  6. Well it's finally sorted. They said they had to play about deflating the tyres, reprogramming and clearing faults etc. Not sure if this would if occurred if they had fitted Lexus's TPMS but its working and hopefully thats it. Thanks for your advice LenT ;)
  7. I bought a jack. I know I could call the AA but it bothered me that one wasn't supplied. Also, I like to rotate my tyres and I'm happy to do this myself rather than get the dealer to do it. Not just any jack mind; I wouldn't trust some of the cheap Chinese models and it had to be suitable for an SUV and to lift the not insubstantial weight of the car.
  8. Hi there new to all this, ever since I purchased my car I had issues with profile on it, many times I had to go back to the dealer to get it set. Now am getting no radio signal ie dab ,fm, never had any issue with this before, so am asking for some help or advice before I go back again tis
  9. Thanks everyone. I was told this a year ago and there was 50% left on the pad. Now they say 10% left on pad. My local garage agree that a change would be prudent. I appreciate all of your replies. Apologies for taking so long to acknowledge, my broadband has been down for over a week 😞
  10. Hello! I am in the process of purchasing a 220d myself, 2009 registration with a lot of nice options. The vehicle has 159.000km on the Odo, had clogged injectors which have been cleaned with a bit of gasoline+highway high rpm driving, a whistling turbo (no smoke from the exhaust!; owner doesn t drive much since it hasn't moved that much since 2009 AND it supposedly whistles like such for a while now) no major, almost no minor leaks. broken handgrip on the door, new one ready to be installed given for free. Interior is a 7/10, i know a detailer though. Breaks need the fluid changed, breaks are almost new. Tires new ish. the car will set me back 2800€, which gives me another 1200€ or so to maybe have the turbo changed or refurbished. I know 2 injectors were clogged, Obd tester said the same. i might consider replacing those with used parts or new depending on availability and (hopefully) under 400€/piece pricing. What i am getting at is that the whole interweb seems to tell me this car is **** while i personally absolutely loved its quirks and its handling so far; even with the sick engine. Are these truly as haunted as they say? Between the 220d and say a 1.8 Megane would i be any cheaper/better/more reliable with the french plastic toy? Any other stuff for me to watch out for? P.S. don t tell me how much better the is250 is, insurance would be much too high, i agree it would be better but they re also 15k here, which i do not have.
  11. Yes, I purchased through the service department, they set up the service plan which I now believe is a national one rather than dealer specific which would give you flexibility of where to go that suits yourself.
  12. Its been a while since I have updated this build thread but here goes... Due to the lovely British weather I haven't really done much to the old bus, except a service and more excitingly a new exhaust systems as the old one was not up to par. The previous owner had put in a "true dual" stainless centre section with original Toyota back boxes, which had shot baffles so it sounded awful. So in total it has had a brand new stainless cat back with X-pipe, centre boxes on each bank and 2 "sport" rear boxes with turn down tips for that "OEM look". All O2 sensors have been replaced too. It gives a nice V8 rumble as you drive down the road without being too loud and annoying, Classy as all things Lexus are. It is worth mentioning how smooth the car runs now, probably a combination of new O2s and the X-pipe aiding exhaust flow. X-Pipe: Centre boxes: (Yes, I will give the rear sub-frame some attention soon) Rear boxes: Both turn down tips: Sound clip:

  14. I have no idea about LeMans but I got up close with the Toyota Avensis touring car once, the Toyota drivers test their cars on the test track here according to them the only original part left was the bonnet & the chopped down shell of the car. It wasn't really an Avensis in any meaningful way. Wonder what engine is in that rcf cause I'd bet its not based on the 2ur
  15. Hello All! Having lurked on this forum for a few months, I thought I would finally sign-up and introduce myself! I recently purchased an RC F Track Edition (2020) in mid-April after owning an IS F for a few months. With two months of ownership under my belt, I can definitely say the RC F has not disappointed whether it be commuting; Sunday drives; or taking it out on track! I look forward to getting to know the community and potentially attending some meet-ups! Until then, have a great day and please find included some snaps from my first track day in my car at Brands Hatch. Paul "tx141" Walsh 😀
  16. Not a huge amount of mods so far, but have good plans for the future with further subtle mods. Do very much like the look of the Tesla alloys on the 250, need some spacers and lowering ideally but that’s all to come.
  17. Not to those who've had to do this. I recently read about a Porsche customer who had to replace his battery pack at the eye watering cost of £42K. The car was less than 10 yrs old. I also have a friend with a ten year old Nissan leaf who cannot use it for longer journeys as the effective range has dropped off way more than manufacturer claimed. He knows it isn't worth anything on the used market as a result, so uses it for all his local trips and still likes it, but I'd be concerned about used values/depreciation of any 10 yr old EV. That's not really old for a car. Up until recent years, all my used cars were 5 to 10 yr old petrol engined cars and if well maintained, I knew buying at 80K miles was a safe bet and looked after, they'd give another 70K miles. I wouldn't risk any used EV. If they go wrong, costs can write off any residual value left in them and it's more an urban myth to suggest they don't go wrong. The future may indeed be EVs, but current LiIon packs are the present, not the future and my personal opinion is that the devastation to the planet, that mining Lithium involves, never mind the disposal/recycling costs makes them environmentally unsound. When a greener solution is found, then I'll consider one. That's just my personal view but backed by keeping an open mind, informed by reports from reliable sources. You don't have to justify your own choices, just ensure you're well informed and happy with your purchase.
  18. I have a similar issue with my NX350h when using Android Auto. I need to exit AA and connect via Bluetooth then reconnect to AA, once I've done that it's fine, until the next trip.

  20. What brand of memory stick are you using? have you tried using a smaller sized memory stick eg a 16gb?. Had a similar issue with my IS250 years ago as i realised it wouldn't play music from certain brands and sizes, still don't know why this is, all good for years now.
  21. Pretty sure that they are still available new from Amayama. Bit spendy tho !!! Cheers...

  23. Jan to May 2024 inclusive, 1798 new Lexus LBX have been sold and registered in the UK, out of 6521 Lexus in total. This compares to 1712 NX models (hybrid & PHEV) and 1283 UX (hybrid & EV). Lexus UK said they wanted the LBX to be about one-third of their model sales, aiming for around 6000 sales per year in the UK, and given it’s only hit volume in the last couple of months, looks like the LBX is well onto the way to achieving that…
  24. And then the penny drops..... Originally we ordered a premium plus but I realised after a few days I really wanted some of the extras on the Takumi so upgraded and was advised there was no problem in keeping the same colours. Roll on 10 weeks and our 'Takumi' is missing the majority of things I'd upgraded to get. I didn't realise we'd 'downgraded the seats/upholstery but that's exactly what happened. Only realised this evening as we were considering what colour combinations we'd accept as our dealer has suggested an option may be for us to have a full spec Takumi from a showroom. This however needs to be approved by Lexus GB but it seems a precedent has been set in this situation. The dealership seem unaware of the issue with changing the upholstery and as to why our car is missing the powered seats/ paddle switches etc. I'll keep you updated as to how this progresses.
