( mind you they have to carry round 8 subwoofers and them neon kits are pretty heavy, only joking guys ).As far as big cars goes they're very good, My Jag had less power and used to give me between 15 and 20MPG. My Dad gets less than me in his diesel 4x4 Merc.
  6. Have you been watching Fast and Furious Niraj? Or playing Need for Speed 2? Neons!!!!! I like the photochromatic paint effect on the 3rd one though. Are you bored by any chance mate?
  7. That's really nice Niraj, the headrests look strange (gay) though. I'll have 2 please, with proper seats. ;)
  8. Buy a bike and go out on that? Your car looks well shiny by the way, i've always found it hard to get a deep shine on silver paintwork but yours looks smart :) I'm about to do similar on my LS, i've got the 3 stage merguiars stuff and some posh cloths (any tips welcome) ,i've never used it before as i've always used Autoglym, I just need the time to do it now.
  9. I'm with the AA, dual membership with the Mrs was about £110 The thieving insurance co. wanted about £60 just for us on one of our cars whereas the AA is either of us in any car, even as a passenger or me on my bike.
  10. Hi Mark Welcome to the LOC if this is your first post :D I've got aMK2 and apart from normal wear and tear and LCD displays I don't think there's any major things to lookout for, mainly little niggles. Sometimes the low pad warning light comes up on the dash and won't go away even when you replace the pads but this is usually just a snapped wire around one of the calipers. Make sure you check all the gadgets and Aircon. Don't believe anyone who says the A/C just needs charging up. These cars can cost a fortune to fix in the unlikely event that they go wrong so I would take a friend who knows their way around cars if you're not sure what to look for. Failing that get a Professional inspection. Check the Service History and if possible find out what's been done/ due, don't take people's word for it. As for things wearing out the normal stuff applies as these are big, powerful heavy cars. I don't think these cars are particularly heavy on particular items but I have read tales of people needing replacement wishbones or having broken suspension springs. I'm not sure about the service intervals for your model. I get mine done every 10K. The MK3 keys maybe different to the MK2 but I have 2 keys with the built in remote and 1 without, the valet key I presume. All 3 keys are the same colour. Good luck with your purchase and sorry I couldn't answer all your questions specifically. :) Adz
  11. Yeah thats it! I just checked mine by leaving gearbox in Drive, that doesn't cause it but when I left sunroof open that did it. :D
  12. Isn't that when you turn the engine off with the transmission in D? I think mine's done that a couple of times, not 100% sure though mate. I'll give it a go when I leave work in a bit. :)
  13. I've just come back from over 4 years in Saudi and saw on average 2 accidents a day, it became part of life and we had to floor it and get away from the scene. When people have stopped they've been blamed for the accident due to the drivers being blinded by the sins of the infidels. Sometimes the bodies would be strewn over the road with people standing next to them and pointing. Some of the cars are driven by 12 year olds in daddys Humvee. One truck even T-boned me while I was passing through an accident scene with my wife and 12 week old son in the car, nice :tsktsk: .
  14. That's pretty bad but I was -7.00 before I had Laser treatment 18 months ago. I'd recommend it if you want to get rid of them glass bottoms. Niraj, I'd say your prescription was too high, you can get the glasses measured I believe as they may have messed up the manufacturing/ measurements of your specs. No wonder there's a reflection off them in your dodgy avatar photo ;)
  15. I've had a Netgear MP101 wireless music player for abot 8 months, which pretty much does the same thing (plays internet radio, MP3 and WMA), although mine doesn't as I can't seem to set it up. :duh: I've been on to Netgear support UK which is a call centre in New Delhi. :tsktsk: I gave up trying to talk to the bloke and now it just sits in my front room on my stereo cabinet looking cool.
  16. Jonny Allen in Eastenders has got an LS and he's a gangster. Ray Winston had one in Love, honour and obey and he was a gangster. The common theme is they were make believe gangsters in a make believe world, which is where Clarkson lives. He's a bike hating, badly dressed, perm having, middle class 80's throwback :tsktsk:, pity him.
  17. Hi Carlo Most of us leave our LS's outside, mine won't fit in the garage anyway. Have you checked the boot seal as there's no way water should get in? If I were you i'd investigate the problem rather than getting a cover. Failing that you could move somewhere it doesn't rain. I hear Riyadh's nice this time of year. :D
  18. Also i'm pretty sure most of, if not all of the digital recording equipment can still get you (Camera cars, camera vans, bikes, truvelo and SPECS etc.) Would you really trust it enough to just floor it?
  19. I'm gonna buy 4 and get 100BHP extra on my LS. :D Not that she needs it though, bless her :winky: .
  20. Welcome to the LOC. :)
  21. Got 100% after 3 goes. 0% first time and 13% the 2nd I didn't understand the instructions at first. :duh:
  22. Immortality, like Highlander but without the dodgy accent and bad haircut :P Mind you it would come in and out of fashion I suppose (the haircut, that is) :zee:
